Before You Read…

This book follows no strict rules.

It’s inspired by the idea of a dark world; one built on secrets, power, and truths that were never meant to be uncovered. A world where survival is earned, trust is a liability, and every smile could be hiding something deadly.

But this author is a die-hard lover of the romance genre, and you will find that beneath all the brutality, the bloodshed, and the chaos… romance is the backbone of it all.

Not the soft kind.

Not the safe kind.

But the kind that burns.

The kind that consumes.

The kind that makes you question whether love is salvation… or the most dangerous weapon of all.

Because in this story, love does not come gently.

It comes with obsession.

With betrayal.

With power.

And sometimes—

with death.

A SHORT PROLOGUE: A flexible Insight Into The Story’s Background.

At seven years old, Liliana Veyne already knew something was wrong about her.

She had spent all her years locked inside the grand Veyne estate in Eldoria.

While her older sister, Rhea, moved freely and was proudly presented to guests, Liliana was kept indoors, away from everyone.

Rhea was their parents’ biological child. Liliana was adopted. She had been told her real parents died in a car accident after her birth, but even at her young age, she could feel the difference in how she was treated.

She once overheard a guest say she did not have a wolf and would one day be sent away to live among humans. When she asked her mother what that meant, she was told she was “pure” and needed protection from the world. Liliana did not fully understand, but she accepted it. Her parents still showed her kindness, just not the same kind they gave Rhea. And somehow, she knew that difference mattered.

Despite everything, Liliana preferred her quiet life to Rhea’s cruelty.

One evening, for the first time, she was allowed to attend a ball outside the estate. Before leaving, she met the only person who made her feel truly seen—a boy who visited her secretly through her window. He never spoke, only wrote to her and brought her flowers every day. She called him her “flower boy.”

That night, he invited her to his own family’s gathering, but before she could respond, her parents came in and took her away to the ball.

At the event, Liliana felt out of place. Her parents proudly introduced Rhea to everyone while ignoring her. Hurt, she slipped away and hid behind a pillar, crying quietly. That was when the boy found her again. He comforted her with a note, promising that one day he would make her happy and she would never cry again. Then he kissed her cheek, and for a brief moment, she felt a strange and powerful connection with him that she could not explain.

Their moment was interrupted when Rhea appeared and tried to introduce herself to the boy as the Veynes’ only daughter. Before anything else could happen, chaos broke out.

Gunshots exploded through the ballroom. Panic spread as people screamed and bodies fell. Armed men surrounded the area, overpowering everyone. Liliana watched in horror as her parents were forced to their knees at gunpoint.

The leader, a man called Beta Tal, demanded to know which of their daughters carried a rare lightning crest. When her parents hesitated, he threatened to kill her mother. Unable to endure it, her father revealed that Rhea was the one.

Rhea was dragged away as she screamed for help. Liliana stood frozen, unable to understand what was happening. Moments later, her parents were shot and killed in front of her.

Liliana screamed, but was seized and held back. When one of the men suggested killing her too, Beta Tal refused. He decided she would be useful.

Terrified and broken, Liliana was taken away with them. As she sat in the car, surrounded by the people who destroyed her life, one thought settled deep inside her heart.

One day, she would find her sister again.

And no matter how long it took, she would make them pay.

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   A Sacred Close Proximity

XADENI shouldn’t have brought her here. But here I am, shutting the door with my shoulder after I carried her in.I cross the room in long strides and lower her onto my bed, breathing heavily. My bed.The one place I have never allowed anyone else to touch. Not this room, or my main one in the packhouse. My chest rises and falls unevenly as I straighten, my hands hovering for a second before I pull them back like I’ve just done something irreversible.I can’t help but stare. The image before me— A white wolf on my bed. A Siphon.Heat that doesn’t belong to me pulses beneath my skin.It crawls through my veins, lingers in my fingertips, settles into my chest like a second heartbeat.Damn it.I step back from the bed and create distance, forcing control back into my body.I need to calm her down before whatever is happening escalates beyond what I can contain. What the hell have I just brought into my space?“Please… don’t leave.” She says weakly and I freeze.I don’t understand it, bu

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   A White Wolf

XADENGanxu, an old mage from Dahla, once prophesied to my mother that only a white wolf who carried the lightning crest would be my mate and lift my curse. She would be the only one who could survive me.At the time, it had sounded like a death sentence disguised as hope.Because white wolves didn’t exist. Not anymore. They hadn’t existed for decades, and even the elders spoke of them like myths that had already faded into nothing. The possibility of one appearing again was said to be almost nonexistent. So my mother had shifted her focus. If a white wolf could not be found, then the next best thing was a woman who carried the lightning crest. And over the years, they’ve brought five women to me.One after the other.Five attempts to make the prophecy real. Each one had been presented to me with certainty, with promises that this time it was right. And each time, I had done what was expected of me.I had mated with them on the 9th floor, under Ganxu’s supervision. And each time, with

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   Silver Eyes

“Nana?” Darian calls my attention back to the present, jolting me.I blink. I can’t remember what he asked. “Sorry…I zoned out.”A subtle unreadable emotion flashes in his eyes before he repeats himself. “I just asked when you started forgetting things. How it happened. I’m really curious to know.”“I really don't want to talk about that right now.” I quickly say, looking away from him before I would say the wrong thing.“I'm just... I need to return to my room.” I add. I feel like staying a minute longer outside here would implicate me in some way. The paranoia I feel is getting stronger by the second.Darian keeps watching me without looking away for once, as if he’s trying to understand something. If he’s already suspecting that I’m not Hannah… well, I’m doomed.“Are you sure you want to return to your room?” he asks. “Or do you just need some time to cool off here?”“I'll be fine.” I force a smile that comes out shaky. “You can go back to the hall, Darian. I'll find my way back.”

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   Rhea Is Back

LILIANAI didn’t realize that I’ve been running until the cold night air outside hits my face. One moment, I am standing inside that hall, staring at the woman who has occupied so many of my childhood memories, and the next, my feet are carrying me away from the celebration as though my body has decided that I need to escape before my mind can understand what it has just seen.I push through the back exit I just discovered without thinking and stumble into the darkness outside. The heavy door closes behind me, muffling the music and voices from the hall, but my heart is still pounding so violently that I can hear it in my ears.My entire body is trembling.I walk a few steps into the garden before I have to stop, my hand reaching for the stone railing beside the path. I lean over it, dragging in a deep breath that does almost nothing to calm me.The building lights spill across the garden, illuminating the carefully trimmed hedges, the winding stone paths, and the flowers that sway ge

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   A Fake Mate

XADENIt takes everything in me not to react. Not to stand, shatter the glass in my hand, and tear the entire hall apart as the words leave my mother’s mouth like she hadn’t just ruined everything by announcing that.“…the Alpha heir’s betrothed—Rhea Veyne.”My fingers tighten around the glass, the movement the only sign that I am close to losing it.I turn and see her. Rhea. She walks toward us, dressed in a shimmering maroon gown that catches the light with every step she takes. The excitement on her face is vivid. Of course it is. This is what Rhea had always wanted- to be my chosen mate. The last time I saw her, she had stalked me to the eighth floor, pushing into a space she had no business being in. But I had departed from her that night without knowing when she left after. I didn’t care to know. She had probably been planning behind me with my mother. And I wasn’t aware. No wonder she had left without a fight.Around us, people are cheering.I drop my shield instantly and force

  • CHOSEN BY RUIN   The Announcement

Darian doesn’t hesitate to reply, lifting his chin. “Zolya,” he says sharply, “I think you should focus on finding your own mate instead of waiting around hoping Xaden will claim you someday, because from the look of things, he won’t.”Color drains from Zolya’s face instantly, her chest heaving.“Xaden is my best friend,” she says quickly. “I had never possessed such thoughts towards—”“Now don’t get too emotional, Darian,” Xaden interrupts smoothly, his gaze shifting back to me. I lower mine immediately. “Zolya only stated a fact. Someone like Hannah would never have my attention.” Then his voice turns cold. “Not even in her wildest of dreams.”For a second, everything inside me goes quiet. My eyes lift to his and our gazes lock. I squint. What is Xaden trying to prove with his demeaning words?Darian leans back slightly, a smirk tugging at his lips.“Are you sure you’re not the one getting emotional, Xaden?” he says without raising his voice. It almost feels like a normal conversati
