In an instant, the whole room was in chaos. Everyone was talking at the same time, the elders were barking orders to get the whole place ready to receive the distinguished guest, and even Lucien was giving out orders to his Beta.

For a moment, I was forgotten. No one looked at me, no one spoke about the voting that had just been paused.

Elder Malric turned slightly pale. I heard the words from his lips.

“Why would he…?”

“He had not left his land in over a decade— why now?” Someone else whispered, fear evident in his tone.

No one knew the answer to that.

Most eyes were locked to the entrance, as though they were expecting the devil himself to walk in.

And maybe he was.

Because only a few beings in this realm could send a chill through every Alpha and Elder in the room.

And the Demon King was the head of them all.

I watched as a few pack members fled the scene, obviously scared of the news brought to them.
