ENYINNAYA
I pace continually in my office, unable to sit down for long and concentrate without Iris images sneaking into my head. Everything around me reminded me of her and the fact that my last encounter with her wasn't so good, just made matters worse for me. I keep wondering if she's still mad at me or if she has forgiven me, even more I fear the thought that she may have completely wiped me out of her mind. I want to hang on to the fact that she hasn't because somehow that makes me feel safe.
"Sir, your coffee." My secretary says to me as she presents the cup of expresso coffee on the table.
I check my watch and find that it's already way past closing time.
"Jessica, you can take your leave, you don't have to wait for me. Okay?"
"Yes sir." She nods and gently walks out.
"Oh and Jessica?"
She pauses and turns to face me. "Yes sir."
"Have the gift brought to my office before you leave. Make sure you don't forget to do that."
"
ENYINNAYA"You know, I was sworn to never let you in my house, ever again."Iris tells me, just as she opens the door door. She leaves to allow room for me to pass through."But you can come in, let's make some kind of peace."I smile. Weirdo. She is a complete weirdo."What's that smug look you have on, for?""Nothing. Well something. It's just that you are really cute and funny when you put up an argument or try to act angry." I tell her, in all sincerity. She huffs."Enjoy this funny side, cause when I really get angry, my fire could burn you." She points to a seat, indicating that I take my sit.Do I have to tell her that even her funny side was already setting fire to my being. Do I let her know that, I was constantly having my being consumed by her fire?"Iris Adelana. You might as well be Ares, with this sea of fire that you've got in you.""I'll be sure to." She answers sarcastica
CHIKE"What are you doing here, Chike?" Nelly asks, locking her gate as she steps out of her compound. She wouldn't even let me in. Perhaps it was to remind me of the embarrassing scene created by my gateman the last time she had been at my place."You are not even going to let me in?" I foolishly ask, even though I knew she would refuse me."Why should I? What business do I have with you that will warrant me letting you come into my house?"Her arms are placed akimbo as she interrogates me. It is supposed to make me upset, but instead, it gives me joy and a kid of fulfilment to see her act stubborn and fierce. It meant that she was doing just fine.I smile."What is funny Chike?" She questions, getting more angry."This is funny, you are funny."Her chubby cheeks turns pink, reminding me about how fair her skin is. She was so light skinned, such that if one didn't go so close such a person would mistake her
IRISRoses aren't always redBeauty sometimes fades away andEven gods have an expiry dateBut your grace, elegance, and beauty is something to last foreverSo I picked the flowers that reminds me of you.Iris; you know what this flower means after all you are named after it, or would you rather I remind you about how much you take after the goddess who also bears the name.Delphinium; something to remind you about how much life and happiness you have in you. You spread that energy to everyone around you, my vivacious Mami.Gladiolus; strength, something displayed in everything you do.And off course Daisies; cause I am requesting a new beginning from you, my beautiful. &nb
IrisSeeing Nelly didn't feel awkward as I thought it would be. What happened between us, didn't happen everyday or to everyone. It is weird having your best friend who works for you confess that they have feelings for you, but what is even more weird though, is if that friend is of the same sex as you, especially if you are not gay."Ma'am?" Nelly's call wakes me up from my thoughts."Yes.""There is something I didn't say yesterday."What other shocking information could she have for me. I don't even know if my shock absorber can take it anymore."And what would that be?" I inquire."I didn't tell you about the fact that I..."I decide to cut her off, being uncomfortable with the chance that we were in my office, thus may have someone eavesdropping on us."Can't we meet somewhere to discuss it?""It's not something that we can't discuss here.""But I will prefer we do it elsewhere, though if you insi
One week laterENYINNAYAI could tell from the sound of her laughter that she was enjoying the conversation she was having with the dark skinned guy that occupied the seat opposite hers. I try my best to not loose my temper over it, even though I feel extremely furious seeing her enjoy another man's company. What was this? Anger and jealousy over some woman that isn't even mine yet.I Walk quietly taking quick strides towards the table they occupied."Good evening" I greet both as I reach their table, but stretching my hands towards the young man."Good evening to you too. How can I be of help to you?" He asks and I smile.'Get the fuck out of this building, that's how you can help me' I want to say to him, but I don't."If I was you, I won't leave my hand hanging." I warn subtly."And why would that be?" He daringly questions, lifting an eyelid."Because, I am Mr Amadi Enyinnaya."At first he just be
ENYINNAYA"Fuck! Last two weeks Gregory Malik wasn't my boyfriend!" She yells and I am rendered speechless for a while."How?" I ask."We only started dating again four days ago.""Again?" I question having observed her choice of words."He was my ex boyfriend. We just decided to try dating once again.""Why would you say yes to him, when you know I want a chance to be with you?""I can't keep him waiting. I need to go back, we can talk some other time if it's important to you.""No. We have to talk now, tell him we have something to settle and just set another date with him please." I beg."And why would I do that?" She asks ready to throw her usual tantrums, but I don't have the energy to fight her."Please Iris. Please, you can at least do this much for me." I plead again and I guess she sees my sincerity."Fine. I'll go tell him that." She replies and I feel glad about it, but I refuse to trust h
IRISHe pauses, folds his hands on his chest."Miss Iris." He calls"Yes" I respond, my voice barely a whisper. He walks closer and stops again when he is about a feet from me. It's like he is telling me to leave, but I remain glued to the same spot. I don't want to leave. When he sees that I don't move, he moves closer to me, dangerously close and pins my both hands with one of his.My body wanted his, this time there was no denying it."What do you say Miss Iris?" His husky voice questions"what we have is just chemistry." I object"So?" His lips is on my nose as he asks that."I have a boyfriend." I object again. This time it's like I am trying to remind my body that it has an owner, and that owner isn't the man standing before me, but my treacherous body wouldn't listen."Break up with him.""But...." My last objection was cut short as his lips ruthlessly desc
IRISMy phone rings for the umpteenth time, yet I don't get up to pick the call as I already know who the caller is. A notification for a message comes up and I can already guess who the sender is.Gregory Malik.I take my phone from the reading table and open up the message, it reads;Hey babe, what's up?Been trying your number but you ain't picking up.Just wanted to hear your mellifluous voice before I start my day.Do give me a call when you read this dear.Confused, I just decide to ignore the message.I lazily lift myself from my queen sized bed, and throw a large tee shirt over my body that stops just midthigh giving me enough space for easy motion. I stroll idly to my dining room to make myself a cup of coffee.A knock on my sitting room door alerts my otherwise dull senses. I want to call kemi to go check out who is at the door but decide against it. I am curious as to
