Before we could finish talking, the sharp ring of a phone cut through the room. Liam grabbed it quickly. I could faintly hear the panicked voice of a nurse on the other end.

“Prepare the operating room immediately. I’m coming down now,” Liam said.

He hung up and stood tall, his Alpha aura instantly filling the room.

“There’s an emergency patient. I need to go to the operating room.”

I rushed to him. “This time let me stay out.”

Liam stopped and looked at me. “Why?”

“The surgery earlier with Dr. Helena already made me nearly lose focus. I’m afraid I’ll mess up again if I go.”

“You think a doctor can choose when to be ready and when to run? No, Cole. You don’t get to refuse. You have to come,” he said firmly.
