Chapter 2

Well, it's better for me to stay quiet for now and give Chandra a fitting response. It would be too bold if I were to barge in and disrupt the event at this moment. Perhaps a slight retaliation would be enough before I bring this all to an end. Chandra and Raisa deserve to learn a lesson for playing with fire behind my back.

I finished recording the video after they went inside; I could already imagine what was happening within the orange-colored house. Enjoy your moment of victory, Chandra. Consider yourself the winner for now, but make sure you don't regret this later on.

Before leaving, I tried calling Chandra, just to see how he would react when I interrupted his engagement event. He ignored my calls twice, but on the third call, he answered.

"What's up?" he initiated the conversation.

From my parking spot, I could see Chandra stepping outside and standing on the porch. Turns out he was afraid of being caught.

"Where are you now, Chandra?" I asked.

"I'm, umm, at the housing project office that we're going to work on, Dear," he said.

"Oh, I see. When are you coming back then?" I inquired.

"I might come back a bit late since the journey from here to home takes around two hours," he seemed a bit anxious.

He appeared to be pacing back and forth, his hand on his hip.

"Ah, I see. By the way, Chandra, where is the project located? I forgot," I lied.

"In Malang, dear. I mentioned it to you this morning. Gotta go now, we're having a meeting, don't want to inconvenience others," he said.

"Okay, then. When you come back, you must bring the two types of orders I placed earlier tonight, don't forget to bring the receipts as well. I don't want anything unless it's genuinely from Malang. No compromise! And be careful when you come back. Goodbye," I said, grinning.

"You're really something, acting all strange like this. Why didn't you say you wanted those earlier this afternoon? It's already night!" he protested.

"I felt like having them just now. Besides, I forgot that you're in Malang now, Chandra. It's night? It's only half-past six. Just make sure you bring them when you come back! Or I might get upset!" I warned.

"Your ultimate weapon, the silent treatment! Fine, I'll get them. But remember, I might come back late. You don't have to wait up, just go to sleep," he said.

"That's more like it. I'm getting fonder of you, Chandra. Malang is quite cold, don't mess around!" I said.

"I won't, dear. I won't mess around. Having you is already a blessing for me. Don't think of such things, it's taboo. Alright, gotta go, see you later," he said while rubbing his forehead.

After I ended the call, I saw Chandra still on the porch, talking to someone on the phone. I wonder who he was calling. After he finished the call, he went back inside, still smiling. I decided it was time to head home.

Seems like he was puzzled by my request to bring Malang's traditional treats. Considering the distance between my town and Malang is around a two-hour drive, what could he possibly be planning to do to fulfill my request?

Chandra knows very well that I'm stubborn; whatever I ask for, I get. So, he'll definitely try to fulfill all my requests. For three years of marriage, he's always portrayed himself as a loving, faithful husband, sometimes even submissive to me—almost like I'm the boss in our marriage. But it seems outside, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing. But hey, don't underestimate me, I'm the queen of wolves; you won't easily deceive me.

I wondered about his motivation for cheating on me. Was it because I was too restrictive? Was it because I couldn't take care of myself? Was it because I hadn't given him children? Or were there other reasons that led him to betray me?

But I think he was careless to cheat on me like this. What did I lack? Both I and my late father elevated his status, provided him with comfort and honor. If it weren't for us, he'd probably still be a lowly employee. He only helped my father once, during a minor car accident, which made my father feel indebted and prompted him to arrange my marriage to Chandra.
