I nervously tapped my finger on the wooden table in front of me. Currently Callan, Alpha Kendrik, Luna Christy and I were waiting in a cottage near the west borders. It was meant for border petrol, to rest and stuff while they changed shifts. After I had informed Alpha Kendrik about Peter Welch's case, he had immediately ordered a few border gaurds to escort Peter out of the general prisons and bring him to this very cottage. All four of us were sat around a wooden table, anxiously waiting for the truth to unfold before us."Hey, it'll be okay Anaïs" Callan said to me when he noticed I was getting increasingly nervous as the time ticked by. He gently took hold of my hand which I was nervously tapping on the table and gave it a small squeeze.I looked at him and smiled gratefully but wasn't able to hold the smile much longer, given the grave situation we were in."I'm just worried, that's all" I said, drawing my eyebrows together. I just hoped if I was right, we'd be able to help him.
After we grabbed Peter Welch and his family's records from Alpha Kendrik's office, Callan and I head out for their home. According to the files in our hands, his family home was located in the main wolf residential area, just a couple of houses away from mine. The house was fairly normal just painted white and mint green on the outside unlike most of the houses which were white and a light yellow. It was a normal two story house, with a garden in the front which had grass growing in it and a couple of flowering plants, the front porch had a lovely wooden swing on the left, with a huge glass window right behind it.We climbed the front porch and Callan tried the doorknob but as expected it was locked."Well I feel bad for doing this but-" and with that Callan slammed him side into the door, breaking it open. I heaved out a sigh and stepped besides him. I checked over the doorframe and found what I was looking for: A backup key.I held it in front of the Barbarian's face and rolled my e
It was morning by the time we were done formulating a plan. Daylight crept into conference room 2 through the two salwood windows and we could pick up the chirping of birds outside.I looked around the conference room and saw every single person present was utterly exhausted. We discussed Peter Welch's situation all night long and everytime it seemed as if we had reached to a concrete plan, something would fall through. The most difficult part of our plan would be not being able to shift. After further questioning Peter, we found out that the underground hideout of the rogues was located beneath an abandoned factory in the city where Peter worked. That's how the rogues set their eyes on Peter and his family in the first place. The problem was that since we had to carry out the rescue and capture mission in the city, we couldn't shift in front of the humans. We would have to carry guns with silver bullets and even though pack members are trained with guns and knives as well, we are str
We stopped a mile north from the location of the factory. Callan's team was already waiting there for us. The fighters and trackers with us quickly got out of the car and started gearing up.After saying a last prayer to the goddess in my head, I joined them as well. I strapped a gun Holster around my waist and a knife sheath belt around my ankles just like everybody else. Each of were given helmates with flashlights attached to them and within 10 minutes our entire team was ready to go. Not only are we trained on how to use weapons but we also have drills which teach us how to get our asses locked and loaded in a short time in case of an attack."Okay listen up, just like we were filled in by the chief commander, Ricky, Selvester our two trackers will move in first and Tom would be at the tail in case there are more of these fuckers lurking outside. The first team of trackers will be covered by the fighter's who rode with me. Theo, you take two fighter's and Anais you take the tracke
Callan's POVI felt it in every molecule of my body. It was as if I had been struck by lightning amd my insides were burning but I was cold, so cold at the same time.I was fighting off a shifted rogue when it happened. While I was busy shooting the enemy, a sneaky fucker shifted and latched itself onto my arm by digging his teeth into my flesh. I shot it right between it's eyes and the rogue fell limp.I was about to tune back into the battle when I felt my heart squeeze and burn. My wolf and I instinctively knew Anaïs was hurt, I could feel a small burn in my abdomen, I could feel her pain."Anaïs?!!? Anaïs?!!!" I screamed through our mind link but my words were met with a wall. It was as if her side of the link had suddenly disappeared.A loud and painful growl left my throat. I couldn't leave my men here and neither do I know her position!! My wolf was clawing at my mind, begging for me to run and find our mate but I didn't move, I didn't abandon my fighters and kept on shooting t
Anaïs's POVOne minute I was standing in an underground rogue hideout, protecting a woman and her scared children and the next everything went black.I can't explain all the things I felt except the pain or maybe I don't know what all those feelings and sensations were that I felt after everything went dark. But I could feel the pain which was slowly fading away, sparks took it's place for a while and then I felt nothing. It was weird, I was strangely aware of everything happening to my body and I was able to form thoughts but the past experiences kept fading away and I couldn't remember them."Anaïs?! Anaïs you need to wake up" I heard Isis's voice in my head and even though I was aware I was unconscious, I recognised her but this time I felt her presence more vividly than ever before."Isis? I- I can't it's all dark" I felt myself thinking, I could hear the words I thought but I knew my mouth didn't let out any sound."Just focus on your skin, your human body. You need to wake up An
Anaïs's POVI think everybody was shocked seeing me up and about after...well after I lost my wolf. I think they expected me to cry around for atleast a few more days but I was in all honesty exhausted from crying.Nobody had any idea as to why I lost Isis, apparently this doesn't happen very often. A werewolf losing their wolf is not unheard of, it happens or that's what my research showed. But it has only been recorded to happen in two situations: one, if the wolf deems it's human too unworthy and a serious danger to other creatures and decides to take away his natural advantage and two, if the wolf's mate dies.It has never happened with a simple gunshot wound which is what makes my case unique. I know Isis didn't find me a danger to other living creatures, hell I was out there risking my life trying to save pack members! And I sure as hell didn't lose Callan...so nobody had a single clue as to why this had happened.I was currently sitting in the pack house's kitchen, eating cerea
Sam dragged me straight to Callan's office from the library. She knocked on the door like a crazy woman and barged in without even waiting for a 'come in' from Callan."Uhh what's going on?" A confused Callan asked. He was sitting in his chair, with a pile of paperwork in front of him."Alpha Callan I know how we can get Anaïs's wolf back!" Sam practically screamed at him but I don't think he cared, he was too busy lighting up like Christmas tree when he heard what sam said."How?" He asked standing up, eager to know how we can fix this mess. I could see Sam hesitated when Callan asked her how we can get my wolf back, she knew talking about getting help from a witch especially when it came to me, Callan's ex-mate, was literally asking Callan to blow up on her." I think a soul witch can help" I said before sam could. She found a solution, now it's my job to do the rest. I could see Callan tensed up when I said the word 'witch'."A witch? Anaïs are you sure about this? You know how wit
