Malia’s P.O.V.

“Damn, it’s boring.” A yawn escaped my mouth. “How long should I just stay put and wait for Callisto’s commands? I am not sure if it’ll also come very soon."

It’s been two days since the treasure hunt failed. I referred to it as a failure as I ended up in the wrong room because the servant, who is the mastermind of the game, handed me the wrong key.

I’m thankful that Callisto didn’t get mad at me; instead, he looked amused the day after that night. Not to mention that he’s also the one who brought me back to my room.

Now, he is around, but he’s super busy to the point that we rarely see each other. I’m not complaining though; less time seeing each other means less sex, but of course the pay is still the same.

What a lucky girl I am! Hehe.

“Lady-”

“Ah!” I almost jumped out of my chair when someone spoke behind me. “Cheska? Gosh, you scared me!” Why is she spawning like that?!

She cleared her throat. “I’m sorry for scaring you, lady. But the boss is looking for you. He’s at the main entrance.”

“Oh, I see. Thank you, Cheska. I’ll be there.” Phew. That scared me. I thought a ghost had shown up.

I fix my hair and check my face through the camera of my phone before I head to the main entrance.

I wonder why he’s looking for me.

As I reached the entrance, I saw Callisto talking to his butler. He stopped talking as soon as he saw me. Why does he look more dashing today?

“Come here.” He turned around and headed to his car. He opened the door for me—what a gentleman!

“Uhm, where are we going?”

He starts the car and only glances at me before he finally says, “We’re going to see your brother.”

I gasped. Like literally. “For real?” Is he serious?

“Yeah.” He nodded his head.

Shit. I can’t contain my happiness right now. I never thought that I’d get to visit my brother while I’m working for him.

“How about your enemies? I thought I shouldn’t go out of the house to not get caught up further in your war?” As eager as it may seem, I want to see my brother, but I don't want to risk my life because I don’t want to leave my brother alone in this cruel world.

“I’ve dealt with it.”

That fast? He sure is powerful. But why did he suddenly decide to visit my brother?

They’re not even acquainted, and he only knows of him because of me.

My forehead creased as I thought that maybe he had some other ulterior motives.

“We’ll just visit your brother, nothing more, nothing less. You can put your mind at ease. He glanced at me, “and you can stop thinking badly of me.”

I pouted in embarrassment. Can he read minds?

“I’m not doing that.” I lied. I heard a chuckle, and he said, “Sure, if you say so.”

Damn him. One moment he’s giving me attitude, but now he’s kind?

It TOOK us a couple of hours to reach the hospital. The moment we stepped outside the car, a group of men in black followed suit.

“They’re my men.” Callisto said after noticing that I totally freaked out. Ah, thank goodness.

We went straight to my brother’s room; nothing changed, but there was a basket of flowers on the bedside table. Must be Dorothy’s.

"Hello, Alas.” I held his cold and skinny hands. It’s hard to believe that he was once a happy and joyful kid, but now he’s sleeping like he hasn’t seen the sky since. If only I could transfer his pain to me so he could enjoy his youth...

We stayed there for an hour, talking to the nurse and chilling in the room. Callisto didn’t say anything weird or show any disrespect towards anyone in the hospital; he’s quiet and is just sitting elegantly on the chair. He would go to the window from time to time to look outside.

“Let’s go?” He asks after I finish cleaning the room.

“‘Kay…" I gave my brother a kiss on his forehead before we headed outside.

We were walking down the hallway when I said, “Thank you for bringing me here."

He just nods his head in response.

As soon as we reached the parking lot, I heard a loud screech. Fear consumed my body as I saw a black car moving in our direction at a faster speed.

“Malia!” Callisto’s voice only reached my ear when he had already pulled me.

“Ah!” We both ended up on the ground. And the car that was moving fast just hit the parking lot’s wall. The sound of the crash echoed through the whole place.

“What was that?"

“Damn it!” Callisto pulled me to his car. I hadn't even gotten my hands on the seatbelt when he drove off from the hospital.

“Callisto, what’s happening?! Are they your enemy?!” That’s the only plausible reason I could think of right now. That damn car almost killed us!

Callisto tsked. Shit. I must be right!

“Wait, did they follow us here? What if they found out about my brother? What if they kill him? Callisto!” I was panicking when Callisto held my hand.

“Don’t worry, I’ll move him as soon as possible to ensure his safety.”

I bit my lip. I held his hand tightly as I whispered my prayers. Oh, dear God, please don’t let anything bad happen to my brother; I wouldn’t be able to survive if something happened to him."

My lips started to tremble as I realized that it would be my fault if he got caught up in this mess.

“Shit. Shit. I shouldn’t have come here; it’s my fault.”

I felt Callisto’s hand squeeze mine. “Shh. Stop blaming yourself; I’ll arrange it as soon as possible, don’t worry."

I look at him with teary eyes and say, “Thank you. But, what will happen to that car? What if they’re following us?” I glance at the back of the car to see if something’s following us. But all I see is the car that Callisto’s men occupy.

“Don’t mind them, and they can’t follow us as we’re going to enter a private property.” He lets go of my hand and grabs his phone. I let out a relieved sigh as I heard him order his people to transfer my brother and make it unnoticeable.

“Thank you so much; I don’t deserve all this."

He pats my hands. “Don’t mention it; I was also responsible for this mess. I’m sorry that I dragged you into this.”

I don’t know what to say, but his words are somehow making me calm down a little, he can be kind sometimes.

I let myself calm down by looking at the scenery outside. From what I am seeing, we’re on a road where I can see nothing but trees. He mentioned that this place is private property. Is this place his?

“Would it be alright for you to extend your stay at my place?” My attention went back to him.

“Why?”

He stares at me for a while, as if judging how crazy I am.

“I don’t think you can survive alone when you leave my place. I’m sure my enemies will come after you."

Ah, he’s right.

After giving it a thought, I admit it, he’s right. But how about the deal?

“Then, does this mean our deal would also be extended? Don’t get me wrong, I just want to clear things up."

He tilted his head for a few seconds. “We’ll talk about it later."
