Last Christmas Break

“I miss you” Ella told me over the phone as we were saying our goodbyes after talking for hours.

I escaped from the yearly Christmas eve party my parents threw to talk to Ella who was spending the Christmas in Singapore with her family.

The party was boring and I was tired of faking smiles, exchanging pleasantries that weren't from my heart and most of all my Dad's scrutinising gaze.

Nothing I ever did was good enough for him and that night, it was my shoes that he kept complaining about. He wanted me to wear a pair of Giorgio Armani shoes but I wore Gucci shoes instead and he was pissed. I'm pretty sure if I wore the Giorgio Armani shoes, he'll still find a fault, so I didn't change it and by the way how would I have known he wanted me to wear a pair of Giorgio Armani shoes if he wouldn't tell me.

Typical dad.

I was tired of everything that night and I wanted to hear my girlfriend's voice and of course she made me feel better.
