Chapter 1: She, Who Hates Black Tag Soldiers

“Thief! Thief!” the male police officer was sprinting before me who was running away from him. He was blowing into his whistle countless times that already made him lost his breath, trying to break off the gap between us but then, I didn’t give a damn and just grins while rushing out from his sight.

“If you want to seize this beauteous thief then race with me and don’t be like a sluggish turtle!” I shouted and then speed up without removing the grin on my lips. It was then.

While running I was, meeting a lot of people on the road and holding a sling bag that I didn’t know what the contents were but I felt like I had caught a big catch! If you’re wondering why there are no people stopping me while someone is chasing me and it’s one of the government employee, well, this is how it is on Gale street.

What I was doing was safe and it can’t put me into danger. I was wearing a mask and a black jacket; only then my eyes are eligible to see by others. Also, I’m pro about this because being a thief is my job and my thing!

I turned around and didn’t realize that I was far away from the police who was chasing me. I couldn’t stop laughing and slowed down my pace, “What a boring marathon!” I hissed between my laugh and then tightened the grip to the sling bag I was holding; then put it inside the pocket of my jacket.

After, I walked and blended with the people as if nothing had happened. I put my hands inside the pocket of my jagger then reached for the mask covering my face, removed it, and thrown aside.

There are lots of people coming and going. High street lights and shops nearby. There were also trees standing on the side of the road; others are dead, alive, and have no leaves that seem to have been deprived from life.

The long I take my path, the laughter from different people keep on piercing my ears. I looked at the roadside and saw abandoned childs while their bones was touching their skins. I walk towards them and pulled out some bucks from my pocket. When I looked at the other side of the road, there are drunks disturbing other people passing by.

I sigh at the thought that I was born in this town. I wanted to get myself out of here but maybe, this is where I belong. I continued to walk, wanting to reached my destination at this very instance. As I was walking, I suddenly bump into someone.

I feel like a wall has hit my body because I suddenly backed away. He was tall and I still had to look upward to see his face. When I was planning to look at the man’s face, I stopped to see what was hanging around his neck. The man I just bump into was wearing a black military tag.

I secretly gulp and then prepared my body to walk away. I don’t want to have any contact with a person like him. I need to get out in front of this military guy.

“Hey?” Before the man could speak, I ran away from him. I couldn’t even look back to his direction and left immediately. I didn’t stop running until I reached my destination.

“Oh, what happened Gands? Why are you panting excessively like you join a marathon? Have you been sprinting with a police again?” Chris’s introduction as I entered our hideout.

I didn’t mind Chris and then walk inside, taking the path to the table placed with bottles of water. When I reached the table, I quickly grabbed a bottle of water and immediately spilled it inside my mouth. After, I put back the empty battle on the table then face where Chris is while leaning my back on the table and calming myself from panting.

I can feel the furious beating of my chest, “What happened?” asked Tara, one of the gang. I roamed my eyes at the hideout and there’s Clark, Chris’s twin brother, both of them was walking on our direction. I sigh and then click my tongue.

“I’m in contact with one of them,” the three of them looked at each other and at the same time, looked back at me.

“You mean, someone from the military?” Clark asked and I nodded.

“Then what happened?” asked Tara with intriguing voice. I shrugged my head.

“Nothing happened. As usual, I ran away to leave them. I’m not yet ready to face them, especially, when they are one of the militaries. It’s not the time for me. Not yet,” I said in low voice. I felt Tara pat my shoulder and gently rubs it, giving me a comfort. I look at her and let out a smile.

“We know that it’s hard for you to deal with them especially when you remember someone who can make you feel so bad. Cheer up, Gands! Everything will be fine. Not now but soon,” Chris said then closer the gap between us and ruffles my hair.

“We are here. Always waiting for your acceptance and the time when will you be fully healed by the past. We are one and the ultimate gang so don’t frown and have you catch something?” I looked at Clark with an intense stare and then search the pocket of my jacket that makes me to straighten my stand.

“Why?” Tara asked then stand beside me.

“I didn’t catch something,” I lied. I grope my jacket’s pocket again. I’m sure that I put the sling bag inside but why it was suddenly gone? Did it slip when I was running away or when I bump to someone?

“It’s not yet the end of the world!” I looked at Chris, he was flashing a smile on his face like an idiot, “It’s a big time!”

“Why?” Tara asked, while giggles forming from her mouth. Chris get something out from his back and then wields it in front of us, making me widened my eyes, “It’s a jewelry, limited edition and the highest price in the City of Tranquil!” He then laugh like catching a billion of dollars raining in front of him.

I just gave them a stingy smile, “I will just take a rest,” I said without having energy in my voice. They just nodded and I know that they think, nodding is the best way to give me. I can’t also tell them that it just didn’t someone with a tag but with a black military tag.

When I entered the mini room of the hideout, I immediately went to bed and stared at the ceiling. Why do I even have to bump with one of them? I’m on the process of forgetting and accepting the truth that everything happened six years ago was just part of my father’s job.

But why do I need to bump from one of my father’s former disciples? I hate to be in contact with a black tag soldiers!
