I stayed in the City for three days, and it’s been four days since I was back in Gale. When I was at my mother’s, I forgot about being a thief. I engraved being the only daughter of a late fearless soldier and an heiress of the legendary aerospace engineer.
I was thinking about what my mother has said about telling my gang the truth. It’s a form of betrayal keeping my identity from them. I can risk our friendship, but it’s not yet the time for doing it.
Other than that, it’s been a week since that incident happened when someone almost hooks me from stealing. My heart was raging from nervousness when I remembered the man’s face again. I shook my head and tried to pull those thoughts out of my head.
But it’s already favorable on my side. I absconded from that room when I was almost seized and pressured the gang to abandon the hotel. I was relieved that they do so without any cross-questions. I also did not mention what happened and told them that I was debilitated.
I have many things falsified on my end to them. Being culpable, I left subconscious of that thoughts. One day, everything will be perceived, but now is not the time to spill those secrets I bestowed on myself.
Letting out a deep sigh, I cast out those unhealthy thoughts. I was strolling around Gale’s one of the streets, taking my feet into my preferred mini restaurant, which offered good nourish qualities but was underrated in the food business.
While taking my path to my destination, I was socializing with other people out of my will. Others are staring at me, and I know why. It’s because of my beaming hair that enthralls the passerby’s attentiveness.
Should I dye my hair black? I hate being the center of attraction.
Unbearable feelings were suddenly building over me as I walked along the street, getting more attention from the people. I immediately turned around and found a way that was out on the bunch of people.
While sighing, I started walking again. There aren’t too many people on the current road I’m going through. Stray dogs were walking on the street; some have sores on their bodies, thin skins, and just staring at them feels like noisome. Adding with the sidewalk trash cans while the garbage inside was scattered on the pavements.
I break off my steps when something caught my attention. My eyes were fixed and wide open staring at near the secluded corner of the street. I did not move and remained silent in my position, constantly watching what is happening in front but far away from my eyes.
I was hesitant about acting or waiting for a cue that my thoughts are correct. When I got some indication that leads to erroneous behaviors, my legs stride to reach the corner where birdbrains forced a woman to enter such an undisturbed place.
“What are you doing to her?” I asked with my voice was full and rich. Two men were compelling the woman. Without fear and thinking what these goons look like in front of me will do, I reach for the woman’s arm and gently grab her while hiding her on my back.
The two men did not answer and looked at each other. Because of that, I turned to the woman behind me. I was surprised when I caught her staring at me, “Are you okay?” I asked with a trace of worried in my voice.
My question to the woman was left unaddressed. Instead, she pulls herself away from me, making my brows knitted. Her movements were suspicious. Is it the right thing to save her from these men who were forcing her to go with them?
“I’ve already done my part. Where’s my money?” the woman suddenly muttered, making my heartbeat furiously when I lay hold on what was happening.
One of the men in front of me suddenly fished something from his pocket. Later on, he was already holding a stocky of dollars and handed it to the woman behind me. I was left in awe while the woman quickly picked up the money given to her.
“What’s happening?” I asked in disbelief. The woman just looked at me and immediately turned away. But then, she paused and look back with a smile on her face.
“I’m sorry. I just did it to make money. There is nothing wrong with that because I worked hard to get it, and it would be a pity if I refused. Big cash was at stake!” the woman said as she waved the money she was holding in front of her. I was about to open my mouth when she quickly takes her steps out from us.
“Finally. You’ve fallen to my trap.”
My body was stunned because of the familiar husky but deep voice. Even though my mind was full of hunches, I turned my body to face my side. A pair of monolid brown eyes greeted me, making me gasp for air.
My body was exhausted as I stared at the man with thick eyebrows walking directly in my direction. Without a doubt, he was the man who caught me a week ago in ZF Hotel. What is he doing here? Fallen into his trap?
“Pardon?” the man suddenly stopped, and without knowing the reason, his face looks pleased while flashing a grin on his sultry lips.
“Who are you? What trap are you talking about?” I asked skeptically. From my peripheral vision, the two men in front of me created movements, but the man walking in my side motioned them; without any complaints, they stayed in their position.
My startled eyes meet the man’s brown eyes, making my chest beat in a deviating manner. The feeling of being caught by him last week in the hotel returned. I’m not wary about his presence and already thinking about how to do a bunk from them.
“This luring style is productive, and I was victorious for you to fall into my hands.”
I creased my forehead thinking about this man’s words. What is he talking about?
My face crinkled in bewilderment about this man’s words. What is he talking about? “This luring style is productive, and I was victorious for you to fall into my hands,” he said while taking his steps closer to mine, “Those white hair of yours, I can’t help but confine them on my hands.” My right eyebrow rose as I stared at the man walking in my direction, “What are you saying? Are you mistaking me for someone?” I confusedly ask. My question was left unrefuted by the man who suddenly closed the gap between us. I was startled when he reached my jaw, pulling my face closer to him. “You are under suspicion, but I’m sure barking up the right sunflower.” “What do you want?” “You.” I quickly removed my face from his hands with my gaze open-mouthed. I tied my tongue and promptly turned away from his direction. I was abo
It’s been two days. I’m here inside our hideout, sitting in front of the table while facing a laptop. “This is the first time you’ve borrowed a laptop, GD. Where are you going to use that? ” Tara muttered behind me and felt her sitting next to me. I did not mind looking in her direction and opened the chrome; then, I let my fingers press the letters on the keyboard before the screen flashed someone’s information. “Zygo Fiernan?” Tara asked when her eyes landed on the laptop as I remained my face straight to the front, “You know him?” I shrugged while scrolling on the man’s profile, “Why are you having an interest in him then?” My hands stopped. I looked at Chris and Clark playing chess to our right before turning it over to Tara. “Can’t I just stalk him without having an interest?” She raised her right brow, shooting
“Hey, officer. Can I borrow a phone?” I asked the policeman who passed by while I was inside the jail. He ignored me and just kept walking.I’ve been incarcerated for three hours, and that antipathetic tycoon had left before I was put behind this jail. I was begging to borrow a phone, but they ignored me.I sighed and immediately left near the railings. Fortunately, I was the only one in the cell and have been standing until now, asking them a favor to lend me a phone.I swiftly sat down in the corner because I was already feeling tiredness in my body. While sitting at the corner, I pressed my palms together. I didn’t expect that man to actually do what he said. Is he that desperate?I don’t know how he got the arrest warrant, and I can’t do anything, especially since he showed them a video earlier as proof when the police interroga
“Good morning, sweetheart.”A familiar voice greeted me when I opened my eyes.I looked for my mother. She was standing in front of the enormous window and had just opened the closed cream-colored curtain.“How long have you been here?” I asked, still lying on the bed.“Can you hear your voice, sweetheart? You sound strained. How much did you spend drinking in a pub?” she asked, walking in my direction.“I just drank eight glasses of Roberta, mom. I’m not that intoxicated with alcohol,” I groaned when I tried to sit up from lying. My head hurt, and my back was in pain.“Then, do you know who brings you here?” I stared at my mother, who was walking towards me. She sat down next to me and swiftly stroked my hair.I tried to remember what happened
“Looks like your knight was at the right time, my damsel in distress.” I immediately stared at the face of the person next to me as he held the drunk man’s wrist. What is he doing here? “Who are you, asshole!” We both turned our gazes at the drunk man. “I’m her man,” the man beside me boldly said. He then released the drunk man’s hand forcedly, “Leave before my eyes cannot find the reason to spare you from touching my property.” My left brow raised as I turned my eyes again on the man beside me. “Excuse me?” I asked. He looks at me while grinning. “Are you okay?” “Don’t be so high on yourself, tycoon. I’m not your property. No one owns me.” “Well. No one also needs your permission. I can mark everything I want,” this tycoon said and then smirked while looking ba
“There will be a big auction at Tranquil that will happen tonight,” Chris said. We are inside the hideout, discussing our next move. I had lunch yesterday with that Zygo, and it did not go well. He had a lot of questions, but I remained silent the whole time while I was with him. I ignored his chatter. I did not assume that a tycoon like him was that kind of person. His mouth is more feminine than mine. “Dhara, are you listening?” I was startled by Clark’s question, but I tried to hide it. “Uh, yes. Go ahead.” “What kind of auction, Chris?” Tara asked; she’s beside me, firmly staring at Chris. “A jewelry and antique auction,” Chris answered. “Is it safe?” Clark asked with an unwelded voice. “We won’t know if we won’t try.” “What are you thinking, Chris! GD
“Let’s do our best,” Chris whispered while we walked inside the building. I turned behind us, and we were far between Tara and Clark. Many people wore formal attire while holding expensive wine glasses. We walk among the rippling crowds. “Besides the underground auction, what other event is going on tonight in this building, Chris?” I asked in a low voice as I anchored my hands on my friend’s arm. “A birthday party, but obviously, it’s just a cover of the ongoing auction behind. As I said earlier, Clark and Tara will attend the party, and we will enter the bidding.” Chris said as we walked continuously. Tara was against this because Chris chose me to be his partner at the auction. She even complained that Clark could go instead of me. Actually, I really don’t know why Chris asked me to be with him in the first place w
It’s already ten minutes since Chris left me while the auction for the Pandora ring’s still ongoing.“You look stunning. Just like the first time we saw each other, you are wearing black. A color used for sophisticated, brave, elegant, and mysterious person.”I immediately looked up. A man wearing a face mask was standing behind me.“Mind if I sit beside you, my damsel?” he asked, but then, he suddenly sat down without my answer.I was shocked because I prayed that our paths would never meet again last time, but the world is playing with me here.I let out a deep sigh, ignoring this tycoon’s existence. I focus on the platform. I couldn’t help but pursue my lips as I stared at the ring placed on the table. It was tempting me.“You like that?” the man beside
