Chapter 4: Lured by the City’s Billionaire

I stayed in the City for three days, and it’s been four days since I was back in Gale. When I was at my mother’s, I forgot about being a thief. I engraved being the only daughter of a late fearless soldier and an heiress of the legendary aerospace engineer.

I was thinking about what my mother has said about telling my gang the truth. It’s a form of betrayal keeping my identity from them. I can risk our friendship, but it’s not yet the time for doing it.

Other than that, it’s been a week since that incident happened when someone almost hooks me from stealing. My heart was raging from nervousness when I remembered the man’s face again. I shook my head and tried to pull those thoughts out of my head.

But it’s already favorable on my side. I absconded from that room when I was almost seized and pressured the gang to abandon the hotel. I was relieved that they do so without any cross-questions. I also did not mention what happened and told them that I was debilitated.

I have many things falsified on my end to them. Being culpable, I left subconscious of that thoughts. One day, everything will be perceived, but now is not the time to spill those secrets I bestowed on myself.

Letting out a deep sigh, I cast out those unhealthy thoughts. I was strolling around Gale’s one of the streets, taking my feet into my preferred mini restaurant, which offered good nourish qualities but was underrated in the food business.

While taking my path to my destination, I was socializing with other people out of my will. Others are staring at me, and I know why. It’s because of my beaming hair that enthralls the passerby’s attentiveness.

Should I dye my hair black? I hate being the center of attraction.

Unbearable feelings were suddenly building over me as I walked along the street, getting more attention from the people. I immediately turned around and found a way that was out on the bunch of people.

While sighing, I started walking again. There aren’t too many people on the current road I’m going through. Stray dogs were walking on the street; some have sores on their bodies, thin skins, and just staring at them feels like noisome. Adding with the sidewalk trash cans while the garbage inside was scattered on the pavements.

I break off my steps when something caught my attention. My eyes were fixed and wide open staring at near the secluded corner of the street. I did not move and remained silent in my position, constantly watching what is happening in front but far away from my eyes.

I was hesitant about acting or waiting for a cue that my thoughts are correct. When I got some indication that leads to erroneous behaviors, my legs stride to reach the corner where birdbrains forced a woman to enter such an undisturbed place.

“What are you doing to her?” I asked with my voice was full and rich. Two men were compelling the woman. Without fear and thinking what these goons look like in front of me will do, I reach for the woman’s arm and gently grab her while hiding her on my back.

The two men did not answer and looked at each other. Because of that, I turned to the woman behind me. I was surprised when I caught her staring at me, “Are you okay?” I asked with a trace of worried in my voice.

My question to the woman was left unaddressed. Instead, she pulls herself away from me, making my brows knitted. Her movements were suspicious. Is it the right thing to save her from these men who were forcing her to go with them?

“I’ve already done my part. Where’s my money?” the woman suddenly muttered, making my heartbeat furiously when I lay hold on what was happening.

One of the men in front of me suddenly fished something from his pocket. Later on, he was already holding a stocky of dollars and handed it to the woman behind me. I was left in awe while the woman quickly picked up the money given to her.

“What’s happening?” I asked in disbelief. The woman just looked at me and immediately turned away. But then, she paused and look back with a smile on her face.

“I’m sorry. I just did it to make money. There is nothing wrong with that because I worked hard to get it, and it would be a pity if I refused. Big cash was at stake!” the woman said as she waved the money she was holding in front of her. I was about to open my mouth when she quickly takes her steps out from us.

“Finally. You’ve fallen to my trap.”

My body was stunned because of the familiar husky but deep voice. Even though my mind was full of hunches, I turned my body to face my side. A pair of monolid brown eyes greeted me, making me gasp for air.

My body was exhausted as I stared at the man with thick eyebrows walking directly in my direction. Without a doubt, he was the man who caught me a week ago in ZF Hotel. What is he doing here? Fallen into his trap?

“Pardon?” the man suddenly stopped, and without knowing the reason, his face looks pleased while flashing a grin on his sultry lips.

“Who are you? What trap are you talking about?” I asked skeptically. From my peripheral vision, the two men in front of me created movements, but the man walking in my side motioned them; without any complaints, they stayed in their position.

My startled eyes meet the man’s brown eyes, making my chest beat in a deviating manner. The feeling of being caught by him last week in the hotel returned. I’m not wary about his presence and already thinking about how to do a bunk from them.

“This luring style is productive, and I was victorious for you to fall into my hands.”

I creased my forehead thinking about this man’s words. What is he talking about?
