Chapter 16
Dreams of blue skies and a warm body to share it with filled my head, stirring my desire until the soft hand stroking my cheek broke through the imagined pleasure. I opened my eyes to see Icaan only a little way away from me, his hand cupping my cheek.
"Wake up sleepy head. We're docked on Antiga," he said but the words didn't entirely register. What did he mean we were on Antiga? We were on my home world and I'd just shown him my favourite place to sit and watch the ships take off.
Almost instinctively I leaned up and kissed him, his scent keeping my mind half drowned in the romantic sweetness of the fading dream. He pulled back and chuckled.

Deeper into the city I was starting to get used to the different sights and smells and sticking closer to Icaan. The relief was immediate the moment the hatch on Icaan's ship shut behind us both. Icaan didn't take the leash and collar off me right away, but he disconnected it from him so he could install the water canister he'd come back with.I was still standing by the door when he came back."Okay, there's clearly something bothering you. We stayed cuddling at the dining table for some time, a blanket draped around me and my body in his arms. I tried not to think about what I'd done and instead focused on how much better I felt.Eventually a beeping from the cockpit disturbed us and Icaan picked me up and put me down on the bench the other side of the table."That will be our window to get in the air. I woke alone, my hands bound together and my feet the same. Sighing I realized I was still on the mattress in the middle of Icaan's room. Still a captive and still being taken toward the Frentin market. Where I would be officially registered as a new human slave and sold to the highest bidder.It was almost enough to make a person feel sick. Suddenly there was clear space ahead of me and I sat back, my shoulders and arms aching from the tension. Almost immediately Icaan flicked the ship onto autopilot."Nice flying," he said. We sat down to eat lunch together, and again I'd prepared us something. It was yet another attempt of mine to make myself seem worth keeping, and Icaan moaned in delight as soon as he tucked into the food."You can definitely handle food well," he replied. Tired, and not sure what to do with myself, I continued to sit in the gunner's seat on Icaan's ship and tried to work out how I could get Icaan to talk more. There had to be some way to get him to open up. But he ignored me, not even flying the ship, but sitting in the pilot's seat anyway."So, what makes a slave valuable?" I asked. The minutes ticked by, our ship beginning to inch ahead after some more rerouting of power from me, and some very impressive flying from Icaan. I'd opted to help him in the end, and see if I could win myself any more favor, but the truth was, if he hadn't been towing my ship we'd have been long gone."Let me power up the engine on my ship and at least vaguely steer it in the right direction.""You can't. I stripped too many parts out. And before you suggest that you could at least lower the resistance it causes I've already set it not to be a burden as much as possible.
