Chapter 9: He Intends to Give Her Away

Author: Yingtaohongle
"Brother." Lillian Veblen's heart skipped a beat, her clear black and white eyes widening involuntarily. She had intended to call him by his name, but considering their current relationship, she quickly corrected herself.

Bernard Coleridge was dressed in a high-end, custom-made black suit that accentuated his tall, sturdy figure. His chiseled features were deep and cold, exuding an aura of nobility and inviolability.

Lillian Veblen's face twitched for quite some time before she managed to force out an awkward smile. She really wanted to bang her head against a brick wall; how could she have so coincidentally stumbled into Bernard Coleridge's arms?

Was that the sound of footsteps just now from Bernard Coleridge? How much of her entanglement with Armand Coleridge did he see?

"Where are you going?" A glint flashed through Bernard Coleridge's deep, dark eyes. His handsome face remained expressionless as he looked down at her, his voice low and cold, questioning her.

"I'm going to work," Lillian Veblen replied, waving her hand nervously and hastily making her escape.

Although they were once engaged, she had been drugged at a hotel and ended up marrying his younger brother. Since then, her first reaction upon seeing Bernard Coleridge was always to flee in guilt.

Who could blame her for cheating on him and leaving him behind?

"Why aren't you getting your car?" Bernard Coleridge's gaze, filled with a mix of depth and confusion, lingered on her. The direction she was running in was clearly opposite to where the garage was located.

Lillian Veblen's back stiffened, and she stopped in her tracks.

"I... uh... my car is broken..." She quickly came up with an excuse, her eyes darting around.

In reality, she had just scolded Armand Coleridge near her car. If she went back to get her car now, and if Armand Coleridge was still there, wouldn't she be walking right into a trap?

"I'll take you!" Bernard Coleridge's deep voice carried an authoritative tone, even without anger.

"No, thank you," Lillian Veblen almost instinctively refused and hurriedly ran off.

The Coleridge family was one of the top elite families in the country, wielding immense power in S City. Their mansion naturally stood at the highest point in the luxurious residential area, surrounded by mountains and water.

This was the most opulent part of S City, where only the rich and powerful could afford to live. Each mansion was equipped with professional indoor and outdoor entertainment facilities, various leisure squares, and each household owned land spanning over a hundred acres.

Residents here traveled exclusively by private cars, so there were almost no buses or taxis. The bus stops were primarily for the maids, bodyguards, and other workers. The public buses passed by punctually every day, but their frequency was limited, and they didn't wait for latecomers.

Unfortunately for Lillian Veblen, when she finally reached the bus stop at the top of the mountain, the bus had just left. The next bus would not arrive for at least two hours, which was too long for her to wait.

So, she decided to walk down the mountain, hoping to catch a passing taxi along the way.

Carrying her bag, Lillian Veblen walked slowly down the pedestrian path. The sun had already risen, and the ground temperature was rising, making the air hot and oppressive. After a short while, she was drenched in sweat.

She was hesitating whether to find a shady spot to rest when she suddenly heard the sound of a car approaching from behind.

Her heart leaped with joy, and she turned around quickly.

A sleek, expensive Bentley was speeding towards her. Its glossy black body, under the glaring sunlight, was exceptionally eye-catching, exuding an overwhelming and arrogant presence.

With just a glance, Lillian Veblen recognized it as a limited-edition luxury car, undoubtedly worth a fortune.

Encountering such a luxury car in this wealthy area wasn't unusual, but none of the people she knew drove a Bentley.

Hesitant, Lillian Veblen didn't reach out to stop the car. But to her surprise, the Bentley actually pulled up beside her.

"How is the surgery going?"Accompanied by Vanessa Luke and An Zihao, Lillian Veblen rushed to the ICU ward where Mo Yuezhen was lying. Armand Coleridge had just wheeled out of the chief doctor's office.Armand Coleridge's gaze swept over Vanessa Luke and An Zihao; they nodded at him, and he nodded back in acknowledgment. Time had passed, and Vanessa Luke and An Zihao now had a child, and the naive feelings Vanessa Luke once held for Armand Coleridge had long since dissipated."The surgery was successful, but..." Armand Coleridge hesitated, his words trailing off."But what?" Lillian Veblen anxiously pressed."But he hasn't woken up yet, and the doctors aren't sure when he will. It could be a day, a week, or even a year, five years... or maybe he'll never wake up!" Armand Coleridge sighed softly.Lillian Veblen felt a jolt in her head, as if something heavy had struck her chest. "You mean... he might become a vegetative patient?""That's what the doctor said," Armand Coleridge n

It was that bitch Lillian Veblen and that lawyer who colluded to take my share! I'm just asking them to return what's mine.
