Chapter 5

I stood there mouth open and eyes wide, when Lina said a private jet I never thought she was telling the truth. I thought she said that just for my mother’s sake. She chuckled and nudged me.

“Close your mouth, love. People would think that I have kidnapped you or something.” I turned and gaped at her.

“Who the hell are you, really?” She winked and adjusted her sunglasses, even though there was no freaking sun at all.

“I’m a princess sweetheart, you are a friend of a royalty.” I scrunched up my nose and followed her to the plane.

“You are pulling my leg now, right? Stop joking around and tell me the truth.” She winked at me and went for the small stairs that will help her ascend the plane.

The pilot and the flight attendant greeted her. “Lady Ascelina, It is an honor to have you with us today.”

They said while they looked at their feet. I stopped and gawked at them. The man was freaking big. His suit barely contained him and he didn’t meet Lina’s face. The action looked..odd.

Lina disappeared inside and I shook my head and followed her, but they repeated the same action again.

“Lady Sarah, it is an honor to have you here today.” I splattered. “Um… ah… Thank you?” I said and almost ran inside, making Lina chuckle.

“You are so awkward in everything except dancing.” I glared at her.

“I’m not, it is you. You always do things like this and confuse the hell out of me. What the fuck all of this is about?” She rolled her eyes and sat more comfortably in her big, fancy chair.

“As I told you before, I’m royalty.” I huffed and sat on the side opposite to her. ”Are you related to the queen of England?”

She giggled again; she was in a real good mood today.

“Nope, not even close. But I know someone who is.” She hummed and thought for a moment.

“I will introduce you to him at the party. He is a great man.” I rolled my eyes. Sometimes I don’t know if she was joking or telling the truth. Her face was always neutral.

“At least tell me, where are we going?” The woman from before came back holding two flutes of champagne and some nuts.

“You will know soon, it is only twenty-something hours.” I choked, almost spitting the bubbly liquid.

“What? Where are we going?” She sighed and closed her eyes.

“Home.”

She was right; it took us like twenty-four hours or more to get to our destination and for the second time; I looked through the window speechless.

This is an island. I looked at Lina, then looked back down at the amazing view.

“You live on an island?” She looked at me, her face smiling softly.

“No love, we own an island. Or my brother does. Females own shit in my family.” I looked at her confused for a second, but my eyes were drawn back to the island and I gasped when I saw it.

There ahead of us, at the end of the island, there was a huge castle. It was a big intimidating thing, but at the same time, it looked majestic.

Lina came over and rubbed her cheek against mine, then kissed it softly.

“I’m so happy that you are enjoying this so far.” I beamed at her, my eyes still fixated on the beautiful scene.

The flight attendant came back and helped us buckle up after the pilot’s announcement that we will land.

I was giddy and my body shook with excitement. I stood waiting for the door to open and Lina bit her lips beside me, trying not to laugh at my antics.

On another day I would have slapped her, but right now I didn’t care I felt excited about this new adventure.

The moment the door opened I ran out, but when I was out and my feet touched the ground I stopped and took a full circle. This place looked beautiful, beyond otherworldly.

I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes; the air was clean and salty. It burned my lungs but I loved it. I took off my light cardigan and slippers and ran to the shore.

I jumped up and down, playing with the cool water, and splashed it everywhere, and wet myself. But I didn’t care.

I heard Lina chuckle in the background. “Come on, we will come again. I’m hungry.” I pouted and grumbled under my breath.

“You are always eating; I don't know how you are so skinny like this.” Someone to my right chuckled and I jumped, I didn’t notice him.

“She was always like this, even when she was younger.” I looked at the big man approaching us and inched closer to my friend.

If I thought the pilot was big, this man looked huge. He stood in front of us and bowed a little.

“Welcome back, princess. It has been a while.” I gasped, princess!

“Thank you, Dylan. How are you doing? And how is my asshole brother?” She said, offering him her cheek, and he rubbed his against hers like she usually does with me.

“His majesty is doing well. But he won’t be if he heard you.” A few men who were behind us laughed silently.

“I don’t give a fuck and you know it. Anyway, this is my friend Sarah. Sarah, this is Dylan, my brother’s…..assistant and best friend. He is family.”

I offered the man my hand for a shake, and he clasped it tightly, then pulled me and rubbed our cheeks together.

“It is an honor to finally meet you, Lady Sarah.” I looked at him with a frown. “It is? You know about me?” He smiled and nodded his head.

“You are Princess Ascelina’s family, so you are ours too.” I blushed and looked down and tried not to bite my lips nervously.

He was a handsome man, with tanned skin and warm brown eyes. And those eyes were interested in me; I didn’t miss his heated looks. Lina slapped his arm.

”Stop flirting with my friend, Dy. She is a virgin and a hopeless romantic. So fuck off.” I glared at her while Dylan chuckled.

“I couldn’t help it, Princess. Sarah is a beautiful woman.” I bit my lower lip and looked down again, but I snapped my eyes up again when I heard a soft growl.

“Keep it in your pants boy or I will cut it off. He laughed and shook his head. “Let’s go, princess, everybody is waiting for you.”

I trailed behind them; my eyes looked everywhere trying to take everything around us. And each time we passed someone by, they waved with big smiles on their faces.

It felt as if everyone here was happy to see us, which was weird. I guess Lina was a loved princess. I frowned.

My mind still can’t believe that my best friend was a princess and her brother was the current king. It felt surreal. I gave her a side glance, checking her from head to toes.

She didn’t look any regal to me. And what the hell did her brother rule?

Dylan caught my wandering eyes and gave me a charming wink and I ducked my head down shyly. There was a wince, and then a growl. I searched around then asked.

“Do you have any kind of wild animals here? I keep hearing these growls all the time.” Lina smiled apologetically.

“I forgot to tell you that we have a few packs of wolves here. They are the island natives.”

I frowned. “It is an island. How come there are wolves here and they are natives too?!” Dylan chuckled, making Lina huff.

“She isn’t just a pretty face. She is smart.” I glared at him.

“I will have to take that as a compliment. Because if I didn’t do that, I will really get offended.”

Lina slapped him upside his head and the man ducked it, his ears getting red.

“Ignore this ass. Yes, sweetheart. They are natives because our ancestors brought them along when they settled down here. And don’t worry; they are friendly even though they are huge and burly.” I laughed.

“Since when were wolves friendly? They kill people all the time in the US.” She waved her hands dismissively.

“Not our wolves. They are cute and cuddly.”

I chuckled again, but the breath left my lungs when we stopped in front of the castle’s walls. Lina Came and stood beside me and whispered.

“It is gorgeous, isn't it? Welcome to Themyscira. Fantasy Island.I breathed out in response.

“Yes, beautiful.” Dylan stood beside me on the other side.

“Indeed, it is.” An older woman came out running and hugged Lina tightly.

“Daughter, I missed you so much.” The woman’s voice quivered.

“I have missed you a lot too, mother. Come and meet my best friend Sarah.” Both women hugged for a few moments, then faced me.

“Mom, this is Sarah, the friend I told you about. Sarah, this is my mother, Acidalia.” I accepted Lina's mom outstretched hands and hugged her.

“You can call me Dalia, sweetheart.” I smiled softly against her chest and sighed. So this is how mother gave you hugs.

“Come, you must be tired from your long journey. I have prepared a room for Sarah in the east wing next to Asce’s.” I followed them, my eyes wide and impressed.

This place was giving me the medieval aura. It looked big and haunted, and at the same time, it was warm and inviting.

My room on the upper floor was something out of a fairy tale. It has a fireplace and two large windows. Through one of them, I can clearly see the azure sea.

Its waves lapped at the castle’s walls and the sound made my spirit soar. But the most fascinating thing was the large four poster bed with those velvety red curtains.

“Wow. I’m speechless.” Lina’s mother patted my back softly.

“The east wing is all yours. You can go wherever you want, my dear. But the north wing is the king’s, so please don’t go there uninvited.”

I nodded my head when she looked at me sternly and when she was satisfied with my answer, she turned back to Lina.

“Your brother has asked for you, we can’t keep him waiting.”

When they left, I went through every nook and cranny of my new room. It was much bigger than my mother’s penthouse in New York.

When I was done, I plopped down on the soft bed and closed my eyes tiredly. I think this is going to be one of my best vacations ever.
