Roderick's POV

“What a switch of emotions. You’re no longer pissed?” Ray asked as I sank back into the chair, finally regaining control of my wolf.

“What do you mean?" I muttered without looking at him, rocking the chair back and forth to calm my thoughts.

"You’re no longer pissed that your mate is scrubbing floors because your girlfriend told her to? Now that Sophie knows Kyra is your mate, don’t you think this will hurt her even more?"

I pressed my fingers against my temples and glared at Ray. The guy nagged like an old grandmother—maybe he was supposed to be a woman.

“Ray, stop talking.” I shut my eyes, but I could still feel the weight of his gaze on me. It made me shift uncomfortably in my seat like I had done something bad.

“No, I’m just being honest. Wouldn’t it be easier if you rejected her? Let her know she doesn’t stand a chance—that she’s only here for one reason and—"
