Sera

The memories of the past days were a blur. I could faintly recall being turned over in my sleep, the faint jab of pain that travelled through my body from my abdomen.

The occasional times my eyes were glued to the ceiling; unseeing while spoonfuls of porridge was forced down my throat.

Every time it was over, I would fall back into a deep sleep that seems to drain all my energy and my mind would replay previous events.

It kept replaying a particular one.

The faithful night I walked into my

AlaricThe door locked softly behind me and within seconds a loud crash filled my ears alongside the shattering of glass.I pressed my back against the door, fist clenched, shadows flaring and my vision almost blurry.I listened to the hard thumping of her heart, could imagine her lips parted in anger as she stared murderously at the door. Her lips.I closed my eyes and relished the taste of her that still remained on mine, my eyes going dark and the shadows raging more wildly at the thoughts. She should have died in the cave.It could have been a better ending for her. Now, I didn't know anything was going to turn out.The one thing I had to make sure of, was for Sera to continue to hate me.In any way possible. Her hatred had to remain constant.I walked away from the door the minute her heart beat turned gentle and a soft snore filled the room.I made a show of walking through the corridor where I was bound to be seen by the servants who would in turn gossip about it and it'll reac

SeraI felt my bones freeze up at his words and searched his gaze in the mirror before us.A faint smile played at the edge of his lips as his fingers worked quickly and with expert precision to undo my corset.“What do you mean consummate, Alaric? I'm not ready for that.!” I shrieked and tried moving from him again. His other hand held my wheelchair still while he pulled the last string of the corset.A pleasurable groan nearly left my lips.“If I leave it up till whenever you're ready, you might as well die a virgin.I don't have that patience and you have a duty to fulfil as Luna.”“The duty of being your legal breeder?” I challenged myself. He raised his hands in a defeated pose, his eyes on mine in the mirror.“Hey, you said it, not me.” I pursued my lips and pinched the tips of my fingers repeatedly, a habit that was meant to calm me down but was doing the opposite right now.Alaric's gaze washed over me through the mirror, landing on my fingers before moving to my hair.He pul

SeraThe walk felt agonizingly slow. The woman who escorted me seemed to match her steps to the drop of the music.I clasped my hands in my lap, fingers twirling the silver bracelet around my wrists carefully as we closely approached the altar. Then I let my eyes wander to Alaric.I had felt his eyes on me the minute the doors were thrown open and made sure not to give him the satisfaction of returning the stare. But now, he was so close I couldn't help taking a glance at him.He moved to clasp his hand behind his back, powerful muscles rippling beneath the black suit he wore.I could still make out the shadows on him. They didn't flare like they always did, instead they settled around his body like bees enjoying a harvest of nectar. My wheelchair came to a stop with my eyes still pinned on him.The corner of his lips lifted in a smirk as our gazes clashed then he turned towards the officiating elder. The wedding began with a short preaching, the usual reminder of what marriage entail

SeraI gritted my teeth and curled my fingers around the wheels to stop us from moving.“I don't need your help. Just like I didn't need it earlier.” I choked out.“I know you don't. I'm just feeling generous.” He answered.I could almost hear the smile in his words.“Oh. One would have thought you'd be prostrate with grief since a bride has finally survived your cave of doom.”I almost regretted the words as they left my lips as the air dropped a few degrees and the shadows that coated his body flared.A wisp of the shadow floated from him, curled around my wrists and loosened my grip and he began to wheel me down the corridor to my bedroom.I bit my lips trying to memorize how the shadow felt on my wrist. Its hold was soft, yet firm, like a subconscious feeling. How was I going to recognize it if his shadow touched me in my sleep? He pushed my door open and dragged me through it, depositing my chair in front of a tall mirror I knew was brought in specifically for the wedding.“Thank

SeraMy eyes parted and I found myself still surrounded by darkness.A panic bubbled up in my throat as I thought I had also lost my sight before I recalled where I was.Where I was thrown into.I lifted my head which felt like two men swinging sledge hammers inside and looked in the direction I assumed my wheelchair was.I crawled towards it, the smashed bones on the ground pricking my skin and leaving a trail of blood where I passed. My fingers closed around the chair and with a heave that reminded me of my parched throat, I lifted myself into the chair. There wasn't even a crack for some light to find its way through. Was it already morning? How long have I been out for?I pressed the heels of my palm to my eyes, my mind immediately filled with the images of a silver glowing wolf. The mirage.I wished it was real.In the moment it felt so real. So real I could imagine her warm nuzzle brushing my chin.“I am real, Sera.” A mildly annoyed voice echoed in my head.I stiffened, blinked
