The maidens gathered round Maris, buttering her face up in make up and pulling the straps on the waist of her gown to tighten and swallow her already flat stomach. 

She cussed underneath her breath, holding her breath as they pulled. The pure hatred she had for Linda was displayed in her facial expression. She could kill her with a gun if she had the opportunity.

She couldn't believe Linda traded her for her own selfish reasons. She thought Linda was a good woman, a good mother at that. 

"Chin up." A lady with a silvery voice ordered and Maris reluctantly did it. "Pout your lips now."

Maris rolled her eyes and pouted, watching as the woman with cheeks like buns that were soaked in oil coat her lips with a red lipstick. 

"Aww, see how beautiful the king's wife looks." Soaked buns held a hand to her chest with a soft look in her forest green eyes. 

"I'm not the king's wife," seethed Maris with an angry line above her eye br
