~Alayasia~

I wanted to ignore Houston’s offer for the tour, I really did. Of course, I want to see the pack and familiarize myself with it. I’m not so sure that I will be here long, so I’m not sure it’s even worth it. I think it would be safer for everyone if we found somewhere else to be. I don’t want Maxim to cause trouble here trying to get me back.

Zara expressed the need to use the restroom, and I wanted to freshen up before we went. I should be trying to keep my distance from Houston, but I can’t help myself. I wish I had stayed in the kitchen.

We step into the hallway, and all the air leaves my body. Houston is standing close to the wall, but it’s the person in front of him that has me in my feelings. A word to describe her is gorgeous. She’s tall and her body is muscular. I’m not a fighter, but if I were, I’d definitely lose to her. Her skin is golden brown, which shines no matter where you look at it. Her skinny jeans caress every curve, and yeah, she has curves I could onl

  • Changing Her Fate   What's Going On?

~Alayasia~I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around my body. I stare at myself in the mirror, taking in the obvious changes. My collarbone is not as visible as it used to be. I’m actually a bit thicker than I used to be. I’m not being starved anymore or mistreated. It’s nice to see the old me in the mirror. I’ve missed her; it’s been way too long. My body still feels heavy, and I’m exhausted. I would love to sleep longer, but I really need to be up for Zara. It would be weird if I didn’t tend to her at all today. I don’t need anyone asking any questions. Maybe I need a better plan for if I ever use this much energy again. I can’t be caught in a dangerous situation because I didn’t plan ahead. I plan to head after the shower. Getting food in my system will help me regain my strength. Maybe I can convince Zara to engage in a low-key activity that will allow me to rest more. I don’t think I’m going to get much work done today, so the plan needs to be to start fresh tomorrow. I

  • Changing Her Fate   Where's Alayasia?

I said what I said in Tyrice’s room, but the entire incident kept gnawing at me. I’m not sure why I can’t let it go, but it just won’t disappear. I knew I had to see Alayasia. Tyrice is being released from the clinic, and I sent Jakob to go get him. We’ve been running trainings and keeping the pack running smoothly as they worry about their Alpha’s health. Knowing Tyrice, he’ll want to go back to a full workload the moment he steps into the packhouse. I plan to use that time to go check on Alayasia. The office door opens, and Tyrice walks in. If I didn’t know any better, I would have never guessed he had a life-threatening injury just last night. He looks as healthy as he has in the past. He walks over to me and stands behind me. “I know you missed me, but you don’t have to hover. You weren’t even in the clinic that long.” Thankfully, the tap on my head didn’t have much strength behind it. “Move along, Killa. I got this now.”“Shouldn’t you be resting or something? I’d imagine the

  • Changing Her Fate   She's Human

~Houston~I don’t think I’ve ever rushed to the clinic so quickly. Receiving that call in the middle of the night was unexpected, but greatly appreciated. I ran into Jakob along the way, and we chose speed over shared words. I was beating myself up after that rogue attack, as I’m sure Jakob was. We are usually the ones who would be first in the midst of a rogue attack. Tyrice has never been one to shy away from a fight, but we decided, long ago, that there’s no point in risking the Alpha if it isn’t necessary. He hasn’t found his mate yet and doesn’t have an heir. We need to keep him as safe as possible. I DO NOT want to become the Alpha under any circumstances. I thought he was just in a tough battle and would take a day or so to recover. I never could have imagined what we found had truly happened to him. Why a rogue attack is one question, but the bigger question is: why the weapons? Why would a rogue be armed with silver blades dipped in wolfsbane? It was all too much for his s

  • Changing Her Fate   Pain

~Shiloh~It took a few hours to clean up the area where we fought. The rogue was taken to the cells, and I’m sure that Jakob and Houston will handle the interrogation. I’ve finished my reports and made sure the bodies were properly disposed of. In this situation, we burn the bodies. They don’t deserve a burial because they were trying to harm innocent people. I decide to go visit the Alpha. I got a report from the clinic, and I know that it isn’t good. I know that he’s hanging by a thread, and that hurts my heart. I don’t want the Alpha to die. I say that, but a part of me can’t help but think about how life would be if he were. Tyrice has no heirs and has no mate. If he were to die, the pack would probably go to Houston. I would end up being the Luna, and that’s a wild thought. I don’t want the Alpha to die, I swear, but I can’t help but think about the possibilities. I shake my head and try to push those thoughts away. I shouldn’t be thinking this way, especially when I’m on my w

  • Changing Her Fate   Rogues

~Shiloh~I’ve been watching the bitch, but it’s amounted to a lot of nothing. She doesn’t do anything worth taking note of. She gets up with that brat of hers. Sometimes she drops her off at daycare, and at other times, someone else does. After breakfast, she goes to work for a few hours. Sometimes she works in Houston’s office, and other times, she’s in the kitchen with Lou Lou. I do love the fact that she hasn’t been near Houston since the other day. She’s boring as hell, as that’s saying a lot. Rogues at the east border!I drop the weights I had in my hand and take off. The moment I get outside, I shift, not bothering to peel my clothes off. I give control to Sybil and watch as she bounds through the woods where the threat has been reported. I could smell them before I saw them, that rotten smell that makes you want to throw up. There are four rogues, and they are already engaged in battle. We don’t get rogues often, but it does happen from time to time. I jump into the battle,

  • Changing Her Fate   What Now?

I huff and continue to tap the end of my pencil on the desk. My mind has been all over since I left my office. I don’t know what to do about Shiloh, but I have a feeling that she will force my hand. “You know, we are best friends and all, but if you continue tapping that pencil, I’m going to have to rip your throat out.” The pencil drops from my grip, and I look up. Tyrice has an irritated look on his face. “I’m sorry, man.” I lean back in my chair and run a hand down my face. I came straight here after the earlier incident. I told Tyrice everything that happened, but I’m still extremely bothered. I wish I could let it go, but it’s stuck. “I don’t want to be that guy. Hell, I don’t even want to be that friend, but I mean…”“I told you!” I turn to see Jakob standing in the doorway. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. It isn’t like the three of us keep anything from each other… ever. Jakob walks further into the office, closing the door behind him. “I’m definitely that friend, and I hav
