Chapter 10

Luciana's POV

I was stunned, but not surprised anymore. Klein and I already talked about our plans last night. We are going to pretend that we're together to make Massimo mad. I don't know if this will work on him.

But I was hoping it does because this is part of my revenge against him. I wanted him to realize that I am not just a stinky wolf as he thought about me.

“What did you just say, Klein?”

Massimo wanted to confirm if he's hearing it right. I slightly tilt my head, meeting his sharp gaze. Klein moved closer, stunning me a bit.

“You heard it clearly, Massimo. Luciana is the woman I came here for. I know you're aware that I was looking for a woman whose heart is pure, and it's Luciana. She's what I wanted to have,” Klein replied.

I didn't expect the words that came out from his mouth. My attention diverted to him, eyes asking for his explanation.

“You're out of your mind, Klein. That girl can't be yours!” Massimo exclaimed. 

I gritted my teeth and deep inside, I can't help but be nervous about what he would say next.

“Why not, Massimo? As far as I remember, you rejected her after knowing that she's your mate, right? So, I don't see any reason for you to prevent me from getting her heart,” Klein uttered. 

Massimo's expression hardened, his eyes glistened in anger. His fists are now clenched while his teeth gritted in anger. Alpha Massimo is in fury. He doesn't like what he just heard.

“That can't be, Klein! We came from the royal family, and you can't be with a woman who was cursed by a witch!” Massimo yells. 

I shook my head, my lips curled into a smirk.

“How could you say these things to me if you didn't even know me yet, Alpha Massimo? You don't know who I really am. You don't know what my capabilities are. So, you are not entitled to judge me based on what you hear,” I mumbled in a low voice. 

He grinned, “I don't care about who you are, Luciana. Just f*cking leave my brother and stop poisoning his mind. He won't like you and he will—”

“I do like her, Brother. Luciana didn't poison my mind. You know that I was looking for a woman whom I met in my dream, and it's her. After I learned that you rejected your mate, I came to check who's the unlucky girl and never expected that it's the same woman in my dreams.”

I froze in my direction. Never heard these words from Klein. He didn't tell me that this would be our plan. But I don't care about it anymore. I will leave the flow of our plans in his hands.

“This is totally insane, Klein. You can't have the girl I rejected. She's not the woman you're looking for, so leave. I don't want to see you talking to this girl. She's a curse.” 

Massimo tried to grab me, but Klein stepped in. He blocked his brother from touching me. I felt my mouth widened seeing them facing each other.

I even looked around to see others’ reactions, and then I found my friends. They are still speechless. My head turns in Scarlet's direction, and she's looking at me in vain.

I smirk a little, thinking that I made that bitch angry and insecure.

“If you're going to touch her, you'll see what I will do, Massimo. I can't allow you to touch the woman my heart is beating for. You dumped her already and there's no way you can get her back. Just don't try to get on my way. I am willing to sacrifice our connection as brothers.”

I bit my lower lips in Klein's words. He never gets agitated to say these words towards his brother.

“Are you out of your mind? Just for that woman, you're willing to sacrifice our relationship? Man, this woman is really fooling you. Dad will know about this!” Massimo replied.

However, Klein's lips curled into a smile. He crossed his arms and met his brother's gaze.

“Dad and I already agreed. I didn't ask anything from him but let me have Luciana. He agreed undoubtedly.” Klein responded with confidence.

When these words came out from Klein, Massimo's reaction couldn't be explained. He's looking at me intently as if he wanted to kill me with those sharp eyes.

I never let him see how startled I am, so I confidently met his gaze.

“You're definitely out of your mind, Klein. There are better women in this pack, but you pick the worst girl!”

Massimo's words rang a bell into my ears. I stepped forward, my heart continued pounding so fast. 

“Worst girl?” I mumbled. 

Massimo's attention diverted to me. His cold stare almost pierced my body, but I accepted that with full force.

“Are you sure with your words, Massimo?” I added, while smirking. 

“Yes, you're the worst girl, Luciana. Look at yourself first. You can't even take good care of your smell. You dressed like a nanny and most of all, you proved nothing that will make you excel those girls in this pack. How could a man like me be attracted to you?” Massimo muttered. “Even the warriors won't bother to touch you.”

A loud bang from my right hand made everyone gasp again. Massimo's face moved into another direction as I slapped him across his face. My teeth gritted as I looked at him. 

“How dare you say these words to me!?” I exclaimed. “I swear you will regret everything you've done to me, Alpha Massimo. This woman that you're underestimating will be your biggest nightmare. Say whatever you want to say because time will come, and you'll regret everything.”

A smirk formed on Massimo's lips. He stepped forward, but Klein pulled me closer to him. I was shocked, but that's just quick because I am too focused on Massimo.

“If there's someone who will have regrets at the end of the day, it would be you, Luciana. You will regret messing around with us. You just made the mistake of getting closer to my brother. I will make sure he will see with his eyes that having you is the worst decision he ever made in his life.” 

My jaw tightened as I clenched my teeth. I could feel my blood start boiling in anger, but I chose to remain calm despite what Massimo had said to me.

“Let's not jump into conclusions yet, Alpha Massimo. There's so many things that will happen and I can't wait for that. I can't wait to know what you will be like at the end of the day.”

He smirked, “Let's see, Emerald. And if there's something I am so sure of, it's the mere fact that even if you're the only girl left in this world, I will never accept you to be my mate. I will never love you…”

Okay, that hurts. But I kept that pain deep within my heart. I made sure that my reaction remained the same in front of him.

“Okay, I will remember that.”
