Chapter 16 | Entourage

I slowly awoke and realized I couldn't move my legs. I opened my eyes and blinked in the dim morning light streaming in through the window. Nix had moved to the middle of the bed and cradled me against his chest as he curled up around me at some point during the night. My back was against his chest, and both of his arms were protectively encircling me. He'd drawn his legs up to form another wall, and his face was lightly pressed into the fur on my neck. Even with my small wolf form, I had no chance of wriggling out of his embrace.

But rather than getting out of his arms, I chose to unwind by listening to the soothing sound of his breathing and heartbeat. My senses told me that no one was awake in the rooms inside the pack house yet, except for the sentries and patrols that had been guarding the borders and gates all night.
