Two of them were inside Ryu Yejoon’s house. While Yura was seated on the chair, Yejoon came out with the dishes he prepared.
She stared while he arranged the table. After that, he pulled the chair opposite to her in order to sit down.
“Thank you for the meal,” she politely said before starting to eat.
While she was about to pick up the fork, he questioned, “Did you really mean those words from the other day?”
The slight fear in his tone was noticed by her, and that was how she even felt when making this decision. The feelings he had towards her was something she could relate to well enough.
“Yeah,” she said, “I know that this is difficult on both of us, but this needs to be done.”
“Why?” he asked— desperation present in his tone. “I believed you when you said that you don’t want anything to do with the past, but you visited Youngjae and even Jisoo.
So, why is it a problem when it comes to me? You know very well how I wouldn’t be able to continue without you.”
“I am the same as you as well, Yejoon. You know, because of you I was able to stand up and do everything. But don’t you think that we are too reliant on each other?
I am not saying that we should break off our relationship completely and lose contact. I wouldn’t have the courage to do so, but we should give this a break.
This wouldn’t be healthy for either of us in the long term,” she stated, “It’s not that trusting solely each other is bad, but I am sure we are going down the path that we can’t live without each other.”
Extending his hand towards her, he placed his palm on her hand and expressed, “I don’t care about that. You are the only one I have left. There is no way I am losing you.”
She chuckled and stated, “Who said that you are losing me? I am not leaving you. What I am trying to imply is that let’s try to stay away from each other from a while.
It will help to clear our mind, and you really need that. It is painful to watch you be like this, Yejoon. If I am with you, you will just be reminded of everything more.
I am planning on going on a vacation. Why don’t you do the same as well? That way you can think about what you want perfectly, and even I will do the same. Why don’t we just discuss after that?”
Yura tried to be as patient as possible when it came to her words. Once probably she was at a much worse state than him, but right now, it was him who was being most miserable.
She noticed how he stared at the table silently and let out a sigh. Then, a determined expression was visible in his eyes while he raised his head.
He then said, “What if I still need you after the break? Are you willing to take responsibility and marry me?”
His words caught her by surprise, and choking on the meat, she started to cough. She hadn’t expected him to say something like that.
Her widened eyes gave all of her emotions away, and she asked, “What do you mean?”
“If you were able to accept that Youngjae, you wouldn’t have any problem with me after that break, right?” he questioned.
“Hold on. That’s not the matter here. Both of us don’t even love each other. Did you even see me in any way other than platonic? Were you even attracted to me?”
“Is that needed?” he retorted, “Isn’t it enough as long as both of us are comfortable and happy around each other? Romantic love doesn’t ensure happiness; you know that as much as me.”
“Actually, I was planning to go on a search for another love,” she stated, “I don’t want to live my life with regrets, and that’s why, you should do the same as well.
We can be friends forever without having to get married. Friendship doesn’t break as easily as a romantic relationship, you know. Isn’t it better?”
“If you get a boyfriend, I wouldn’t be your priority any longer. Isn’t that worse?” he pointed out.
“Yejoon, you should really make some new friends,” she stated, “This is absolutely crazy. I don’t want you to not be able to anything without me.”
Staring at her with a blank face, he expressed, “That’s easier said than done. Who would even want to be friends with me?”
“Right,” she replied.
The authority Yejoon held was quite high, and he was one of the respected figures in the business field. Most importantly, he had a personality that was really difficult to deal with.
To put it simply, there was no one who would want to deal with him.
“Why don’t you go on blind dates then? You will be able to find someone. Even if you don’t get someone you could fall for, there will be probably someone you are comfortable with.”
However, it appeared that he wasn’t paying any concentration to her words for he stated, “Yura, come back quickly. I have decided to fall in you with you, and you will be in love with me as well. I assure you that.”
Raising her wine glass, she said, “I hope that you are able to move on from everything and open up your heart again. I would really like to see you smile brightly one day.”
“You make me smile,” he confessed.
“You know I am really glad that you are not my sibling. You are seriously way too clingy. Don’t worry! If things doesn’t work for you after this break, I will take the responsibility and get decent company for you.”
A pout started to form on his face, she could see that he was quite displeased with her words. But there was nothing else she could do.
Due to the amount of alcohol she had taken, Yura could feel herself becoming slightly drowsy. Nonetheless, she did not lose her senses completely yet. Her hand held on to a wine glass as she was seated beside Ryu Yejoon on the couch. Throughout the entire time, he stared at her in desperation. She knew how he wanted her to change her mind, and a part of her was really tempted. As he had suggested earlier, things would be simpler and happier if both of them got married. She wouldn’t need to worry about getting hurt, and both of them were enough for each other. There was no need for some other people beside themselves. But the bubble that they had built around them— Yura believed that both of them needed to escape that. If it wasn’t for her, she was worried about Yejoon. If things went wrong and something happened to her, she wanted him to live on happily and not lose himself completely. The thought of that broke her heart. She knew that she had made a lot of enemies from the next
Watching Youngjae pass through the empty corridor caused her to stand in front of him and block his way. These days, there were barely opportunities for them to meet alone, and he avoided any sort of contact with her. Finally Yura was able to spot him and stop him in his steps. Seeing how the hallway was completely empty caused relief to spread through her. She did not want anyone to interfere right now. His hands were tucked into his pocket while he raised his head to look at her. There were no emotions present in his eyes, and over this period of two weeks, it had become a norm for him to stare with those eyes at her. She couldn’t put into words how much ache that brought to her. “Youngjae, why are you doing? What’s happening between the both of us? Is it really over? Did you truly throw all of it away?” she questioned— desperation present in her tone. Despite of Jisoo’s words the other day, she had a hard time accepting the truth. One part of her argued badly that this had to
“You have been already watching him for years,” he said, “you know, I am starting to think that you have some sort of feeling towards him.” He extended his hand towards her and hugged her from the back. His words caused her eyes to widen for a while before she let out a chuckle. Then, she teased, “What is that? Is that jealousy in your voiced?” “Hmm,” he responded, “I get really scary when I am jealous. That’s why, don’t look at him anymore.” In that moment, she merely took his words as a joke, and while a smirk formed on her face, she turned to face him. Then, moving her hand forward, she pinched on to his cheeks and expressed, “Yes, yes, yes. I understand. Can you even be scary at the first place?” Laughs left her mouth after that. Taking that as opportunity, he moved his head closer to her and pecked on her lips softly. Taken aback by his actions, she pecked him on his cheek once he stood up straight. “On a serious note, you have nothing to be jealous about. You are the only
With a cheerful mood, Yura started to pack the luggage. Finally, she had settled on a destination for the trip and was quite excited about it. After all, this was her first time experiencing something like this. “Are you really fine with leaving that puppy at here?” Mirae questioned. Placing her clothes inside the luggage, she raised one of her eyebrows while she turned back to Mirae, questioning what she was trying to imply. “Don’t try to act oblivious. You know who I am talking about. I am afraid that man will get a panic attack. Did you see the amount of times he called and texted you? He even started to bother me right now. What have you done to the Ryu Yejoon?” Taking in a deep breath, Yura ran her hand through her hair and voiced out, “Don’t worry! I have gotten it all under my control. He might act like that in the beginning, but after a period of time, he will be fine. Isn’t it an improvement that he is not coming to meet me?” “That’s because you made him promise him tha
Maybe she was being paranoid, but she had a feeling that someone was following after her. Min Yura did not turn back to check. Ever since she had exited the convenience store, she could feel someone after her, and after all that happened, she naturally found herself being cautious of her surroundings. There were high chances that she was merely overreacting. Upon reaching the apartment complex, she finally turned back and did not spot anyone behind her. Shaking her head, she entered into the building. Even if something was going on, she wasn’t planning to confide into someone. Knowing Yejoon’s nature, he would probably never let go of her once he got to know of this. Someone was most likely hired to keep on a eye on her. If that person held murderous intent, there was nothing she would be able to do against it. She might be able to get help from Yejoon, and this will be solved if he got involved. But right now, she wasn’t planning to get him into anything until she stabilized him
The last thing he could clearly recall was someone familiar shouting his name, and after that, his mind had gone completely blank. The face that he could remember brightly smiling was growing pale by each passing second while she laid on her arms. When he failed to notice that incoming car, he did not expect that she would come out of nowhere to push him out of the way only to end up this way due to her hasty decision. Blood dripped down from her forehead while he tightly hugged her figure. He wasn’t able to think straight at that moment. The only thought running in his mind was that he wouldn’t let go of this warmth. All of his senses went dull, and the people that gathered around both of them did not catch his attention. Although everyone was creating a ruckus around him, the sounds did not reach him. His body shook while he could feel the warmth leaving her body each second. He did not know what to do. He was willing to do anything to have her open her eyes. While he held her
“I think he feels way too guilty to enter,” she said, “Do you want to call him in?” Knowing his personality, Yura knew that he was blaming himself and voiced out, “Hmm.” She was aware now he wouldn’t be at peace until he saw her and had no intentions of making him suffer. “You know, wouldn’t it be better if you ignore him right now? Finally, there is a good enough reason for you two to separate. Looking at it right now, it doesn’t seem that he will approach you on his own.” Yura understood what Mirae was trying to mean. Probably she would be able to put distance between both of them if she utilized this time. Although that was really cruel, this could be her only chance to do this, and a part of her was trying to consider this. “How is his current state?” Yura asked. “It has been looking better,” Mirae answered, “It was way worse when you were unconscious. He would have probably lost his mind if something had happened to you.” Yura let out a sigh and stated, “I will consider wh
“Strange,” Mirae expressed while she stepped into the room. “He is not waiting for you today.” Hearing that caught Yura’s attention, and raising one of her eyebrows, she voiced out, “Is that so?” Mirae nodded her head and made her way over to Yura. Sitting beside her, she stated, “Aren’t you worried over it?” “Not exactly,” she replied, “he had been here for a long time and might have piled up a lot of work. It makes sense for him to be busy with work.” She would be lying if she mentioned that this did not make her anxious. Nonetheless, she preferred to think as positively as she could. Since things were all fine currently, she did not thing that he would be doing anything wrong. “The doctor mentioned about how you can be discharged within two to three days,” Mirae voiced out, “I was really looking forward to this trip. Too bad, it was cancelled. I don’t think I will be able to take another break from work.” “It’s fine,” she answered, “I can just go on one on my own.” Mirae sh
