Passerby POV — Elijah

It was supposed to be a quiet night. My shift at work had ended late, again, and I was walking home the same way I always did, cutting through the narrow streets behind the grocery store, then crossing onto the long stretch of road that led up toward my apartment.

I had my earbuds in, the volume not too loud but loud enough to drown out my thoughts. Hood up, hands deep in my pockets, head down. Nothing new.

The streets were mostly empty. A couple of streetlamps flickered like they were tired of doing their job. A stray cat ran across the road, stopped to glare at me, then disappeared between two trash bins. Everything smelled like a quiet night should. cool air, faint oil from the roads.

I don’t know what I expected from the night, but it wasn’t that.

I heard a loud noise.

Screeching tires.

Rubber burning against pavement.

The sickening sound of metal folding into metal, I felt it in my bones rather than just heard it.

Even with my earbuds in, I heard it clearly.

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    One Last Card

Xenia’s POV I yanked the door open and slammed it shut behind me, harder than I meant to, hard enough that the whole damn car shook with the impact and Lilith flinched beside me like I’d actually hit her instead of the door.“What the bloody hell?” she muttered, staring at me like I’d grown a second head.“She didn’t help us,” I said flatly. My voice sounded hollow even to me.Lilith let out a shaky breath and rubbed both her temples. She was clearly exhausted, physically, mentally, emotionally and everything-overloaded. “I really don’t know what to do anymore,” she mumbled. “I really thought she was going to help us, you said she was going to help us.”“Hey, calm it down, okay?” I snapped without thinking. “I thought she would too. It’s not like I planned for her to start spewing cryptic nonsense.”Lilith shook her head. “We walked miles through that creepy-ass forest just for her to tell us we’re doomed? What the actual hell was that?”“Shit,” I muttered, gripping the steering whee

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    Desperation

Lilith’s POVXenia’s grip on my wrist was so tight it almost numbed my hand. I barely had time to process anything before she yanked me down the hallway like someone running from a fire. My feet skidded against the tiles as I stumbled after her.“Xenia, what are you doing?” I managed to say, breath catching.“Just shut up and get in,” she snapped, practically throwing me toward her car.She flung open the passenger door of her sleek black BMW and glared at me like I was wasting precious seconds of her life.“We’re going to the witch,” she said flatly. “Now.”I stared at her, stunned. “We said we’d go in two days.”She spun around so fast her hair whipped over her shoulder. The look she gave me showed frustration.“Two days?” she barked. “You actually think you have two days left?”I blinked, confused. “What are you—”“Lilith.” She stepped closer, eyes blazing. “I saw your hair.”I touched my still-damp strands instinctively.“I saw your uniform,” she hissed. “The stain and the smell,

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    Worst Day

Lilith’s POV I should have stayed home today. That was the first thought that hit me the moment I stepped onto campus and felt eyes latch onto me. They weren’t even pretending, it was so obvious. It felt like every pair of eyes was a spotlight I didn’t ask for, and each one burned in its own way.Oh moon goddess… they were back.I tugged my sleeves down, tightened my grip on my bag, and kept my face pointed toward the ground, pretending I wasn't moved.Even though a part of me wanted to see him, Griffin, but the humiliation that follows, especially If he was around Lena, it would only make it worse and that kind of pain I wasn’t sure I’d recover from today.I forced myself to keep walking, head low.Somewhere behind me, someone whispered, “Is she seriously coming back here like nothing happened?”Another voice answered, “Maybe she thinks the magic worked and Griffin’s still obsessed with her.”Someone laughed. My fingers tightened around my bag strap.I knew ignoring them was the rig

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    Crossfire

Donald’s POVI spotted Xenia limping across the walkway just outside the faculty building, her steps stiff, and rushed like she was trying to pretend nothing was wrong. Her brows were scrunched up in that way they always were when she was irritated, tight, like every second was testing her patience.“Xenia?” I called out, quickening my pace. She didn’t hear me at first. Or maybe she did, and she was just too wrapped up in whatever anger was boiling inside her. I ended up jogging the last few steps to catch up.“What the hell happened to you?” I asked, reaching her side. She startled slightly but still didn’t answer. Instead, she winced and waved her hand in that dismissive way she always did when she didn’t want to acknowledge weakness. Before she could brush me off again, I slipped a hand under her arm, steady and gentle, and guided her toward the nearby bench.“Sit,” I said quietly. She didn’t argue, that alone told me something was wrong. As she sat down, I crouched in front of her

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    The Art of Not Caring

Lena’s POVProfessor Mako was on one of his usual tangents again, this time using scenes from adult romance e-books to “teach emotional expression in speech.”Honestly, sometimes I wondered if he even remembered we were a university class and not actors auditioning for some dramatic, unnecessarily steamy theater play.“And then,” he read dramatically, raising a brow as if the next line held the key to life itself, “he pressed her against the wall, his voice low, ‘Do you want me to stop?’”Half the class froze, the other half tried not to choke on laughter and a few openly stared at their desks like they were contemplating dropping out.He was a character, this man. The way he read steamy scenes with that overly serious tone, like he was breaking down a Shakespearean tragedy instead of describing someone getting pinned against a wall, honestly, it was impossible to stay composed. The lecture room was definitely vibrating with secondhand embarrassment.I bit the inside of my cheek, tryi

  • Chasing My Hockey Alpha    My Woman

Griffin’s POV The campus was chaotic, as usual on the first day back. You could practically smell the tension in the air, like smoke before a fire, and honestly, I didn’t even care.I stepped out and walked around to open Lena’s door. The crowd had already begun to form, phones up, cameras flashing, murmurs rippling through groups of students, the usual theater of the entitled and curious. I ignored it all. The door opened, and there she was, my mate, the woman who made the world slow down and speed up at the same time, my Lena. Beautiful, composed, and calm, even when everyone else was losing their minds, she wasn't amused by the crowd or even flinch. I leaned in and kissed her. Let them look, Let them burn. They could say whatever they wanted, let them think this was some staged drama, a game to keep them wondering.Cameras clicking, students calling out. “There comes the Alpha!” someone screamed, and I didn’t flinch. I didn’t need to. “God, they look like a match made in the moo
