FAZER LOGINThe night had started perfectly. Selene had glowed red as her son, Liam, stood proud before the fire during his first shift ritual while the pack gathered in a wide circle around him. But deep down, a knot of nerves twisted tighter every time she caught sight of Kyle.
And worse, Kyle hadn’t spared her a single damn glance. So she decided to change that! If he wouldn’t come to her, she’d make him. She waited till it was the after-party, drinking as she greeted the other pack members. Then, she turned towards Kyle’s direction, drink in hand and a plan forged. Just as she got near him, she’d faked a wobble in her step, letting out a faint sigh. “I feel sick,” she’d murmured with just enough softness that the Alpha had caught her arm. His grip had been firm, almost too warm against her skin. He hadn’t looked at her like a lover. More like… an obligation. It stung. But she’d never been so happy. Finally, she had his attention! “ Thank you, I think I need a rest” Selene had pointed towards the stairs and Kyle had only nodded and led her upstairs, his hand briefly on her back. Selene didn’t try to start small talks about how they were old acquaintances. She very well knew Kyle was aware, and it hurt that he acted as though he didn’t. But Kyley didn’t mind, it would be easier when they were alone later. Liam had followed. Her sweet, overly protective son. Selene had gritted her teeth, shooing him with a faint smile. “I’ll be fine, baby. Just stay downstairs. Go have fun.” To keep her act believable, she’d asked Kyle for a glass of water, knowing it would send him back to her room. ‘ Back to this very bed.’ Selene almost chuckled as she patted the soft mattress gently; she was amused at her own cunning nature. Selene shifted again, tugging the robe open so it hung loosely off her shoulders. The cool air brushed her skin, raising goose bumps. Her body felt warm and alive, every nerve bracing for the moment the door would open and she’d see him again. Once again, she imagined the click of the handle, the way his eyes would darken when he saw her waiting, flushed and ready. He’d drop the glass, maybe curse under his breath. He wouldn’t even care that her son’s ceremony had just ended. He’d only see her, the way he used to when they were young. Her fingers brushed over her stomach, over the faint scar she always hated. She was older now. Wiser. Harder. But if there was one thing she knew about men like Kyle, it was that they didn’t forget. They didn’t forgive easily… but they didn’t forget, either. Tonight, she would make him remember. The knock jolted her upright. Her heart jumped into her throat. She sat up, adjusting the robe so it hung just right — open enough to tease, closed enough to look effortless. “Come in,” she said, her voice low, almost husky. The door swung open. And everything inside her went still as Kyle stepped in. However, Selene’s excitement turned into a deep frown. He wasn’t alone. Beside the handsome alpha stood a tall, raven-haired woman who followed him in, leaning on his arm like she belonged there. The glass of water Selene had requested sat in Kyle’s hand, but his eyes weren’t on Selene's alluring body. They were cold, sharp, cutting straight through her pretense, causing her to quiver and shift her gaze away. Only to meet the woman’s mocking glance. As she looked Selene up and down, she mused at her undone robe and the lingeries scattered on the floor, smirking like she already knew the game. Selene’s stomach dropped. ' What the hell is this bitch doing here?' “Your water,” Kyle said flatly, moving to settle the glass down on the nightstand without looking at her too long. His voice was deep, rough, and completely void of warmth. “Don’t choke on it.” He further teased. The other woman let out a quiet, mocking laugh at this, further contributing to Kyle’s instigation. Selene’s nails dug into the sheets, heat flooding her face. Embarrassment burned hotter than any lust. “Who is she?” Selene asked, her voice sharper than she intended. “None of your concern,” Kyle replied, glancing at her for half a second before turning to leave. The door shut behind them, leaving Selene frozen on the bed, half-naked, most humiliated. For a moment, all she could hear was the thundering of her own heartbeat. Her plan had just gone up in flames, and it stung. No, it burned! Selene’s lips parted still in disbelief and shock. Her humiliation mixed into something sharp, a piercing stab in her heart. Left confused, disappointed, and embarrassed, she spiraled in her thoughts, wondering if Kyle really just doesn't want anything to do with her. ' He has a woman?' The face of the lady stu k to her mind, remaining a plaguing memory that haunted her throughout the rest of her night. Selena plunged in bed, feeling sick from her very guts. It wasn't the drink, it was Kyle! ' How could he?' Selene blamed in her reeling thoughts, regardless of the fact that she'd rejected him in the past. She turned and twisted in bed, feeling torn and dejected. ' I did all of this for him and he just wants to ignore me, pretend I mean nothing' Selene was on the verge of tears. She still didn't believe Kyle bore no feelings for her anymore. She refuse to believe it! ' Fine!' she harrumphed, frustrated and unwilling to chase him any further. Selene was done with Kyle! She grabbed her pillow and hugged it tight, anger embedded on her face as she reeled in her mind over and over again. Her wetness left her even more frustrated than the fact that she was let down and embarrassed by Kyle. Even now, she won't stop being horny and wanting of him. She hated it! " Ah!" Selene threw the pillow in her grasp at the wall, subsumed in anger. The drive to school was considerably quieter than usual. At least on Liam's side.Kyle noticed it almost immediately. The boy sat in the passenger seat staring out the window, occasionally shifting in his seat and then pretending he hadn't. Every few minutes, he'd let out a sigh for absolutely no reason before falling silent again.Kyle smirked.Liam was trying very hard to act normal. Unfortunately, Kyle had been a teenage boy once. He knew exactly what this looked like."Nervous?"Liam nearly jumped, "What?"Kyle kept his eyes on the road,"You're nervous.""I'm not nervous.""Sure.""I'm not!"Kyle studied him briefly, then nodded solemnly."Of course, you're not. You're just silent for no reason."Silence.Liam didn't respond like he always would. "You kissed a girl, Liam. You didn't start a war." Kyle said in the end.The boy slumped lower into his seat, sighing in defeat,"I know. But it just feels weird to face her after all that."
Morning sunlight spilled through the curtains in long golden streaks, painting Selene's bedroom in warm hues. For the first time in what felt like forever, she woke without anxiety squeezing her chest. The events of the past weeks felt distant now. Not gone, but quieter.Beside her, Kyle was still asleep.Selene turned slightly, studying his face. Even relaxed, there was something strong about him. The stubborn set of his jaw. The faint scar near his eyebrow. The way he seemed larger than the bed itself.A smile tugged at her lips.Carefully, she leaned over and pressed a soft kiss against his forehead.Kyle's eyelids fluttered, "This," he muttered sleepily, "is always a nice thing to wake up to."Selene laughed.Kyle opened one eye, "Morning, sweetie." he greeted.Selene rolled her eyes, but the smile remained, "Morning".Kyle stretched experimentally,"Hah! Now that was a night." Selene smiled, remembering the wildness of the night, "I know, right?
Hidden behind the bushes near the lakeside, Selene and Kyle watched the entire exchange between Liam and Ivy unfold beneath the silver glow of the moon. The sight before them was simply too surreal.Liam and Ivy stood by the water's edge, their reflections stretching across the moonlit lake as they stumbled through confessions neither of them seemed fully prepared to make.Kyle wore an increasingly amused smile throughout the whole thing.Every now and then he would glance toward Selene.Selene, meanwhile, looked as though she wished the earth would open and swallow her whole. The second-hand embarrassment was almost unbearable. Especially because it involved her son. Nevertheless, she was no less proud. When Ivy finally declared that they should leave before their parents started looking for them and the pair disappeared back toward the festival grounds, silence settled over once more. For several seconds neither Kyle nor Selene spoke.A second later, Kyle
The walk to the lake was quieter than the festival. The further Kyle and Selene moved away from the crowds, the softer the sounds of celebration became. Music faded into the distance. Laughter became faint. Even the occasional howl from pack members celebrating beneath the moon seemed muted by the surrounding trees.Soon, only the gentle rustling of leaves and the chirping of insects accompanied them. The lake lay beyond a small grove, its waters calm and still beneath the night sky. Moonlight spilled across its surface like liquid silver, transforming the dark water into a shimmering mirror. Above, the full silvery moon hung impossibly large, casting an ethereal glow over everything it touched.Selene stopped. For a moment, she simply stared."It really is beautiful." she said shortly after.Kyle looked at her rather than the lake, "I know."Selene noticed and just rolled her eyes immediately, "You know that's not what I meant."Kyle chuckled. She had missed
By sunset, the entire park had transformed into something straight out of a dream.Colorful ribbons fluttered from wooden posts, lanterns hung from tree branches, and long strings of decorative lights stretched across pathways despite the sun still being high in the sky. Music drifted through the air from various corners of the festival grounds while the smell of grilled meat, pastries, roasted nuts, and sweet syrup-coated treats mingled together in an irresistible blend. Everywhere Selene looked, people were smiling.Children raced through the crowd with painted faces. Teenagers clustered together around game stalls. Families occupied picnic blankets beneath the trees. Couples wandered hand in hand, already treating the festival as if the moon itself had arrived hours ahead of schedule.Standing in the middle of it all, Selene found herself momentarily lost. The last time she had attended a Full blue Moon-watching Festival, life had been so different. She had been younge
By the time Liam got home, the sun had already begun its slow descent toward the horizon, bathing the town in warm golden light. The streets outside glowed softly beneath the evening sky, and there was a strange excitement in the air that hadn't been there earlier in the week. He barely had time to step through the front door before he heard movement upstairs. "Mom?" "I'm up here!" Selene's voice floated down from the second floor. Liam dropped his backpack near the entrance and headed up. When he reached the hallway, he found his mother standing in front of her bedroom mirror. She was getting dressed. Not in her usual work clothes nor in her stay-at-home clothes either. She actually looked like she was preparing to go somewhere. The realization made Liam pause. Selene had changed into a simple but beautiful outfit that suited her perfectly. A tight dark dress that reached her knees and a coat. Nothing too ex
No matter how much one tries to ignore it, somehow, doubt always had a way of settling into hearts.Selene, still leaning by the kitchen counter, couldn't shake the doubt in her heart despite the fact that it's been a long while since Clara went upstairs. Despite having told herself that it didn
Selene stood in front of the mirror longer than she should have, tilting her head this way and that, brushing down the silk dress Clara had insisted she wear. It was a deep red dress, low enough at the neckline to make her second-guess herself, but not scandalous. Her reflection didn’t loo
The door had barely clicked shut behind Aiden when Clara’s voice came shrieking from upstairs like a siren of chaos."Did I just hear him ask you out on a date?!"Selene groaned, dragging her hand down her face. She turned slowly to find Clara already at the top of the stairs, leaning dramat
“So,” Liam said, clearly eager to change the subject, “I made some new friends today. A girl named Ivy and this nerdy guy, Aaron. We’re gonna go to school together from now on.” Iam didn't like that at his big age, his mom still has to bring him to school.Selene raised a brow, a teasing smile form
