I gazed at the signed divorce papers on the table.

I gazed in the window direction through brimming eyes. Kalus Mike stood there under the glare of the sun of the afternoon, as faultless and stiff as a marble carving and giving out an overpowering aura.

I've signed them. You'll need to sign them at your earliest convenience so that we can finalize the divorce before Lydia gets home.

Kalus rested his hands at his back and said, without glancing at me, "Since we had a prenuptial agreement, there won't be a problem with property division. But as compensation, I will give you an additional $20 million and the villa in the western suburbs. Otherwise, I won't be able to justify it to Grandpa if you get away with not a single cent."

I was shocked. "Does your Grandpa know you want a divorce from me?"

"Grandpa's wishes won't be a factor for me."

My skeletal frame shuddered, so I clung to the edge of the table to stabilize myself. My tears streamed down my face as I begged, "Kalus, can't we stay married?"

Finally, Kalus wheeled around and looked at me hesitantly.

He pressed his slender lips together and scrunched up his dark eyes. His handsome face still caused my heart to skip a beat.

"Why?"

"Because I love you."

My tearful, puffy eyes stared at him. "Kalus, I love you. I still want to be your wife even if you do not love me…"

"I've had enough of this, Amara. A marriage without love is hell for me."

Kalus shooed me away. He did not even bother to listen to me. "Our marriage was a mistake in the first place. You knew that I was only having trouble with Grandpa then. You also knew that I had a crush on Lydia. I just could not be with her then for some reasons.". She will be back from Meridan soon, and I am going to marry her, so you need to leave now that our three-year contract term has ended."

I lowered my head. Large teardrops fell on the table, but I quickly wiped them away.

Kalus saw it, but he did not say anything.

It was just then that his phone rang. He quickly took the call when he saw the name of the caller on the phone screen.

"Lydia, did you get on the flight already?"

He used such a gentle voice that I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same man who was so distant from me a moment ago.

Lydia Osita responded with a bright voice over the phone, "Kalus, I'm already at the Savrow Airport."

"What? You weren't supposed to come in tonight!"

"I wanted to surprise you!"

"Wait for me, Lydia. I'll go pick you up now!"

Then Kalus stormed out.

I was left feeling dejected and abandoned after the door closed.

I had sacrificed so much for the Mikes and had dedicated myself to Kalus during our marriage.

He only thought of his three years of marriage and ten years of pining in the end.

Kalus acted as if he had been released from serving a three-year prison sentence and quickly abandoned me at the first opportunity. This was to wed his childhood sweetheart, Lydia Osita, whom he had been pining for.

I was heartbroken and disillusioned to learn that I could not do anything to win Kalus's heart.

I took a deep breath, grinned wryly, and shook my head. My outraged tears smeared Kalus's stunning signature on the divorce documents.

In the night, Kalus brought Lydia back to Tideview Manor.

Kalus, second son of rich Mike family, carried a demure woman in wedding attire as he walked into the manor, catching everyone's eye.

"Kalus, we are not yet divorced, so let us not be this intimate. Amara will loathe me otherwise if she knows we did something." Lydia touched Kalus's chest while softly whispering to him.

"She won't."

The eyes of Kalus hardened as he replied, "What if she happens to see us? I don't love her. She's nothing more than a name-marriage wife of mine, so she must keep her place."

The Mikes fenced Lydia in and welcomed her while I set the table in the dining room.

Kalus noticed his wife's solitary figure and smiled, musing, 'How was Amara such a submissive servant to my family? Did she think that it would undo my decision for the divorce? How silly!'

"Master Kalus!" Then, after some time, the butler rushed to Kalus. "Young Madam just departed!"

"She departed? When?"

"Just now! She didn't take anything with her. She just took off her apron and left through the back door. There was a black car waiting for her."

Kalus hurried back to the bedroom, which was clean and tidy. He saw the signed and tear-stained divorce agreement on the bedside table.

He scowled and strode towards the window, just in time to catch sight of a black Rolls-Royce disappearing down the drive from Tideview Manor. In a moment, its tail lights vanished into the darkness.

Kalus mused to himself, 'Wasn't she in no hurry to leave this afternoon? It seems like she can't get out of here fast enough now!'

He thought that I had tricked him like a fool, so he grabbed his phone and called his secretary in anger.

"Get to know whose car this is. License plate number SA9999."

"Yes, Sir."

Five minutes passed, and Kalus's secretary called him once again. "Mr. Mike, I found out that the car with that license plate number belongs to the CEO of Zz Group."

The CEO of Zz Group was the Denz family's eldest son, Frank.

I was from a small town. I was poor and had no connections. Over the last three years, Kalus had observed that I didn't even have friends since all I used to do was stay at home. How did I get to know Frank Denz?

Kalus thought that I had already acquired myself a rebound guy.

"Mr. Mike, did you talk about the divorce with the young madam today?" His secretary inquired hesitantly.

"Of course! Why would I delay it?" Kalus grew annoyed.

"Oh… But today is the young madam's birthday."

Kalus was taken aback upon hearing this.

Frank, the eldest son of the famous Denz family, held my hand gently in the back seat of the black Rolls-Royce.

"Your second brother arranged a fireworks show for you tonight to celebrate your homecoming."

"I simply do not have the mood to watch fireworks."

I went back to being Dera Denz, the heiress of the Denz clan. I cried on my eldest brother's shoulder uncontrollably.

I glanced at my old phone and read the last message I had received, which was from Lydia.

[You've stolen Kalus from me. I told you I'd get you to let him go sooner or later. Kalus is mine, so back off!]

I laughed with tears and closed eyes and had an epiphany.

"What's wrong? Do you still miss him after everything he has done to you?" Frank hugged his sister in distress.

"Ash, it's my birthday today…

"I know. Kalus is an ass to divorce you on a day like today."

"That's why there's no remorse on my part. Kalus just murdered Amara Kol."

I awoke with my eyes once again and I was no longer Amara Kol, wife of Kalus Mike. Instead, I had become the proud heiress Dera Denz of Zz Group again. And this time, I was not hung on that man.

Dera said, "I'm over him. I'll be damned if I ever go back to him.".

Kalus went to the country's best military academy and served in the army for three years. Even though he left the army and became a businessman, he was still remarkably healthy. Thus, Dean's punch just bruised Kalus's lip edges but his body did not budge at all."Fuck! My love rival!" Ryan swore softly but was not courageous enough to say so aloud. That was due to the fact that he remembered Amara's warning to him in advance. He was the third party in her love life, and thus, he had no right to be so proud.Dean was furious and punched Kalus once more, but Kalus avoided him instantly."Kalus Mike! I told you to stay away from Amara! You shameless bastard!"Dean was breathless, and his eyes were bloodshot. "If anything happens to Amara, I'll skin you alive! You won't be able to escape me and your corporation!" He planted himself face-to-face with Kalus, who was taking a step closer."You're overreacting, Mr. Denz. It's merely a dislocation…" Ryan was afraid that Kalus and Frank would f

Ryan clicked his tongue and ran after me. "Ms. Kol is right! It's wrong for you to touch her because you're divorced! Ms. Kol, let me carry you!""Scram!"Kalus and I said it at the same time. Kalus's face turned red, but I blushed.Ryan thought, 'Huh? Now they look like a couple.'At the hospital, I was pushed into the emergency room, and Kalus and Ryan waited outside the room."Kalus, you're heartless. Why did you have to catch her frail arm so roughly? Did you want to dislocate it?" Ryan sighed and shook his head in disappointment at Kalus."How do you know she works there?" Kalus looked at him coldly. His eyes had a hint of anger in them.I lunched there and saw her doing drudge work at the back door. She was working so hard it's hard to believe she was ever your wife."Ryan smiled and said with a hint of admiration, "She is not conceited or headstrong, and she knows which battles to fight. She really is the most remarkable woman I have ever known.Kalus clenched his fists and sai

"Fuck! Kalus, are you nuts?!"Ryan was amazed. My face turned pale. My already svelte arms hung loosely at my sides, and my smooth forehead glistened with cold perspiration.Ryan was distressed to find me in such a condition, but Kalus was brutal.Kalus tightened his fist and reeled backward in shock, his mouth agape."Ms. Kol, your arm is dislocated! I'll bring you to the hospital right away!"Ryan was on edge and insisted on coming over to help me, but I icily brushed him off. "No need… I can manage alone.""How are you going to get on with it? Your arm is out of place!""That's not your business!"I was angry. I glared at them with all my strength, not wanting them to touch me.Ryan was astonished. He could not take the liberty of acting in the heat of the moment.Kalus gazed at the former wife, who was trembling in anger, and understood that he never knew her before.Kalus had only witnessed her smile and act gently in the past three years. She was always trying to please him. Kal

"Don't wait for me."I rejected Ryan with a shallow smile. "I won't have dinner with you."Ryan tutted and grumbled, "Why are you so cruel? Can't you even have a meal with me as a gesture of gratitude for helping you teach Zeke a lesson last time at ACE?"I sarcastically laughed. "I remember it was Kalus who saved me. You're a terrible friend for stealing his credit behind his back.""Ms. Kol, have I done anything to offend you? Why won't you give me a chance?"Ryan looked at me ardently. "Just because you're going out with Frank? Will Frank dare to publicly acknowledge you as his girlfriend? I will!""Mr. Hoffman, love is not first come, first served, but I have morals and principles."Ryan felt ashamed. His face turned pale immediately."I know I don't come from a rich family, but I have my principles. When I got married to Kalus, he was the only man I loved. Now that Frank, the CEO of Zz Group, is my boyfriend, my heart belongs to him alone. I like making my own choices, so I hate

The second Kalus had finished speaking, there was a scream coming from the restaurant.Ryan suddenly remembered he had left his date by herself with Amara. That was trouble in the making."Bro, I can't speak right now. Anyway, I won't make it today. I'll catch you tomorrow!"Ryan was about to hang up when Kalus's loud voice stopped him."Ryan Hoffman, where are you?"This time, Ryan heard another shriek louder than the rest."Zz World Hotel's restaurant!"Ryan ran back to the restaurant again. When he forced the door open, he was appalled at what he saw inside.Kalus's delicate ex-wife pinched his date's hair and stuck her head on the table with her arm being twisted towards the back. His date was immobile.Ryan thought, "Whoa! This is like a criminal scene where the cool detective lady catches the bad guy!"He was first worried that I would be bullied, but now it seemed like his worry was unnecessary. So, he simply crossed his arms and watched the show with a smile on his face."I'm

Ryan's warm eyes narrowed as he raised his eyebrows. "Let's go out to dinner. I'll pick you up from work this evening. I'll make reservations wherever you'd like to eat."I frowned and said indignantly, "I have a boyfriend, Mr. Hoffman.""I don't even care that you've had an ex-husband, let alone a boyfriend."Ryan was never one to mince words when it came to relationships. He never considered what society wanted and only focused on his own feelings for the woman."If you're concerned we'll be seen, we can have dinner at my private villa. My chef is Michelin-star quality. I'll get them to make dinner."I looked up and thought, 'Why isn't my coffee ready yet?'If I were drinking my coffee, I would toss it in Ryan's face to snap him out of his daydream! At this point, Ryan's phone rang.He took it out and saw it was Kalus."Excuse me, I'm going to take a call."I thought, 'Get out, for all I care!'Once Ryan left, my coffee came. Before I could drink it, Ryan's date came over to me haug

Ryan brought his date to the hotel restaurant. The minute food arrived, his date started photographing the good-looking food.Ryan was irked when he saw his date clicking photos of food and said, "Why are you photographing food? Have you never eaten before?"His date hid her phone in annoyance and stopped eating. As they were nearly through with eating, the restaurant manager came up and asked with a warm smile, "Mr. Hoffman, how's your food?""It's good. The steak is cooked well. I'm extremely satisfied."Ryan's life outside of work was in shambles, but he was properly dressed."What? I think it's difficult. It tastes terrible." Ryan's date carelessly let her fork slip and clink on the plate.Ryan's expression grew somber. His eyes blazed with fury."Thank you for your comments. We will try to make some changes based on your opinions. I really apologize that you didn't enjoy the dish." The restaurant manager was courteous and bowed to apologize."Don't mind her. The Osita family was in chaos. Their reputations plummeted. Alia Furniture stores' scores in Savrow were stagnant. To add to their woes, Kalus stopped support for them. If they could not come up with an idea, they would be bankrupt as soon as they used up the capital from Mike Corporation. The Denz family stunned the public by announcing that Alia Furniture was dealing in poor quality products. Zz World, after a long while, returned to the center of attention."Following your instructions, I had Michael Gordon secretly followed after he left his job. He had met Zeke on multiple occasions."Steven took my delicate hand and slowly massaged cuticle oil into my newly done burgundy-colored manicure. "You're so clever to have read that guy's mind.""He took bribes and teamed up with Zeke to go against the interests of our hotel. That means that they're in league with each other."I smiled contentedly as I luxuriated in Steven's attention. The Osita family is going to hold a press conference

Lydia went crying. The maids disliked Lydia because each time she arrived, she would behave. She would then cry and leave.Kalus sat stiffly on the sofa, staring blankly at the old suit."Young Master Kalus, it's already late. Have warm milk before bedtime."Wilma came to bring him a glass of warm milk. She could not help but sigh upon seeing the ruined suit. "What a pity."There was more than one interpretation in her words."The next time Lydia shows up here, keep close watch on her and don't let her come into my room or study. Amara's room too," Kalus whispered."Don't worry, Young Master. I will definitely keep watch on her!"Wilma continued, "Luckily, I had closed the young madam's room today. Otherwise, Ms. Osita would have crept in and messed it up as well.""Don't say that, Wilma. Lydia does not have evil intentions. Anyhow, I owe her a debt of three years.".And the young madam? What did the young madam do wrong? You divorced the young madam. Do you feel sorry for her?" Wilma
