The chime of the diner door was like refreshing music to my ears. It reminded me of my favorite coffee shop I used to go to before work every morning. The diner was outdated, with white-tiled floors, black booths, and light green trim. The glass cabinets by the register holding pies and desserts of all kinds.

My curiosity kept asking why Torrez would pick such a place to meet.

Casting my eyes towards Torrez, and I felt my brows narrow as he smiled at me. "Clarissa." The sound of my father's voice felt wrong and unwelcoming. Despite my nerves, I walked towards him and slid into the seat across. He was dressed to impress, and I noticed he seemed to take in every detail of me, as if reliving a memory.

"Cut the bullshit. What do you want to tell me?" My irritation was clear, and I was counting the seconds until I could leave. I just had to remember that it was vital for me to get any information from him, even if that meant being firm-handed to get it.
