Ava’s POV

I was still in my room when I heard noises at the front door. The sound of knocking on the door wasn't familiar. Usually I wouldn't even hear it if it were a guest or someone who had already left.

But it was so loud that it overpowered the noise from Aunt Portia's guests.

I could hear the neighs of horses and the sound of carriage wheels against gravel. A man spoke and the sounds of conversation filled my room.

I disobeyed Aunt Portia as I walked towards the door and peeked through the peephole. When I saw that har guests were leaving all at once, I stepped out as well.

There were men outside in horses and they all stood behind one who was their leader . He wore a black cloak and he looked as intimidating as a knight of old. But he wasn't just any knight.

“Who are you and what do you want?” Aunt Portia yelled at them. I wasn't surprised, she had always been a bold woman.

Her guests just stood there waiting for the drama to unfold . They didn't seem too shocked about how rude this lady was but they did have a smirk on their lips. Their leader turned around slowly.

“Hello Portia, is it?” His face seemed impassive.

“Well, yes. Who're you?” She asked again. “And are these your guards or something?” Aunt Portia glared at the guards. “They look rather suspicious.''

“Leon Morbius”

The name didn't ring a bell but I could see how fast Aunt Portia flinched at his name. She obviously knew him. “King of Nile” He continued and immediately knew who he was.

The atmosphere grew suddenly tensed . I didn't really get what was happening but something inside me stirred and made me step closer to Aunt Portia's side.

“You brother owed me a lot of money. I heard he is dead. I am here for it” Leon continued and I noticed the men shifted on their feet slightly. “So, what shall we do? Hand it over? Or would you like to give me some information to help my business along?” He wasn't smiling.

His eyes shifted from Aunt Portia to mine and they lingered for only a few seconds but it felt like hours. I didn't know why, but something inside my head screamed for him to look away. My skin was tingling with fear and adrenaline. And I was sure Aunt Portia felt that too.

“We don't have that much money. I don't know how to pay you back” Aunt Portia said while shaking her head. I thought I saw a hint of a fear on her trembling lips though. Her voice sounded weak.

He shrugged offhandedly. “Then I will take what I need.” He didn't wait for her reply before he pulled out a sword. Aunt Portia flinched and I gasped. There was an aura of death and darkness enveloping Leon.

The men behind him also drew weapons, I hadn't seen it coming. But the sight was terrifying.

“Please don't do anything rash” Aunt Portia pleaded but there was no point in saying that. We both knew he would.

Her guests were too scared to speak, so was her coward of a mate.

“Wait Sir” I rushed in front of him kneeling. “Please look at my family and I with mercy. we don't have that amount yet but I am sure if you give us a little time, we could pay you back bits by bits.” The last part sounded more like a question than anything but I needed him to stop.

His gaze was fixed on me as if I were a lab rat and I felt bare under it. My wolf was jumping inside of me with weird energy. I couldn't control it, my body wanted to fight back against it.

Leon Morbius was beautiful but his looks and aura of evil made him even scarier. If I didn't know better I'd say he was a devil sent here to bring destruction to the whole town.

Aunt Portia immediately grabbed me roughly by the arm and flung me back behind her. “What do you think you're doing? Do you want to get us killed, you fool?!''She shouted angrily.

She turned immediately to the king in front of us. “Pardon my niece your majesty for being so blunt.this idiot here doesn't know anything. Please forgive her” She spoke with a slight bow.

“And how about my money?” He inquired casually after looking around. I had never seen such an expressionless look on a human being's face.

There was something about him that made my insides burn, like he was a predator and we prey animals. I shivered uncontrollably, my wolf growled loudly in response. The hairs on my neck started to stand up.

“Mate” My wolf said in my head and at that moment he stared at me, long and hard.

It felt like he was speaking directly into my soul. As if he could read my thoughts, as if he had heard me.

It couldnt be, the moon goddess wouldn't frustrate me like this.

He turned to my Aunt again. “When will my money be ready Portia” he demanded calmly. The way he talked made me shiver. It was like he was the king himself and not simply asking for money. I knew I was imagining things, but I still couldn't calm myself down.

“We don't have it your majesty”

“Then you must have something in your possession to give me as collateral ”

There was no answer and I sensed something was wrong. Something was definitely wrong. This guy was very unpredictable. He wasn't going anywhere, he would stay until we told him what he wanted to know.

“We don't have…” My aunt tried once again.

He cut her off abruptly. “Very well, I'll ask you once more, do you have something in your possession? ” He repeated.

My heart thumped rapidly and my palms began to sweat.

“No your majesty”

“Then I want her” He spoke immediately, pointing at me.

AvaThey left me, and when they returned, I was still curled up in a corner with no clue where I was. There was a hole in my heart like someone had tried to take a chunk out of it with a chisel. I didn’t know if that would be worse than the emptiness in the space between worlds. “You are awake” The said leader seemed surprised by this fact, but pleased as well. He looked at me curiously, his hazel eyes seeming to study my face like he wanted to memorize every detail about me. It made me uneasy.I looked at the other men behind him, who were looking at me too. They all wore different clothes, different expressions. Some were kinder than the leader, most of them weren't. They all stared at me with the same look. A mixture of curiosity and distaste. “Do you want anything?”I shook my head not trusting myself to speak even if I could answer them. What would they do to me if I did? Would they keep me locked away for days or weeks while they planned how best to torture me? Torture me f

His naked body still hovered against mine and the anticipation of what he would do to me brought more wetness to my pussy. My heart sped up and a strange kind of heat spread through my blood. Leon I had been a drunk mess. I wasn't supposed to feel this sober but it was hard not to when your brain kept going back to that night. You were just at the wrong place, with the wrong people. It always seemed to be something like that. “Enough of this madness Leon! Get your act together!” Mother yelled from the corner of my chamber, disappointed at the mess she had seen.I let out a chuckle that had a bitter aftertaste and replied, “Yeah right mother, as if that would happen! This is me trying my hardest, you know?” She looked over at me from her position and frowned in response, shaking her head slightly.“Be a man! People are starting to gossip you know, that you are in this state because of that riffraff and I know better than to believe it! You can't possibly be like this because of her right? ” she said as if I didn't already know.I rolled my eyes and sighed loudly, “You're pushing it, mother. Use the door!” I said, pointing towards the door. “No! I would not. What is wro

AvaI screamed when I woke up, my head aching and my skin clammy. I could see a faint blue light filtering in through the window, casting eerie shadows across the walls of the room I was in and my face as I lay there, sweat beading on my forehead as I fought the urge to throw up all over myself.I wasn't alone, there were people staring down at me, their faces were everything but familiar and my heart started pounding hard against my ribcage when I realized that this couldn’t possibly be some dream because the voices talking around me sounded so similar to what I remembered from the woods. The only difference was that they were close to me.I looked around frantically hoping for some sort of escape route that would take me out of here but I only found two doors. It was going to be impossible to get past them.“Relax,” One of them said. His voice hadn't lost its hostility either, his tone still held the same edge of irritation as he said “We aren't here to hurt you.”There was anothe

AvaI walked off with no idea where I was going, just endless woods that stretched far and wide, the sky a deep grey, as the sun set into them. It didn't look like any place I had ever seen before, not one bit familiar. I couldn't even tell how far from my home it was, for all I knew I could be hundreds of miles away by now. And it didn't matter, because there wasn't a single person around. The only sounds were the rustling leaves above me, the occasional cawing from what felt like an enormous raven circling high above, or the chirping of various birds in the trees around me. And then there was the faint sound of a stream running somewhere close by, which made my heart skip a beat. A stream meant water, and I needed water badly. I hadn't had anything to drink since last night. So I headed that way, and sure enough, it was a stream, and I drank greedily from it like I never had before, and it did little more than fill the hole in my stomach. I choked on my tears as I drank some mor

LeonI watched her retreating figure, angry at myself for letting her go. It wasn't supposed to be that way! I should have punished her. I should have done something but I couldn't. My beast was against me, against the sudden decision that I was making, against the anger that had built in my chest. My beast wanted her near.I wanted her gone.An unfamiliar darkness had clouded my mental space, pulling me in with its unforgiving claws. It hadn't been there before. Not since she had become my companion. Ever since she had walked into the castle, everything had felt a little different. Her presence had been like an electric charge. The feeling of it vibrated through the air around us even when I tried to ignore it.But it had all been lies, she had played with my head. We were nothing more than tools to each other, to achieve our objective. But she had the upper hand. She always had. Her power was unshakable and it was intoxicating, addictive, like a drug.
