Chapter 25

Mallory

Just as hope surged through me, a burning timber blocked our escape. Holding the child close, I whispered a desperate prayer for safety.

Then, like a guardian angel, Sean burst into the fiery scene. His determined stride cut through the chaos. Relief washed over me as his strong arms enveloped us, lifting us away from the danger. We stumbled out of the burning house, gasping for air, our hearts pounding in sync with the crackling flames behind us.

As soon as we were out of harm’s way, the child's mother clung to her little one. The boy hugged his mother back, never wanting to let go. The mother turned to Sean and whispered, “Thank you, Alpha. Thank you for saving my son.”

But Sean shook his head. “I could have not made it in time. Thanked Mallory, instead. She was the one who protected your child until I came.
