Lyra’s POV

“You.”

The single word struck me harder than any slap I had ever received. I stood still frozen. My fingers tightened around the fabric of my dress as I stared at him.

He was still exactly as terrifying as I remembered. My heart hammered violently against my ribs.

He has finally found me.

After everything that had happened, after all the nights I had spent wondering whether I would ever escape this place, he was standing in front of me. And the first thought that entered my mind was

Lyra’s POV“Please…”He didn't answer. The noise from the banquet hall gradually disappeared behind us. We passed through a corridor, then another, until he pushed open a side door that led into a secluded courtyard. The moment the door slammed shut behind us, he released me. I rubbed my wrist and looked at him. His chest rose and fell heavily. He turned toward me. “Who are you?”My stomach dropped and I swallowed.“I already told you…”“Don't.” His voice was dangerously calm.I stopped.Cormac stepped closer.“I want the truth this time, Lyra.”“I've told you the truth.” I blinked. “No, you haven't.” He sneered. “Are you a spy?”My heart began pounding.“No.”“Did Logan send you here?” he asked.“No.”“Then who sent you?” He yelled.“No one.”His jaw tightened. “You expect me to believe that?”“Yes.”He laughed bitterly. “You appeared on my territory without warning. You lied about your identity. You lied about your pack. Your wolf can manifest without you shifting, and you resisted

He was still exactly as terrifying as I remembered. My heart hammered violently against my ribs.He has finally found me.After everything that had happened, after all the nights I had spent wondering whether I would ever escape this place, he was standing in front of me. And the first thought that entered my mind was absurdly simple. How am I going to get away from him this time?My feet shifted backward. He noticed. His lips curled slightly. “Still trying to run?”I swallowed. I wanted to deny it. I wanted to tell him he had mistaken me for someone else. Before I could respond, Logan turned his attention to Cormac.“I am taking her.”The words echoed through the banquet hall. A murmur swept through the gathered wolves.Cormac stepped forward. “No.” “You don't get to say no.” Logan's expression hardened.C

  • Claimed By The Lycan King   44. The Shadow Behind Him

Lyra’s POVMy heart jumped. It was one of Eileen's attendants. She looked at me with a blank expression."Lyra."I immediately became cautious. "Yes?""The Luna summoned you."My stomach tightened. "Now?""Yes."I looked toward my room."What does she want?"The woman merely turned around. "Follow me."I didn't move immediately.Nyx stirred. "I don't like this.""Neither do I."But refusing wasn't an option so I followed blindly. The walk to Eileen's quarters felt longer than usual and every step made my stomach twist tighter. When we reached the Luna's room, the attendant knocked.A voice came from inside. "Come in."The door opened. And the attendant gestured to me to go in. I stepped inside.Eileen was seated near the window, dressed in an elegant robe that probably cost more than everything I had owned in my entire life. She was brushing her hair slowly. She didn't acknowledge me at first. I stood quietly.Eventually, she looked at me through the mirror. "You're late."I frowned.

  • Claimed By The Lycan King   43. Cracks in the Cage

Lyra’s POVI jerked awake to the sound of the door flying open, my breath caught in my throat in the little cot that was barely my length. Matilda stood at the entrance and whispered two words. "Follow me." She led me back to the same route that led to my old room.Just like that I was back to my room. I wondered what had caused the change. I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the wall until my eyes burned. The days that followed became harder. I had thought that being moved back to the guest wing would mean a return to the status I had held before Eileen's intervention. Restricted movement, yes. Mia bringing meals, yes. But a certain baseline of being left alone.I was wrong. The omegas knew where I had been. Word traveled fast in the working quarters of a packhouse. They had seen me in the laundry hall. They had watched Matilda assign me to Harper's group. And now, seeing me returned to the guest wing with no explanation, they had drawn their own conclusions about what I was

  • Claimed By The Lycan King   42. A Dangerous Compromise

Cormac’s POVThe corridors were completely silent when I left my office. It was late.Far later than I had intended to remain awake, but sleep had become an increasingly useless luxury. Too many problems were piling up at once, and every solution seemed to create another complication. The business situation was still unstable. The Elders council was waiting. Eileen had become increasingly unpredictable even though have somehow been able to clip her wings from flying too high. And Lyra…I stopped outside her door. I didn’t know how I got there. I was heading to my room and too occupied with my thoughts. For a moment, I simply stood there, listening. I opened the door. The room was empty. Her smell was faint like she had been gone for a while. A strange uneasiness settled in my chest. I stepped farther inside.“Lyra?” I turned sharply and walked back into the hallway. Mia was in the corridor, carrying a folded set of sheets. She saw my face in her tracks."Where is she?" I demanded.

  • Claimed By The Lycan King   41. Rumors and Laundry

Lyra’s POVThe place reeked of sweat and despair, thick with the crushed spirits of Omegas who had been ground down by their own lives. It was nothing like the room and the rest of the wings I’ve been to in the packhouse. The atmosphere was entirely different. “This will be your room,” she gestured at me to follow her once more as she spoke. I followed her, trying to look steadier than I felt, my cheek still carrying the pain of Eileen's slap. The laundry hall was large and almost stifling. Women worked in pairs and threes, their sleeves rolled to their elbows. A few glanced at me. Most did not.Matilda stopped near the far end of the hall and turned to face me.“You will be joining the omegas on laundry duty today," she said..I looked at the stacked clothes waiting to be sorted. "Okay," I said, already resigned to fate. Back to being treated like a slave I once was.Matilda studied me for a moment with that same measuring look she always gave, like she was filing something away.
