Chapter 2

Kaia's POV

I bite back a groan as my body hits the wall. My back throbbing in pain. Brianne was still throwing daggers at me from where she stood beside Aiden, trying to make sure he was okay.

Resisting the urge to roll my eyes, I slowly got to my feet, assessing the damage caused by my sudden flight. My dress was torn and from the pain on my back, it wasn't hard to tell that a bruise was forming there.

“You bitch! How dare you put your filthy hands on me!” Aiden snarled, his wolf was nowhere to be found.

I'm done, my hands were trembling on their own. “I'm s-sorry. I don't know what came over me." I apologized, tears streaming down my face.

"I knew you were up to no good when I saw you in that dress." Brianne sneered, "You never learn, do you?" She spat, her eyes bulging.

I shook my head, nothing I said to her would prove that I wasn't just making up stories to get out of the trouble I knew was inevitable. I'm sure Aiden knew the truth and his words were the only thing that could save me.

Moving towards him, I fell to my knees, "Please, Aiden! I didn't mean to! It was an accident, I swear!" I cried.

Tears streamed down my face as I grasped his leg, desperate to get his attention. But he just stood there, his eyes glazed over as he mind-linked someone.

“Let him go!" Brianne yelled, her leg kicking into my side, causing me to groan. Using one of my hands to soothe the pain, I kept begging but it was of no use. He didn't even look at me.

The door barged open, revealing some of the pack warriors, led by Dylan and once he saw me, he paused. A look I couldn't describe appeared on his face but it was soon replaced with anger.

“What should we do with her, Alpha?" He asked.

“Take her to the dungeon until after the ceremony." Aiden replied, not sparing me a look.

"Honey, she should be there until she has learnt her lesson." Her voice was sickly sweet, making me want to throw up.

Aiden agreed. The betrayal hit me harder than I wanted it to. I already accepted that he was never going to be mine but punishing me over something we both had no control over killed something in me.

   “Yes Alpha."

Soon enough, two warriors were by my side, each dragging me by the arm

The trip to the dungeon was filled with begging, but they all turned deaf ears to me. I have never been there, but the stories told by those who had were horrifying.

   “Dylan, I swear I didn't do anything."

"Shut your mouth before I do it for you.” He commanded. He didn't have to ask twice.

The warriors dragged me down a narrow, dimly lit corridor, the cold stone walls seeming to press in on me. We descended a steep flight of stairs, the air growing thick with the scent of mold and decay.

At the bottom, a heavy iron door creaked open, revealing a damp, cramped cell. The warriors tossed me inside, and I landed hard on the cold stone floor.

The door clanged shut behind me, and I heard the sound of rusty hinges and scraping metal as the warriors secured the door.

I slowly got to my feet, my eyes adjusting to the faint light that filtered through a small, barred window high above me. The cell was tiny, with stone walls, a cold floor, and a ceiling that seemed to press down on me.

Several hours passed, and apart from the warrior guarding the entrance, nothing else happened. Sleep eluded me, and my stomach wouldn't stop growling having had nothing to eat and drink all day.

I must've passed out after the intense pain I felt earlier. It was already dark out and I could barely make out anything.

“Kaia!" The unmistakable voice of Dylan called, the flashlight he was holding producing my only source of light.

   “Yes." I called back weakly.

“Fuck!" He grunted, finally opening the door and coming to my side. “Can you stand up?" I shook my head.

He handed me a bottle containing apple juice and it was gone in minutes. He helped me up and out of the cell.

“Is Aiden going to kill me?" I asked, using the little strength I had.

“Save your strength, you're going to need it.” He simply replied.

I nodded again as he led me through the corridor and up the stairs. But instead of the door that led to the pack house, he took me through the back door.

“What are you doing? W-where are you taking me to?" I stammered.

“Which part of saving your strength do you not understand?" His voice sounded strained, like he was torn between answering me and just leaving me behind.

But knowing Dylan, I wouldn't put it past him to be leading me to my death. He did derive pleasure in watching me suffer…I knew he was having a blast right now.

As we continued on our track, we didn't come across any warriors on patrol. Being a Beta does have it peaks, he knew exactly where they would be patrolling and if the ceremony is ongoing like I suspect it is, then no one would pay attention to–

   I stopped walking.

“What is it this time?" He was clearly irritated.

“Are you helping me escape?" I felt a surge of strength I didn't know I possessed.

“Are you really this slow?” He asked. "You'll be dead within minutes.”

    Way to boost my confidence!

“Why are you helping me? You hate me." Thanks to the night light, I saw his features softened.

“If you make it out alive, call me." Before he turned back to leave, he handed me the backpack I hadn't noticed he was carrying.

“There's food and other shits inside."

"Thank you.” My tears were threatening to spill. If someone had told me help was coming, the last person I would expect to see was Dylan but here he was. Before I could stop myself, I threw my arms around him and his body froze under my touch.

“Go before anyone notices you're gone."

I nodded, sniffling because of the amount of crying I had gone through. I held him tighter, I might never get to see him again, I'd want to remember him…if not for anything, for another chance at life.

“And Kaia,” he called. "listen to the things I'm about to tell you.”

He gave me three warnings on how to survive on my own and soon, I was looking at his retreating figure. I was finally alone.

Following the directions Dylan gave me, I kept walking. It was easier since I didn't have a wolf.

I spent the whole night walking, only stopping for food and water. There was still a lot of ground to cover if I wanted to get to the city before Aiden realized I was gone.

Hopefully Dylan doesn't get in trouble for helping me escape.

Hours turned into days, and I was running out of supplies with no idea where I was. How did I think this was easier without my wolf? I would've covered more grounds.

My legs were killing me, and I could barely see anything. So I decided to end my journey for the day. But I wasn't that lucky.

“Did you smell something?" I heard someone ask.

“No. It's probably just some animal." His partner replied.

I hid myself behind a tree to avoid being seen, but just as I wanted to relax and celebrate my victory, my leg stepped on a branch giving me away.

“Come out." One of the voices commanded.

As slowly as my weak body could permit, I revealed myself to the men who towered my height easily.

  “Who sent you?” They asked.

"N-no one.”

"I'll give you one last chance to confess or you can…”

"I'm telling the truth, I swear.”

They looked at each other and murmured something about this being fun. I couldn't see their faces clearly, but I hated the sound of that.

Before I could fully comprehend what was going on, the both of them pounced on me, pinning me to the trunk of the tree. One of them ripped my dress off, leaving me in my underwear.

“P-please, stop." I begged, but they turned deaf ears to me.

“I'm sure the Alpha would like to know the details of how your patrol went." A new voice, dripping with authority said. And the two men came off me like I suddenly turned into lava.

   “We're sorry, Beta.”

"Take her to the dungeon.” He commanded and for the second time in one week, I found myself in a cell.

I was cold, starving and at this point ready to end everything. I was constantly living in fear of what was going to happen.

It wasn't until the next morning that heavy footsteps descended the stairs that jolted me awake.

“The Alpha is coming, he's angry.” I heard someone say.

I didn't bother standing up. Whoever he is, he couldn't be worse than my own mate who picked his chosen mate over me. And since I was a rogue on his pack, he could have me killed since rogues were considered a threat to the pack.

Suddenly, a low, rumbling growl echoed through my mind. I froze, my heart racing.

At first, I thought it was just my imagination, but then the growl grew louder, more insistent. It was a voice, a presence I'd never felt before. My wolf. But that wasn't possible, I didn't have one.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I heard it speak. The voice was rough, wild, and yet, it felt familiar, like a part of me I'd never known existed.

A smile appeared on my face, but it was gone as fast as it came when I heard its next word,

   “Mate."

Chapter 3 Kieran's POV "Remind me again why I need to see a rogue?" I asked Caleb, my Beta, my voice sounding tired from being in a meeting all day combined with my Lycan’s restlessness. “Because you're the Alpha and we need you to decide what to do with her." "What's there to decide? She's a rogue. Did she talk?” I asked. He shook his head. “Not a word. Ryder suggested waiting for you. She was in a bad state when we brought her in.” I nodded and followed him towards the dungeon. A rogue entering our land wasn't a new thing. But over the last few years after I became Alpha, their attack became less frequent and I wanted to keep it like that. As a pack, we took pride in making sure that our members were safe at all times. “Let's get this over with." I thought. Dealing with rogues was definitely my least favorite part of the day. As I approached the cell, my Lycan grew even more restless. He began to jump and dance around my head in excitement. "Mate,

Chapter 4 Kaia's POV As soon as the words left my lips, I regretted it. His piercing blue eyes were nowhere to be found, instead his wolf forced its way to the surface. I curled myself on the bed, bracing for rejection. For Kieran to tell me that I was right, that he didn't want me as his mate. Instead he moved away from me and out of the door. His footsteps faded down the hallway and I felt a pang of uncertainty. “Why did I have to say anything?" I thought. "Was I going back to the dungeon?” I asked myself since my wolf decided to play hide and seek with me. Since I heard her in the dungeon, I've been trying to call out to her but there was no response and it was killing me. "Why is my life such a tragic story?” I thought. First, I lost the only person who cared about me and then my father married a woman whose son hated my very existence but was also the reason I escaped from my mate who threw me in the dungeon. And now, another Alpha was claiming me as his mate

Kaia's pov "No, no no." My words played in my head again and again as I stared at him, my heart racing. “Did he just…?" "Yes, yes he did!" My wolf danced in excitement in my head, but I was pale with shock, my lips part in surprise. "Why?" I asked, my eyes finally drifted to meet with his blue ones, and my throat felt like there was a huge lump in there. He wore a puzzled look, “Why what?” He asked. He inched closer, and my heart stopped. Maybe he was joking, maybe this was a plan to make me look stupid like Aiden did. “Are you accepting me now so you can reject me later or you just want me close enough because your Lycan needs his mate?” I snapped before I could stop myself. And I have been doing a lot of it lately. Kaieran's eyes squinted a little before returning to their normal size, and creased lines appeared on his forehead. “Of course not, Kaia." My name rolled off his lips softly. “I'm accepting you because you are my mate, the only one who will complete me. Wh

Chapter 6Kieran’s POV “How can someone be so effortlessly beautiful?" I wondered, “all she did was stand and I lost my ability to make a complete sentence without making myself look like an idiot." "With a face and body like that, whoever rejected her is the real idiot.” King's words echoed in my mind and I couldn't help but agree. Whoever he was, did us a favour. But I hated that she had to go through so much pain to become ours. A picture of the bruises on her body crossed my mind and a growl left my lips. “Whoever did that to her was going to pay." My thoughts were interrupted when I got to my chambers where Caleb and Ryder were waiting for me. Their heads snapped to me, confusion written on their faces since it has only been a few minutes since I left. "Alpha, do you need something?” Caleb asked, his brows furrowed. I shook my head and sat on the chair opposite him. The only person who could give me what I wanted was in my room and still isn't sure if she wo

Kaia's POV I groaned, slowly opening my eyes. However, my heart skipped a beat when I noticed Kieran sitting on the bed beside me with his eyes fixed on me. "What the fuck is he doing here?!" I screamed inwardly, trying to steady my breath. He was staring at me, but in a moment, he spoke. "Good morning," his gentle voice rang, and my wolf purred. “I can't believe that even now she was turned on." but I lowered my head, and remained concerned about why he was seated there. "He probably spent the night here. Can't you smell his scent all over the room?" My wolf spoke, but I remained quiet, trying to steady my breath. "He greeted you, don't just stay silent, say something!" My wolf urged, and I instantly shut her up."Stop being pushy!" She kept quiet just as I had told her, and I heaved before raising my eyes to meet his gaze. "G-good morning." Somehow, my response seemed to light him up because he smiled, but it didn't really matter, so I tried to lower my head when

Kaia's POV Dani's energy was unmatched. We ran into a few people…literally and when they complained, she glared at them like it was their fault. As we stepped into the Mall's spacious interior, it felt like we were in a different dimension. People moving around with different agendas. Everyone was talking about on the top of their voice making everywhere a bit noisy but at the same time, peaceful. “We're going to start with dresses and I know just the perfect store." Dani said. I heard Kieran’s voice before I could respond, “hey." He called softly. "Get as many things as you want, okay?” He continued when I turned back. I managed to nod before Dani pulled me away. “With a body like yours, I'm going to enjoy dressing you up.” "I don't…I don't think so." All I heard about my body was how fat I was and how men were going to find me unattractive. And now, in less than a day of knowing me, she'd complimented me more than anyone close to me. “This is going to be perfe

I had been so scared that he was going to do something to me. And couldn't be more grateful that Kieran showed up when he did. My chest was beating really fast, like I'd just finished a marathon race. “I'm so sorry, Bella.” Kieran whispered, his breath warm against my ear. His hand tightened around me and I felt a lump form in my throat. I shook my head softly, “it's not your fault.” I told him, my voice barely above a whisper. "I shouldn't have left you by yourself, I'm sorry.” he apologized again. I was going to tell him not to apologize for something he has no control over, but my wolf’s voice stopped me. “He's already beating himself up for not being by your side and King is threatening to cut the man into pieces. You should try to calm him down.” She advised before retreating to the back of my mind. I let go of him s

He said, before walking towards me and stretching his hand, “my name is Ryder, Luna." He introduced himself. At this point, I doubt asking them to stop calling me that would make any difference, so I've accepted that. “Kaia." I told him, taking his hand. “We are going to be good friends, Luna. I have so many stories to tell you about the Alpha, but only if you promise to save my head later." This brought a smile to my face, “I can't promise you that." Chapter 148 Dylan's POV I was in shock as I continued staring at the girl…Nora. The way she put herself in front of me was making my wolf go crazy. My mind was no longer on what was being discussed in the room, all I wanted was to talk to her…alone, to confirm I wasn't imagining things. “Keep your eyes on her," Alpha Kieran commanded, bringing me back to the present. “I need to talk to Ryder about something." Nodding slightly, I led her out of the office and immediately we were out, she hastened her footsteps, trying to get away, but I was fast, grabbing her arms and the sparks which I had thought was a fragment of my imagination earlier, shot through me again. I could tell she felt it too. “What was that?" She feigned a confused look, “what was what?" She asked, snatching her arm out of my hand. I let out a frustrated sigh, my wolf wanted to take control but that would be a mistake on my part. He was far from being patient and the girl in front of me needed a whol

I replied. “What did you do to her? She looks like she wants to disappear." Kieran snorted as he sat upright, his arms around me loosening. “You found something?” He asked, clearly not interested in small talk. Dylan nodded and stepped forward, stretching a phone to Kieran. "She was talking to her mom about Luna Kaia, and there are pictures of her on the phone.” He said. “I think it might be connected to the attack." He added, his voice low as he spoke and he looked away from her. No doubt he didn't fight back which made everything worse. “You're here again." Allie said, “you're stealing my thinking spot and I don't think I like it." She added, coming to sit beside me on the bench. The pavilion was her favorite spot and because it was mostly secluded, it became mine too. “Thinking spot, huh? What else do you have to think about? You're the happiest I've seen you." Her smile widened, “I am happy…but it doesn't mean I can't come here to think." She said. “A lot of things have happened the past few days and even weeks, I just want things to go back to how they used to be." I nodded, understanding what she was talking about. Chapter 145 Kieran's POV I turned back to Gerald, now, even more determined as I couldn't wait to find out what Kaia wanted to tell me. “I'm listening." I said, referring to the question I asked him. “All I know is that the Alpha of their Pack knew something he shouldn't and in order to silence him, rogues were sent to their Pack, catching them unaware." He said, “but I had nothing to do with it." He insisted. “By their Alpha, you mean Alpha Marcus?" Caleb asked. My brows furrowed, everyone knew he was the Alpha and there was no need dwelling on that. But Gerald shook his head, “Alpha Marcus is the twin brother of the real Alpha." He said, “Alpha Matthew is the elder twin which makes him the rightful heir to the throne." I messaged my temple gently, if this was true, we were years away from finding Kaia's biological parents. I wanted to ask how he knew all of this, something even my Dad as an Alpha didn't know…or probably because I didn't ask. Caleb had suddenly g

It was confirmed that this Felix guy was born earlier than I was, which would suggest that the reason he was dead set on attacking the Pack was because he thinks that for whatever reason, he was supposed to be the Alpha of the Pack. “I mean, out of all the things I knew was wrong with your mom, cheating on your dad is next level.” King said. "You do know they're your parents too, right?” "Nah, I'll pass. But I'm glad he did the right thing.” My Dad’s rejection came as a surprise to me, it was the last thing I expected him to do.
