LOGINChapter 2
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
The slow beeping of machines echoed in Freya’s ears.
Her eyelids felt heavy as she forced them open.
Bright light stabbed into her vision, making her instinctively close her eyes. After a while, she blinked several times before she could focus.
White ceiling.
White walls.
Strange machines and tubes connected to her body.
Blood rushed to her heart, and it started beating thunderously in her chest.
Where… was she?
Her head felt unbearably heavy. When she tried to remember what had happened, her mind returned nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
It was like staring at a blank piece of paper.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t even remember her own name.
Fear slowly crept into her chest as her fingers curled around the sheets.
“Who… am I?”
The words formed in her mind before she could think, but when she tried to speak them, no sound came out.
Panic flickered inside her, and she felt like a stranger in her own body.
The door suddenly opened, and a man wearing a white lab coat walked in, holding a file in his hands.
Must be the doctor.
The moment he saw that she was awake, relief washed over his face, and he broke into a huge smile.
“Miss, you’re finally awake,” he said as he walked closer to the bed. “How are you feeling? Any discomfort?”
He leaned over, his lab coat almost covering her face. Freya frowned. She wanted to push him away, but her hands were covered in tubes and needles, and they couldn’t move.
She tried to respond to his question. “Ah… ah…”
But only broken sounds escaped her throat.
No words.
Not even a whisper.
Her eyes widened in alarm as she stared at the doctor.
The doctor glanced down at the file in his hand, and a frown appeared on his face. Freya could tell that it was not a good sign, but she couldn’t even ask what was wrong with her.
The doctor seemed to have read her mind as he spoke out, “You inhaled a lot of smoke at the crime scene,” he explained. “It likely affected your vocal cords. But don’t worry, a small surgery should fix that.”
Smoke?
Crime scene
Freya felt like the doctor was speaking in a foreign language as the words meant nothing to her.
She tried to search her mind for something, anything, but her thoughts remained empty.
It felt like someone had scooped all her memories out and left her hollow.
“Let me call your family and give them the good news.”
Family?
Did she really have one?
She searched desperately, but there was nothing there. No faces. No memories.
Just as the doctor reached for his phone, the door opened again.
A man walked into the room.
He looked tall and confident, dressed casually, with a strong, masculine build. At first glance, his looks seemed ordinary, but the longer Freya looked at him, the more she realized he was actually quite handsome.
The moment his eyes landed on her, his expression changed.
Shock.
Relief.
And something that looked like disbelief.
He rushed to her bedside in two long strides.
“Freya!”
His voice trembled slightly as he grabbed her hand.
“Thank goodness you’re finally awake.”
Freya.
So… that was her name.
Freya.
She studied his face carefully, searching for even the slightest hint of familiarity.
But there was nothing.
He felt like a complete stranger.
His grip on her hand felt too tight, making her uncomfortable. Slowly, she pulled her hand away.
The doctor cleared his throat.
“Mr. Moretti, I was just about to call you,” he said.
The man, Mr. Moretti, finally stepped back, letting go of her hand. He looked at the doctor sharply. “I told you to call me the moment she woke up. Why didn’t you?”
“I only just found out myself,” the doctor replied calmly.
Mr. Moretti turned back to her again, his expression softening.
He reached out and gently held her shoulders as if she were his treasured possession.
“Freya,” he said softly. “How are you feeling? You almost scared the life out of me.”
Freya opened her mouth again, trying to speak.
But no words came out.
Mr. Moretti looked at the doctor with concern.
“Why isn’t she talking? Is something wrong?”
“She’s fine,” the doctor said. “The smoke damaged her vocal cords slightly, but it can be fixed with a minor surgery.”
Mr. Moretti didn’t hesitate.
“Then do it. Whatever it costs, just make sure my best friend gets better.”
Best friend?
Freya looked at him again.
So, this man… was her best friend?
But why did she feel absolutely nothing toward him?
Was it because she had lost her memories?
…
Two days after the minor surgery…
The doctor stood beside her bed with a gentle smile.
“Miss Rossi, how are you feeling? Try saying something.”
Freya swallowed nervously before parting her lips.
“Freya… Rossi.”
The words came out rough and hoarse, but they were clear.
She finally got her voice back.
It sounded unfamiliar to her ears, but at least she could speak now.
The doctor nodded approvingly, his smile finally reaching his eyes.
“Good. Your voice is coming back.”
Freya hesitated for a moment before asking the question that had been haunting her since she woke up.
“Doctor… where am I? And what happened to me?”
The smile slowly faded from the doctor’s face, replaced by a dreaded expression.
A deep frown appeared as he pinched the space between his brows.
“Don’t tell me you don’t remember anything.”
Freya shook her head slowly.
Because the truth was terrifyingly simple.
She couldn’t remember a single thing.
Not her past.
Not her family.
Not even who she used to be.
Her entire life…
Was gone in the blink of an eye.
…
“Freya, it’s okay if you don’t remember anything. I am right here with you. The doctor said that it was only temporary.”
Freya stared at Kai Moretti.
He claimed to be her best friend from a life she could not even remember.
He had told her everything that had happened, and she couldn’t believe that her parents would do such things.
Things she couldn’t even begin to imagine.
Maybe God had left her behind so that she could pay for her parents’ crimes.
Even though they weren’t the best, according to Kai, they were still her parents.
And she needed to see them.
Even if it was just one last time.
“Kai, do you know where my parents were buried? I would love to visit them.”
“Freya, after everything they did… especially to you… Do you still want to see them?”
“I… I... just want closure. Nothing more.”
She lowered her head and whispered.
Chapter 42The moment the motorcycles crossed Raven Bridge, Luca and Kael dropped their machines into the turnaround section without losing momentum. It was a maneuver that demanded absolute precision. At the speed they were traveling, even the slightest mistake could send either of them skidding across the road or crashing through the guardrails into the dark river below.Kael leaned aggressively into the turn, his tires protesting as they fought for grip against the road. For a brief moment, confidence surged through him. The gap between him and Luca wasn't huge, but it was there. All he had to do was protect that lead until the finish line. That was all.But the confidence he had carried throughout the race began to crumble the moment he exited the turn and glanced into his mirrors.Luca was there, closer than ever. The black motorcycle seemed glued to the road as it accelerated out of the corner with frightening efficiency. Kael's grip tightened around the handlebars as disbelie
Chapter 41The moment the motorcycles disappeared into the darkness, the crowd erupted into chaos.Cheers, whistles, and shouted wagers filled the night air as members from both clubs rushed toward their bikes. Some planned to follow the race route from a distance while others immediately pulled out their phones to wait for updates from the checkpoints stationed along the highway.Freya remained rooted to the spot. Her eyes stayed fixed on the empty road long after Luca and Kael had vanished from sight, the thunderous roar of their engines still echoing in her ears. Everything had happened so fast that her mind struggled to catch up.Only a few hours ago, Luca had been teasing her in the kitchen and calling her his queen. Now she just discovered that the man she was slowly falling for was also the president of one of the most feared motorcycle clubs in the city. She had never really paid much attention to such things over the past five years, but now...The realization left her feelin
Chapter 40The racing highway wasn't far from where they were, and in a few minutes, everyone had already gathered.Freya clenched her fists as she watched Luca make his way toward the motorcycle waiting at the starting line. The crowd parted almost instinctively to let him pass. Some members of the Black Forge MC lowered their heads in respect, while others stepped aside with an almost reverent caution, as though standing too close to him might somehow place them in the path of something dangerous. Watching their reactions, Freya finally understood just how much influence Luca wielded in this world. He wasn't simply another racer preparing for a challenge. He was the president of the Black Forge MC.The man everyone here followed without question. He commanded respect without even lifting his finger. It was like he was born to be king.Luca swung one leg over the sleek black motorcycle and settled into the seat with practiced ease. Freya's eyes were glued on him as she took in ever
Chapter 39"What do you want, Kael?" Luca asked, shifting his attention back to the man he couldn't wait to burst his skull."You have grown some extra balls to dare come to my turf and cause trouble." His voice dripped with coldness, and the people around him could feel the pressure.Freya looked at Luca's back that was blocking her view, and her heart beat wildly. The large patch on his leather jacket. That weird smell of gasoline and gunpowder she felt the first time they met.It now all made sense.Earlier, she had joked that Luca looked like a mafia don. Who would have thought that her words would come true so soon?Although he wasn't technically a mafia boss, he still was some kind of boss.It made her fearful and excited at the same time, and the mixed feelings left her in a puzzle.Kael laughed after hearing Luca. He seemed to be the only one who wasn't fazed by Luca's overwhelming aura."I had to force you out of your comfort zone, and of course, it wasn't for nothing.""What
Chapter 38Kael jumped off his bike and removed his black helmet. The people behind him also stopped and removed their helmets one by one.Kael whistled and threw his key in the air before catching it with a swift move. His gaze moved towards Luca, and when he realized who it was, he burst into fits of manic laughter. He walked over and said, "Looks like today is my lucky day."Luca's gaze turned even colder. Freya looked at him with a worried gaze. These people did not seem like good guys. What do they want with Luca?Kael moved forward like he was walking on his turf. His gaze lingered on Luca for only a few seconds before he turned to Freya. He whistled again as his eyes shone with playful light."What a hottie." He commented.Luca's arm around Freya tightened, and his aura became lethal. How dare this man covet his little troublemaker? Does he have a death wish?"Kael, it has been a while."Luca's voice was cold, as if it had emerged from the depths of hell itself.Kael smirked.
Chapter 37Luca kissed Freya passionately, but he did not do anything else. No matter how much he craved her, he knew that Freya's body needed time to recover after what they did yesterday.Freya kissed him back, and even though she wanted him, she knew the limit her body could handle, so she allowed herself to melt in the kiss and enjoy the moment.Luca bit her on the lips all of a sudden, making Freya cry in pain. She looked at him with an accusatory gaze as if she did not deserve that.Luca chuckled and licked the spot he had just bitten. "Didn't anyone tell you that poking a sleeping lion is very dangerous?"Freya looked at him with a clueless gaze, "What do you mean?""Nothing. Go and freshen up. I will prepare you some lunch. I will take you somewhere in the evening."Freya looked at him and said, "I can help you in the kitchen. I am not as good as you are when it comes to cooking, but I am definitely a good chef."She had been doing chef duties for the last five years in her p
Chapter 32Luca lifted Freya with one hand like she weighed nothing and used the other to open the door, while still kissing her.Freya wrapped her legs around his strong waist and allowed herself to be lost in ecstasy.Luca did not even switch on the lights as he made his way to the master bedroom
Chapter 31"Where are we going?" Freya asked when she noticed that Luca was not driving towards the direction of Issa's house."You will see when we get there," Luca said as he continued to skillfully maneuver the steering wheel."So, how was your first day at work?" He asked as he looked at her th
Chapter 30Freya was heading to her office when she felt the urge to use the washroom. She found someone and asked for directions."Thanks..." Freya gave the other lady a long gaze, and the woman laughed nervously before saying."Kayla.""Thanks, Kayla. See you around." Freya said as she patted her
Chapter 29When it was lunch time, Luca wanted to take Freya to a fancy restaurant, but she insisted that they eat at the canteen.Luca had his special dining room at the office cafeteria, but he rarely went there. He can't even remember the last time he set foot into the cafeteria.Everyone was st
