LOGINAyla’s POVI stood frozen to the spot as my eyes was fixed on the silhouette hanging in the air, blood completely drained off my face. What the hell is that?“Hey! Why are you just standing there?” one of the girls yelled, attracting the attention of the housekeeper. I peeled my eyes off the mist and continued walking. I tried looking up at it again, but surprisingly, it had vanished. I sighed in confusion. Was it just my imagination? But I’m sure of what I had seen, it had been there. The doors to the maid quarters opened and I was stunned. The space was absolutely massive.“Each of you will have your own room. Go ahead and choose one. Lunch will be served in the dining hall in an hour then you will begin chores.” “Yes ma’am.” We responded as the house keeper walked out of the quarters.I looked around the maid quarters, searching for a separate space away from the crowd. Sighting a door at the other end of the quarters, i quickly walked over and turned the knob. The room looked pl
Ayla’s POVI gulped the invincible lump that formed in my throat as I stared at the men—wolves actually, who didn’t seem like they had a pack. “My name is Ayla, i am here for the selection.” I said, keeping my voice steady.“Take off your cap.” One of them ordered.I immediately took off my cap and looked at them, praying that my eyes doesn’t give me away.He stared at me for quite a long before nodding, “Follow me.” The other one ordered. I nodded and followed closely behind him. The Aura in this place was unsettling, it felt like there was something supernatural hovering around, I could feel it.We got to the second gate, he spoke some words to the guard in front of the gate, he nodded and opened it as we walked through. The third one was already left ajar, so we just walked through it. I was shocked to see the number of women who came for the selection. The guard said nothing else and walked away. I walked deeper into the compound, the main mansion looming closer and God—it was b
Ayla’s POVSarah’s expression flickered to a sad one. It’s been a month and we were becoming really close, she’s been nice to me.“Leave?” she whispered. “If you leave, where will you go? You know they will be looking for you.” “I know Sarah. That’s why I have to leave. If I don’t, you will get involved and I don’t want anything happening to you.” I sighed heavily, “I don’t know where I’ll go but I have to leave.” I responded. She sighed softly, closing her eyes before speaking, “I know somewhere you can go, but it’s quite far from here—and a bit dangerous,” she said. “Where?” I asked.“The Vane estate. I heard they are recruiting new staffs. It’s very secured and owned by a very wealthy man. You should be safe there.” She said.Vane estate? I’ve never heard of this before.“Okay. But, how do I go there?” I asked her.“The selection is in tomorrow so you have to leave early tomorrow.” She said, and grabbed both my hands, squeezing softly, “I don’t know what you have been through i
Ayla’s POVThe sky was slowly darkening with the sunset as I sat down on the seat given to me by one of the nurses. Sarah had brought me along to the hospital. She needed to buy a few gauzes and other medicines, having exhausted almost all of her own supplies while trying to save me.I could see the weird stares from people as they walked by. ‘That girl is insanely beautiful, but what’s wrong with her eyes?’ One asked.“Are those lenses? Definitely not. They look real!” Another whispered.I mean, I was shocked when I saw it too. I still cannot understand the sudden change in color, does it have something to do with my necklace? My hand instinctively touched the cold chain. I tried to take it off but it wouldn’t budge. I tried again, applying a little bit of force this time, but an invisible forcefield violently pushed my hand away. This isn’t the first time this has happened . Still, I’ve never taken it off—not even once. It feels like it was made to never leave my neck. I lifted m
Julian’s POV It’s been a month since Ayla disappeared. The pain of the broken bond still buried deep inside my soul, surfacing as a dull, hollow ache in my chest whenever the room went quiet. My wolf was furious, and even though we already marked Elena, he still craved Ayla. In the end, he’d had no choice but to side with his master and accept Elena as our chosen mate. I hated Ayla. She had left me with a scar that would never go away—a perfect reminder of her defiance. I will find her and make her suffer a thousand deaths for what she did. ‘She was our fated mate, Julian.’ My wolf growled. His voice an angry growl that had been clawing my mind ever since the rejection. “Shut up! The earlier you accept Elena, the better. Forget about Ayla.” I barked aloud. He gave one quiet resentful growl before retreating into the dark corners of my mind. Sighing in relief, I threw myself onto the office couch, massaging my forehead with my fingers. The door clicked open and Elena slipped in.
Ayla’s POV My eyes flew open, my sight blurry as a throbbing headache hit on every part of my head. I shut my eyes again, trying to breathe but I couldn’t draw air. My lungs felt stiff, like it was clogged, but I forced it, sucking in air sharply as my vision suddenly began to clear. I groaned as I took in my surroundings, a forest. I could hear the rushing sound of a stream. I tried to get up when a sudden wave of pain hit, spreading throughout my entire body. I looked down and groaned as the pain hit deeper. “Arghhhhhhh grrrr!” I gritted my teeth, trying to take the pain. I looked down at the knife Elena had used to stab me and decided to leave it in because it reduced the bleeding, else I would have bled to death. I dragged my injured body up, leaving a trail of dark blood behind me as I staggered through the forest, my hand clutching my stomach as I brushed through the forest in ragged breath. I limped farther and farther until I came out to an open space—an empty and lone
