Chapter 2

Seraphina Pov

Seraphina sat quietly inside the carriage, looking outside the window as the trees passed by. They have been travelling for hours, Her father and Adrian were talking about the Grand Peace Ceremony.

“There will be many important people there” her father said. “The ceremony will strengthen the relationship between the kingdoms”

Adrian nodded. “And after the ceremony, our families can finally start preparing properly for the wedding”

Seraphina eyes moved towards him, She already knew where this conversation was going.

“Our wedding” Adrian added.

She looked away. “I don’t want to talk about it”

Adrian frowned. “Why?”

“Because I don’t want to”

Her father sighed.

“Seraphina”

She didn’t answer, instead She turned towards the window again. The trees were moving past them, the wind making their leaves shake. She began to wondered what her life would become after marriage. Would she still be able to make her own decisions? Would she be able to go wherever she wanted? Or would everything become Adrian’s decision? She didn’t know. But she knew she didn’t want that kind of life, She wanted something different. Something that belonged to her, Not her family, Not Adrian but Her.

The sound of horses made her look towards the road, Some guards were riding beside the carriage and talking.

“I heard the Untouchable King will be attending the ceremony”

Another guard looked at him. “Kael Draven?”

“Yes”

Seraphina listened quietly, She had heard that name before.

The Lycan King. The Untouchable King.

“I heard his touch kills”

Another guard nodded. “They say he never removes his gloves”

“Why?”

“No one knows”

A traveler riding behind them laughed. “I heard people who get too close to him are punished”

“Punished?” Seraphina frowned.

The traveler nodded. “They say nobody is allowed to touch him”

Another person spoke. “Some people say he has no emotions”

“Why would they say that?”

“Because he doesn’t allow anyone near him. He doesn’t smile, he doesn’t show affection and he is always wearing those black gloves”

Seraphina looked outside. She couldn’t completely believe them because People always had something to say about powerful people. Maybe the King wasn’t as dangerous as they made him sound to her. Or Maybe he just didn’t like people getting too close.

Adrian looked at her. “You should be careful around him”

Seraphina raised an eyebrow. “I haven’t even met him”

“That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful”

She rolled her eyes and looked away. Another powerful man everyone expected her to fear, She had enough things to worry about. The journey continued. In silence, as The sun was already beginning to go down when Seraphina noticed something ahead. She slowly sat up.

“What is that?”

Her father looked outside. “We are close to Obsidian”

Seraphina looked through the window. At first she couldn’t see much, Then the huge black walls appeared in the distance. Her eyes widened.

The Obsidian Kingdom. The closer they got, the quieter everything became. Even the guards seemed more alert. Seraphina looked at the dark kingdom ahead thinking. Something felt different from The air, it felt colder and Heavier. She couldn’t explain it. But she suddenly had a strange feeling in her chest.

Like something was waiting for her behind those walls. She slowly looked away, For some reason, approaching the Obsidian Kingdom didn’t feel like entering another kingdom. It felt like she was entering something she couldn’t escape from.
