KAZIMIR

I didn’t come through the front door because I knew Maddox would run if he ever heard I was in his shitty club. He would use the chance to sneak away like the slimy frog he was and hide for the next couple of months before my men found him again.

No. I took the back exit, the one reeking of piss and desperation, because I wanted Maddox to piss himself when he saw me. The bastard owed me three million dollars. And tonight? He was going to pay.

The dim hallway swallowed me whole, the bass from the club thumping like a dying heartbeat. I didn’t need light to navigate. My wolf saw everything.

My brother told me not to come, that there were other ways that didn't require violence. But men like Maddox only understood violence. People like him would only respond to certain displays of violence.

Then....

A scent hit me like a bullet to the chest.

Wild and poisonous.

I knew that smell.

I knew it because I’d killed everyone who ever carried it. Everyone who carried that betrayer smell had died at my hands for their crimes against my family.

After ten years, to pick up that peculiar smell again after so long, I was feral.

Before I could react, a body slammed into me. Small and soft. All soft curves and sharp nails. Almost naked, with the fishnet and underwear she was wearing.

She looked up.

And the world fucking stopped.

Dirt brown eyes. Wide. Terrified. Raven black hair that fell across her face in waves and plump lips that looked bruised and red. Alive. She was alive.

No.

It was nearly impossible for her to be alive. How did she survive? She should be dead.

My hand shot out, fisting in her hair before she could bolt. She gasped, her pulse fluttering like a trapped bird under my grip.

Ariel Blondeau.

The only daughter of Alexander Blondeau, the man who murdered my parents in cold blood.

The family I had wiped out for their crimes against mine.

“You,” I snarled.

Her lips parted, probably to beg, then I felt it.

The electric current that charged through me was powered by my hands touching her bare skin.

My skin broke out in a sweat. No. It was impossible.

They say you only feel that unique current when you find your mate. I've heard old werewolves describe it, how it felt, but never have I thought I would feel it. That unique feeling that was a one in a million chance you would find your mate. Your other half.

In all my twenty-eight years of living, I never expected to feel it. Or even find it.

My wolf snarled, but I didn't want to believe it. It just didn't make any sense.

"No" I murmured.

She resisted under my grasp, her body thrashing wildly.

Who the fuck are you?" She exclaimed.

"Kazimir Rossi." I replied.

She stared at me with wide, unbelieving eyes, and then the hallway erupted with shouting.

“Where the fuck did she go?”

“Find her before the boss skins us alive!”

Two of Maddox’s meathead guards rounded the corner, their faces flushed with rage.

Until they saw me.

The bigger one stepped back, his throat bobbing.

I could smell the fear on him, the way he was about to lose control of his bladder.

What an idiot

“M-Mr. Rossi."

I didn’t spare him a glance. My fingers tightened around Ariel’s neck, her pulsing vein slamming against my palm.

Alive. Alive. Alive.

I couldn't fathom how she was alive and in front of me when ten years ago I saw her lay dead on the floor.

How was that possible?

How?

“Tell Maddox I’m here,” I said, my voice low.

The guards didn’t move.

I smiled. All teeth.

They ran.

....................

Maddox’s office smelled like him. Greed and the sour smell of failure. A peculiar looking dirty man whom I should never have done business with in the first place.

Men like Maddox were common in my world, and while I hated working with them, they were a necessary evil.

Cigar smoke. Cheap whiskey. The sour tang of a man who’d sold his soul for pennies. His eyes empty and soulless like his life, devoid of any meaning.

He stood when I walked in, his face draining of colour.

Good.

I loved that he feared me.

Then his gaze flicked to Ariel, still struggling in my grip.

“Kazimir,” he croaked. “I—I didn’t know you were coming. I would have been able to welcome you properly."

“Clearly.” I dragged Ariel forward, her bare feet scraping the floor. “You have been very busy.”

Maddox swallowed. “She’s one of mine. One of the new girls I acquired. She starts work tonight. I can let you have her first for free as a welcoming gift."

Ariel hissed. "I’m not yours...."

My grip tightened. That shut her up.

Maddox licked his lips. "If you just give her back, I can..."

“No.”

The room went silent.

I leaned in, letting my wolf bleed into my voice. "She’s mine now."

Ariel jerked against me. "The hell I am!"

I ignored her, focusing on Maddox. “Consider her your first payment.”

His jaw clenched. "You can’t just..."

I bared my fangs.

Maddox sat down.

................................

The second we were outside, Ariel exploded.

“Let me GO!” She twisted, nails raking down my arm, drawing blood. “You can’t just.... who the fuck do you think you are?!”

I didn’t answer. Just shoved her into the back of my car, climbing in after her.

She lunged for the door.

I caught her by the throat.

Not hard enough to hurt.

Just enough to remind her.

Her breath hitched, her pulse wild under my fingers.

“You’re going to explain two things to me, little wolf,” I murmured.

“One, why you're still breathing.”

Her lips curled. “Go to hell.”

I leaned closer, my mouth brushing her ear.

“And two…”

My canines grazed her skin.

She shuddered.

“Why the fuck you’re my mate.”

KAZIMIR "Didn't I ask you to stay away? You should be serving out you punishment far away from here." I told Dimitri. He shrugged."I'll serve it later. Besides, you forgave me remember?" He said with a sly grin and I rolled my eyes. "We'll talk about reports later. I'm stressed out." Nikolai straightened, also grinning. "What do you have to be stressed about? You're the Alpha. You have everything."I didn't answer. I couldn't explain that everything was precisely the problem. That every decision I made felt like a trap. That the woman I should hate was living in my house, sleeping under my roof, and I couldn't stop thinking about the way her body felt pressed against mine.So I hit the bag instead.Dimitri sighed. "Fine. We'll discuss the reports later." He moved to the weights, starting his own workout. Nikolai joined him, the two of them falling into easy conversation about pack logistics, about the upcoming allied meeting, about whether Lev would come down to join us. Normal

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   The loaded gun

ARIEL The bug sat on my nightstand like a loaded gun.I'd been staring at it for an hour. Maybe two. Time had stopped meaning much since the kiss, since his mouth on mine, his hands on my waist, his voice saying I can't stop like it was a confession and a curse all at once.I should have planted it. I'd had two chances. Two chances to save my daughter, and I'd failed both times because of him.Because when he kissed me, I forgot how to breathe.Because when he looked at me with those dark, hungry eyes, I forgot why I was supposed to hate him.Stupid, I thought. So stupid.I picked up the bug. Turned it over in my fingers. It was small, smaller than a button, matte black, designed to disappear. Viktor had chosen it carefully. He'd chosen everything carefully. The meeting spot. The deadline. The way he'd looked at me when he said three days.Three days.Today was day two.I set the bug down and looked around the room. Evie was asleep in the bed, her small body curled around her stuffed

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   Decisions decisions

KAZIMIR Attached were three photographs. Three women. Beautiful, poised, each one accompanied by a detailed list of her bloodline, her skills, her suitability as a Luna. I recognized the names. Old families. Powerful families. Families that had been jockeying for position since my father's time. They were trying to cage me. And they were using Ariel to do it. "What is it?" Nikolai asked. I handed him the letter. He read it, his face darkening. "They're insane," he said. "They can't force you to marry." "They're the council. They can try." Dimitri took the letter next. His jaw tightened as he read. "Three women," he said. "All from families that opposed Father during his succession as Alpha. Is this a joke?” "Of course. They want leverage. A wife they can control, who will give them access to me.” "And if you refuse?" "Then they send their own pick. Maybe the worst of them.” Nikolai ran a hand through his hair. "This is insane. You're the Alpha. You don't

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   The messenger

KAZIMIR I didn't sleep. The study was dark now, the fire burned down to embers, the whiskey decanter half empty. I sat in the chair behind my desk, the same desk where she'd been pressed against the wood, her back arching, her mouth on mine, and tried to remember why I hated her.Blondeau, I told myself. Traitor's daughter. Enemy. But my lips still tingled where she'd bitten them. My hands still remembered the curve of her waist. My wolf was still pacing beneath my skin, restless and hungry, demanding more.I pressed my palms against my eyes and groaned."Get it together," I muttered. "She's only playing you."Because that was the only explanation that made sense. Ariel didn't kiss me because she wanted me. She kissed me because she was hiding something, because she'd been caught in my study, because she needed a distraction, because I was a means to an end.I was being used. And the worst part? I didn't care.I wanted her to use me again. -—————————————-Dimitri and Nikolai returne

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   Two more days

ARIEL The second kiss was slower. Deeper. Less like a fight and more like a conversation. His hand slid from my waist to my hip, pulling me closer, and I let him. His body pressed against mine, and I felt everything, the hard planes of his chest, the strength in his thighs, the evidence that he wanted this as much as I did.I wanted to hate him. I wanted to remember every reason this was wrong. But my brain couldn’t think. His mouth was on my neck, and his teeth grazed my throat, and I already forgot how to think."Ariel." His voice was rough, broken. "We should stop.""Probably."Neither of us moved. His lips brushed my collarbone. My fingers tightened in his hair. The desk bit into my thighs, and the cold of the room was nothing compared to the heat of his body."Why did you come to my study?" he asked against my skin."I told you. Curiosity.""You're lying.""I know."He pulled back, just enough to look at me. His lips were swollen. His eyes were dark with lust. He looked like a

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   The distraction

ARIEL The study was empty.I'd been watching the door for twenty minutes, hidden in the shadows of the hallway, counting the seconds between footsteps. Kazimir had gone to Lev's lab an hour ago. Dimitri and Nikolai had left the estate,, I'd seen their car disappear down the driveway. The maids were in the kitchen. The guards were at their posts. This was my chance. The door opened easily, no lock, no security code. Either Kazimir was careless, or he was arrogant enough to believe no one would dare enter his private space. I stepped inside and closed the door behind me.The study was everything I expected. Dark wood. Heavy curtains. A fireplace that had gone cold. Bookshelves lined with leather-bound volumes that probably hadn't been opened in years. A desk the size of a coffin, papers stacked in neat piles, a laptop dark and waiting. And everywhere, the scent of him. Cedar and smoke and something darker. Something that made my wolf sit up and pay attention.I shook it off.Focus. Get
