CLAIRE's POV

I looked at Luis with anticipation and a hint of fear. What exactly was in the bushes. I morphed back into my human self and threw on the clothes Luis had brought while keeping my gaze fixed on him.

Something was wrong.

Luis was not moving and not saying a word. He just stared at the bush. Immediately I had worn my clothing, I approached cautiously and craned my neck to look at him.

Luis had his mouth hung wide open and his eyes fixed on the bushes. A perplexed look was plastered on his face and that got me wondering what had made him so transfixed.

I heard a subtle whimper coming from the bushes and I snapped my head towards that direction. In the bushes lay a woman. She was crouched down and occasionally stole fearful glances at Luis and me.

“My mate,” Luis muttered.

I snapped my head back at him with my eyes wide. Did he just say....my mate?

I looked back at the woman and then back at Luis. What was going on?

“Luis?” I called out to him.

He ignored me and moved closer
