Chiara

I went back to my prison again.

This time, unlike how I had arrived last time, I did so with my face swollen from crying in Alessandro's limousine and with a box of disposable wipes on the side to wipe the snot that came unhesitatingly out of my nose.

I was fatigued.

Alessandro knew it, and he hadn't made any scathing remarks.

I was grateful for that.

When we entered the house, Loreta was looking at me with a disappointed expression on her face.

She was about to say something to me, but I ran into the bedroom and locked myself in immediately to get as much privacy as was possible in that house.

I felt lonely and hopeless.

I was fed up with the situation.

So, after crying a river, I fell asleep.

I was awakened by a caress on the tip of my nose.

When I opened my eyes, Alessandro was sitting on the bed and had a tray of food on the side.

“Loreta told me you haven't eaten anything today,” Alessandro said with concern, and I sighed. “I brought you a turkey sandwich.”

I sat on the be

ChiaraMy birthday used to be a sad day.I avoided any show of celebration, and my grandparents respected that; however, they always gave me books as gifts. It was the thing I looked forward to most every year, the surprise book I least expected. That year the situation was completely different. My grandmother was dead, and my grandfather was hospitalized to improve his health.I had to call Grandpa to let him know I was okay.“I miss seeing you; please try to come. I need to give you your birthday present; I have been saving it for months,” my grandfather said, and I couldn't help the tears.“I'll come soon, just be patient, please,” I asked my grandfather, and he sighed. “Are your father and brother treating you well?”“They are treating me wonderfully,” I told the lie with some difficulty.“I hope so, Chiara,” my grandfather said before hanging up.I sighed, and Loreta knocked on the bedroom door and then calmly walked in.She was carrying a large box and frowned.“This came from

Alessandro“What the hell are you doing, Luca?” Shouted Chiara briskly and got in the middle of her brother and me.That annoyed me; she had promised me that she wouldn't get between me and a gun.Her promise seemed to be in vain.“You told me you were going to take care of her. I gave her to you precisely because you said her safety was going to be your priority, and you lied,” Luca said briskly.Loreta had an annoyed expression on her face.My guards surrounded Luca, but I just motioned for everyone to leave us alone.Chiara watched as everyone, including Loreta, walked away from the room.“But what are you guys doing?” asked Chiara, and I pushed her away.“What you should be doing,” I said to her.“I'm not leaving; you are going to kill each other,” Chiara said, and I looked Luca in the eyes.“Your brother isn't going to kill me, and he's going to put the gun down to stop his tantrum,” I said right away, and Luca growled before putting his gun away.“You think I can't kill you?” qu

AlessandroI realized that everything had been misunderstood.Chiara looked at me with annoyance, but mostly with disappointment. That feeling was not something I wanted to deal with. I could take her hatred, not her disappointment, so the mere thought of it made my blood boil.“No,” I said immediately. “If I had wanted to destroy your father, I would have long ago done it with his business, with what really hurts him.”Chiara looked at me with wide eyes, and I knew my words had struck her. You're a fool, Gregory said before growling.“I didn't mean to—”“You're right,” Chiara said with a sad smile. “That wouldn't hurt my father.”“I didn't mean to be cruel,” I said honestly.“I know, and that's what doesn't make me want to hit you right at this moment,” Chiara said sadly. “Was anything about our meeting real?”“Everything,” I said immediately. “I didn't know who you really were when I saw you at the party. I knew Lorenzo would introduce his daughter, and I knew about the threats his

ChiaraTraining had to stop because of problems with the new fence. That started to drive me crazy.Three whole days of only seeing Alessandro in the evenings was bothering me. I didn't know exactly why, but he would just go to bed to sleep and come out very early in the morning.I concentrated on working again, although it didn't work.My mind was dull, and I wanted more of Alessandro's scent. So I went looking for more clothes in his closet.I couldn't find a strong smell to calm my anxiety, so I rummaged through everything in his closet; that's how I stumbled upon a box. I couldn't help but take it out of the closet and look through it. I didn't know if Alessandro might be hiding any secrets, but I did know that if he had dared to pry into my affairs, I had the right to do the same.I never imagined what I found when I lifted the lid of the box.Inside the box were many papers in Italian, papers that must have been important; however, what really surprised me was to see a picture o

ChiaraThe days passed quickly. The ointment left by the healer was not only magical but also incredibly effective. By the fifth, the wound had closed, and the scar was beginning to lighten. I had no idea what it was that turned out to be so good, but I didn't complain about the results.Alessandro was much more anxious about all the repairs they had to do to the house, not because of the expense, but because of the fact that they had to accept the presence of strangers. That had him on edge, and because of that, I wouldn't leave his room. I had stayed with him so that he could control himself sufficiently. My smell calmed him down.It was something I could tell; every time he came close to smelling me, his body stopped tensing up completely.“How long will the repairs last?” I asked him on the morning of the sixth day after I woke up.“Until three days from now, according to what the contractor indicated,” Alessandro said. “Past those days, we'll adjust a training area at home. And t

AlessandroThe doctor and Loreta urged Chiara to sleep again.“You must try,” Loreta said. “Early we'll check the wound again and clean it. Right now it's wear and tear for you to stay up all night; you're going to change your circadian rhythm, and it's going to affect you. Get back into the rhythm.”“I'm just not sleepy,” Chiara said sincerely.“Then do it for Alessandro,” the doctor said. “He hasn't been able to sleep since he brought you in. He needs rest, and he won't if you don't.”I looked at the doctor with a frown but was surprised by Chiara's reaction.“Haven't you slept at all?” She asked with concern and moved to the side of the bed. “Come, sleep with me. Can she do it?”“No,” I said, and Loreta smiled.“Yes, he can sleep next to you,” she said confidently.“As long as you take care of your wound, yes,” the doctor said.Chiara opened the sheet and made room for me on her bed.I sighed with embarrassment but didn't hesitate to climb into the bed.It was small, but the mattre

AlessandroThe doctor stabilized Chiara and was able to transfuse her blood. At first the man was afraid that the human blood was not enough for Chaira, but she accepted it without problems. That generated a debate between him and Loreta that I ignored. I just stayed in the recovery area next to Chiara.I could not be separated from her, and everyone knew it.I couldn't explain the need I had to stay there, next to her; the only thing I could show others was how irritated I got when someone suggested I go and rest.Gregory would take control of my body; my eyes would turn golden, and I would grunt loudly. The only one who dared to challenge me was Loreta.“Don't be stubborn, go take a shower and get comfortable,” Loreta said without hesitation. “The way you are, you generate tension with Chiara; believe it or not, she feels the discomfort.”I scowled at her, and as if she needed reinforcement, in came Nicola and the doctor.“Loreta is right,” they both said in unison.“Go change, Ales

AlessandroI was on my way home when I saw the trespassing alarm on my property.I immediately pulled out my phone when it rang with the tone I assigned to Chiara's number and saw the message she sent me. The blood drained from my face as I became aware of what was happening. It was as if my world had finally been rocked. In that instant I understood the words my father said to me before he died, at my mother's birthday party.“When you find your mate and someone dares to park next to her, at that moment you will know what it's like to have someone rock your world,” my father said earnestly. “Nothing else will matter anymore but getting her to safety. Remember that when it happens and fight to keep that feeling from coming back to you.”At that moment I clenched the can in my hand and let go.“I need pictures of the house,” I spat, and Nicola agreed to the server. Many guards were dead outside and inside the property, so I accessed the forest cameras and saw something that chilled my

ChiaraI felt free for a moment. The sea of Catania was like a gift I had never had, and I simply decided to be a child who just wanted to play on the beach. What surprised me was to see Alessandro take off his shoes and run towards me and start splashing me with water.I screamed in surprise and then started splashing him.We laughed loudly until we sat down on the sand.I looked around the whole area, and the place was magnificent; the privacy was unique altogether.“This is paradise,” I said before sighing.“It was my father's gift to my mother after they got married,” Alessandro said, and I raised my eyebrows. “She was a lover of swimming, so she didn't hesitate to buy a place where my mother would feel safe.”“That's an unheard-of gift,” I said with a smile. “Your father didn't beat around the bush when giving gifts.”Alessandro laughed in amusement.“I know,” he said. “They were very special.”“Why?” I asked curiously.Alessandro didn't usually talk about his parents; I was curi
