“You’re leaving?!” Sam shouted in disbelief, as he follow me around while I move some of the boxes in one corner. I thought I would have a quiet time as I clean my office inside my bar. But then he came.

“I thought you are here to stay? I thought we would be together forever? Did I do something wrong?”

“No, you didn’t,” I replied, “And we told you from the start that our stay here is just temporary.”

I was not planning to tell Sam about us leaving until the last minute. But since I sold the bar to one of his friends, it was unavoidable.

“Was it because I was pressuring you to pledge your loyalty to me? If that’s it I will stop. Please Athena, just don’t go.” Sam held me by the wrist making me look at him. It made me feel sad seeing the look he had in his eyes. I did not want to hurt him, and I know that I had been so clear with how I felt for him. He’s one of my best friends and that’s where it ends. I can't just offer anything more than that.
