14. VALIANT

It was supposed to be my lucky day.

I lost the case even though I wore my lucky tie. All the hard work down the fucking drain due to one stupid thing I missed. To make it even worse, I had to find out from a co-worker that Daisy had been caught on camera with Alexander.

Paperwork waited for me when I walked out of court. I had to take care of it before I could leave.

It was almost midnight when I entered the penthouse.

My tie had been removed during the drive home. I lost my jacket on the way up in the elevator and was busy unbuttoning the top buttons of my shirt as I walked through the dark penthouse.

There was no lingering smell of a cooked meal waiting for me like there usually was.

My brows dipped into a frown when I entered my bedroom.

I flicked on the light and dropped my case down on the desk in the corner. Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, I kicked off my shoes and pulled off my socks.
