49. DAISY

“Good morning, how are you feeling?”

My eyes darted around the kitchen, searching but only finding David seated at the table. I could have sworn I smelled Alex’s scent on the pillow when I woke up. We had a conversation and he told me that Elias was in the hospital.

“He’s outside, making some calls,” David said softly.

My shoulders slumped as relieve flooded me.

“You didn’t answer my question. How are you feeling?”

I licked my lips as I stepped further into the kitchen. “A little shaky and I have a headache.”
