Chapter 5 – Official Secretary

Ezekiel was taken aback when he saw her fall, so he dashed over to her and helped her sit down on the couch. He ordered Luke to grab a medical kit, and he did as he was told, Luke place the kit on top of the table near them.

“Where are you going?” his boss said as Luke was ready to leave the office. “Si—sir, I forgot to pick up the paperwork at the information desk,” Luke replied and shook his head. “They told me that I have to sign it right away.”

“Then who will apply the medicine for her?” Luke grins as Ezekiel interrogates him.

“I can do it on my own,” Bella said, and Luke walked away. Ezekiel looked at her and spotted the cut on her brow, and instead of being pleased with what he saw, he became concerned for her, causing him to close his fist.

Bella reaches for the medicine kit, grabs a cotton ball, and drops a liquid on it; she pulls out her mirror and uses it to check her wound and apply the treatment to her brow while Ezekiel stands near and watches her. He was annoyed while watching her, so he grabs the cotton from her and says, "Let me do it."

Bella's eyes were fixed on him, her heart was pounding as he knelt near her and applied the medication to her wound. At that moment, she was dazzled by his perfect appearance; she felt butterflies tickling her stomach, and her heart rate did not return to normal; instead, it increased. She felt a sudden flush on her face as she scanned his face and gazed at his sexy Adam's apple.

She is beginning to view him differently, and she is beginning to forgive him even without asking for it.

When Ezekiel noticed she was amusingly looking at him, he pressed it hard on her wound, causing her to shout and experience the pain even more.

She pushed him away from her, but his body is powerful, so he didn't move; instead, he threw the cotton ball on her and said angrily, "you are a crazy lady!" Do it on yourself!” He turns around and walks back to his table.

Bella frowned toward his attitude at her, “you are crazier than me,” she murmurs.

“What exactly did you say?” He approached her, and she was astonished that he had heard her.

She stood firmly and responded without hesitation, "I said you're crazier than me."

Ezekiel became annoyed by her response and clenched his teeth in irritation. Trying to suppress his rage, he smirked at her and said, "Before I forget, I want to let you know that I instructed my assistant to draft the contract for you." He was flabbergasted by her demeanor; no lady had ever treated him the way Bella had.

“What exactly do you mean?” She is perplexed by his statement.

He walks closer to her and said to her face, “you will officially work for me as my secretary.”

“WHAAAAT?!?” she said in amazement. “I repeat, you will be working for me as my secretary,” he walks around her.

Bella drops her jaw and stands still as if the clock had stopped ticking.

“You should hurry in what you are doing because every second counts unless you are planning to work here for a year.” She heard him said that she’s back to her senses and disagreed to him, “I’d rather choose to be your maid than to be your secretary!”

“You forgot that you have no right to choose, you will be my secretary whether you like it or not,” he whispers to her ear and smiles at her.

“This is really absurd! How did I end myself in this situation? I don't want to work for this nasty, arrogant, and irritating man! I wouldn't be in this dilemma if I have not seen the man's face on the billboard! I have a hunch Mr. Wright is a jinx in my life, therefore I'd best avoid going down that road or seeing any billboards advertising his photos.” She said to herself.

Luke came to the office holding the contract, and offer it to Bella. “Miss, please sign the contract,” Luke instruct her. Bella just stared at the files he’s holding then she glances at Ezekiel seriously.

“You have no other choice, Miss. Or you want me to give you another option again?” he boastfully said, he thinks for a while. “Oh, it’s either you sign that or you will be rotten in jail. Which do you prefer?” he added then grins at her.

“My name is not here,” Bella laments as she holds the pen and looks at the papers to sign.

Luke answered, “Miss, you haven’t introduced yourself to us.”

“It’s because you haven’t asked me,” she sarcastically said and signed the contract. Luke gave the contract to Ezekiel, he looks at the signature of Bella on it and reads her name out loud as if he didn’t know her, “Bella Chen.”

She rolls her eyes at him.

Meanwhile, Anastasia and Emily were sitting and having a cup of coffee in a coffee shop, they were both worried about Bella. Mrs. Wright doesn’t have any news coming from his son about the search for his future daughter-in-law.

Emily sighs deeply and checks her phone while Anastasia sips a small amount of her cappuccino, she placed her cup on the table and glances at her best friend.

She reached her friend’s hand and held, and said, “don’t worry, Emily. My son is doing his best to find your daughter.”

“I can’t avoid being worried about my daughter, I know that she’s pretending to be stubborn but she is a weak lady on the inside.” Mrs. Chen worriedly said.

Anastasia is eager to hear from her son, so she texted Ezekiel to inquire about the status of his search. A few minutes later, she received a message from him. She was glad while reading the message of her son, “Emily, your daughter is safe. You can calm down now,” she said.

Emily was overjoyed when she heard the wonderful news from her buddy, “really? Where is she? “I want to see my daughter!” she exclaimed.

“Emily, my son wants us to give them some time to get to know each other and have fun for a month. What can you say about it?” Anastasia inquired.

“What a fantastic idea!” She cheerfully answered.

“Indeed! Anastasia chuckles as she says, "I'm expecting good news from them."

In the meantime, Bella carefully opened her eyes, she stretches her arms up and sat on the bed then lean her back to the headrest then she giggles in delight. “Yes, it was just all a dream, no, it’s not a dream, it’s a nightmare!”  She lets out a sigh, then she travels her eyes around the room.
