Chapter 14

Scarlett's POV

I was woken by my ringing phone. It vibrated really hard, and it almost threw me off my bed. It was Michelle on the phone. I hurriedly cleaned my eyes, and rushed into the toilet since Thane was still asleep.

I closed the door in a way that I'd easily sense a move from Thane. I sat on the toilet, making sure I was postured right. Michelle called not long after again.

“Hi baby.” I muttered.

“Girl , don't fucking baby me!” Michelle snapped. “Where the fuck have you been for two days?! I want to drag your hair so bad!”

“Relax.” I whispered, hoping I wasn't loud. “I was kidnapped!”

“What?!”

“And I think I have two mates now, and one is a beast.” I whispered again, making sure Thane was still asleep.

“Girl, spill now!” Michelle ordered, and I told her everything that had happened.

I barely left out any detail, to the point of their looks.

“Damn… that's crazy.” Michelle sighed. “I thought you were having so much fun without me. I was close to telling your parents so they'd at least find you, and I'd be sure that you're alive.”

“I'm alive, but I almost wasn't.” I responded, thinking about Franklin.

“So, Franklin or Thane?” Michelle asked.

“Honestly, I might kill Thane, but aa of now, neither of them.” I sighed. “I need to find a way to save Franklin first.”

“I'm sure he'd be made of hot stuff.” Michelle said and I chuckled.

“Your stepfather had my room wiretapped, and somehow he thought I wouldn't find out.” Michelle said with a devious laugh.

“And what is made of his supposedly wise decisions now?” I asked.

“I sent the signals to the room where those girls in love with each other sleep.” Michelle said, and I could see the smirk on her face although we were far away.

“Lisa and Kira?”

“Yeah. Them.” Michelle said.

We switched to a video call and spent a lot of time talking. I ended the call when I started hearing groans from Michelle, but that wasn't after properly saying goodbye.

I went back to my bed like I wasn't just on a call with my favourite human.

By the time I left my room, I first had to see the registrar who was visibly angry with me.

“I was almost killed.” I muttered, seeing it as my only way out of the mess I was in.

“What?! What happened?!” He asked, looking very annoyed.

“I'll tell you, but you must promise not to involve the police, or my parents.” I asked.

“I promise.” He growled.

“Some of the students whose faces I didn't see, waylaid me, and then beat me up.” I said, showing him bruises that had cleared off from my mother's beatings but were there as scars. “They chased me out, and I even had to fight a mountain lion.”

The registrar looked sorry and mad at himself. I looked at his desk to remind myself of his name. We were supposedly bearing the same name as he was my relative that had never seen me.

“I should have known better than to let people know about our relationship.” John sighed. I was surprised that he took it immediately. “A lot of people want to get at the registrar.”

“John, I promise to be on the lookout for myself, and to fight against them if it ever happens again.” I said, and he nodded.

“I'll check on you later, but for now, keeo your head low, and stay focused.”

“I will.” I said, assuring him with a smile. I skipped out of his office.

Classes were a blur. The boys were having it easy with their calculus classes. It felt like they were having mercy on them because of their sports activities.

I met up with Zion after my classes, and we headed to the library.

“What exactly do you want here?” Zion asked me, and I shrugged.

“A book that explicitly explains the theory on beasts, and also a book that documents the richest people in the kingdom. And anyone that has a compilation of land owners.” I said, and he shrugged.

“Gonna tell me what you need them for?”

“History class. I need it for extra credits since Seth supposedly failed several courses.” I sighed, lying with ease. “I just want to keep my head up here.”

“I've got you then.” Zion responded, and we got to work.

We began picking out books. It was really hard finding anything that wasn't purely fiction, even in the space allocated to just historical books.

We eventually found all three books as needed. I went through all the necessary procedures to borrow them from the library.

I made a promise to Franklin to save him, and that's exactly what I'd do.

“If it isn't Seth, the unwanted bastard!” Lincoln, Thane's best friend, called. There was a very high pitched mockery that came with how he called my name.

I turned back angrily, holding on to my bag carefully. Thane was nowhere around him, which meant he was probably powerless without him.

“You son of a bitch!” I snapped angrily, growling at him.

“What? You want to beat me?” He mocked me, clapping his hands.

“You're just a good for nothing bully!” I snapped.

“So, are you challenging me?” He snapped, and students gathered round immediately.

I was shocked by the number of people that could surround us in less than three seconds, all because of a possible fight. One that I could not engage myself in.

“Answer me! You timid fuckass boy!” He growled.

“I have better things than to challenge a failure like you!” I hissed.

Lincoln swung his fist, and I barely dodged it. It missed me by seconds.

“Fight! Fight!! Fight!!!” The students cheered, and I could already see how badly fucked I'd be if we ever fought.

Lincoln immediately shifted to his huge black wolf. I was not huge in physical size, but my wolf was far better than I was.

I also shifted to avoid losing face. Many were in awe at the sight of my navy blue wolf, with white stripes all around. I glared at Lincoln’s blue eyes with my golden eyes.

We growled at each other, but none charged at the other. We were preparing to claw each other, but were also checking for the best way to do it. The students all around us cheered louder until Thane came with a towel.

“Lincoln, stop this madness!” He ordered holding the towel out. “Now!” He snapped, and Lincoln shifted back to his human state, covering himself with the towel.

They all now looked at me, waiting for me to shift, but I couldn't. No matter how fast I was, with wrapping a towel around my body, they'd see my breast, and my absence of a penis.

“Shift.” Someone said.

“Holy fuck!” I thought to myself.
