Chapter 2

It’s already been 3 years since Clementine, our boss, disappeared. Luckily, Dash did not abandon us and he’s taking over her position, but he and Wolf had changed over those past 3 years. I understand them because their friend was kidnapped.

By the way, you can call me Pi, as in the mathematical symbol of 𝝅. I am currently 30 years old and I’ve been Clementine’s assistant since she started to work here. She was able to become our boss because I felt great power coming from her. I am the previous head of our guild, but I pass it on to her because she deserves that position that she’s longing for when we first met.

I knocked on the door of Clementine’s office, then entered the room.

“Dash, we have just received a report from the Grand Duke of Whistleton to gather more evidence about the orphanage that the Baroness of Blaire has been running for 9 years, and he will wait for our report in 3 days,” I said as I handed him the letter from the Duke. Dash is now 11 years old and if Clementine’s here, she would be also 11 years old now.

We’ve been in contact with him for some time now because he knows that there’s something wrong with the orphanage, but he needs more evidence to shut down the orphanage and punish the Baroness and the Baron of Blaire.

“Give this to the Grand Duke, all of the evidence is there, so tell him to double the pay because we finished it before the set date,” Dash said without looking at me and while handing me the compiled paper of evidence.

“I will deliver this to the Duke,” I replied.

“What about Clementine? Any news about her whereabouts?” he asked.

“We’re sorry Dash, but there’s no news yet… even our best spy can’t find where the boss is,” I said while bowing down.

“Queen wouldn’t like it if you bow your head to us who’s younger than you, so raise your head and continue the search… and call for Wolf, I need to know if he gathered some information from that man that we caught,” Dash said emotionlessly.

“I will tell him,” I said before leaving the room. As I went downstairs, I saw Gilbert running  towards my direction.

“Why are you running?” I asked.

“I know where the queen is… we need to let the acting master know this,” he said.

“Where is she?” I asked.

“We gather some information that she’s being held under the ocean and the passageway to that place is in this map,” he said as he showed me the rolled paper. I opened it, then closed it again.

“Deliver this to the Grand Duke of Whistleton and tell him that our boss ordered for him to pay double the original price, if he’s not going to agree, don’t give him the papers… additionally, call Wolf at the training grounds right now and tell him to go straight to the office,” I instructed.

“Right away, Pi,” he said, then he came running down the stairs.

I went back to the office and barged in.

“I’m sorry for barging in, but Gilbert found the queen’s whereabouts,” I said. Dash immediately looked at me and stood up.

“Then let’s go to Wolf and rescue our boss,” he said, then we exit the room and we meet Wolf halfway to see him.

“Where did they take her?” Wolf asked. By the way, Wolf and Dash are not their real names, it’s just their code names to hide their identity, but anyone who works in this guild knows their identity that’s why no one dared to offend them.

“It’s the northern territory’s ocean… According to the map that Gilbert gave me, she’s under the ocean and the secret passageway is found through the Baron of Blaire’s mansion,” I said.

“That Baron… they’ll pay if something bad happens to Clementine,” he said, then both of them disappeared. I guess I need to prepare for the execution of the Barron’s Family, and for that to happen, I need the Grand Duke’s help.

—-

“Hey Dash, do you think that she would forget about us?” Wolf asked me.

“I don’t know, but let’s just hope that she still remembers us since it’s only been 3 years,” I replied. You can call me Dash for now, when the right time comes, I will reveal my true identity to everyone, but right now, that is not our priority. Our priority is to save our queen, my queen.

“There’s the Baron’s house,” he said, then we landed on the roof.

“Do you know where the path towards the ocean is?” he asked me.

“Use your power dumbass… your power is stronger in a place like this… a cold weather, remember? That’s why she’s refraining you from taking any mission especially if we don’t know what might be the sudden change of the weather in that place,” I said.

“Okay, okay… you don’t have to call me a dumbass,” he said, then he closed his eyes. A cold wind formed and surrounded us.

“This little snow storm will take us to her, I’m glad that my body still remembers her power,” he said, then it started moving.

After a few minutes, we were able to land in the place  where Clementine is.

“My eyes were not wrong… she does hold a strong power… we can use this to destroy the unity between our empire and the Hail Kingdom,”

we heard the Baron’s voice.

“She has such a strong power within her, that’s why she’s not yet dead after 3 years of extracting her power,”

we heard someone’s voice, but it’s quite familiar.

“Make sure that you will kill her afterwards because her true identity will hinder my plan,” I will, Your Grace.

“I’m sorry, my dear, but your power is essential to us… it is a miracle that you survived after 3 years, but this day will be the end of your life… see you later, our beautiful doll,” we heard the Baron say. We also heard him coming towards our direction. That's why we hide by lifting ourselves using our power to fly. When we saw that they were already far from the entrance, we entered it and saw Clementine.

Both of her hands are chained in the opposite direction, and both of her feet are also chained. Her clothes were torn apart and when I saw her eyes, it felt like she had no soul. I clenched my fist to calm myself. Wolf helped her by destroying the chains, then he slowly put her down on the ground. I ran towards her, then carried her.

“Clementine, can you hear me?” I asked her, but she did not answer.

“Clementine!” I shouted and she looked at me with her lifeless eyes.

“You’re fine now, you can rest… everything will be alright now,” I said, then I saw her close her eyes.

“Let’s go,” I said.

“To where? You seem to be trying to teleport,” Wolf asked.

“To my place… we will go to my place, she can recover there,” I said.

“But if you do that, your parents will know what you’re doing,” he said.

“Clementine needs treatment right now… I don’t care if they’ll forbid me to go outside after this, but if it can help her recover, then I will do it,” I firmly said. He hesitantly looked at me, then sighed in the end.

“I will help you,” he said, then he put his right hand on my left shoulder, then we teleported.

“Bring us the physician, now!” I said, then we ran towards my room. When we reached my room, I laid her on my bed, then Wolf pulled the rope beside my bed. After a few minutes, my maid entered together with the physician.

“Prepare a bath for this lady and Sir. Mike, please check her condition,” I ordered.

“Right away, your highness,” they replied, then the maid started to prepare for Clementine’s bath while the doctor went near us, then he checked her condition. While they’re doing their job, I went towards my balcony, and used the guild’s bird to give them the report that we are now in my place and that we will be back once Clementine gets better and a few more instructions on what to do.

“Son! We heard that you called for our physician, what happened?” mom asked, who just barged in my room together with my father. I walked towards them, then greeted them.

“Stop with the greetings, tell us what happened? Did you get hurt?” dad asked me.

“I’m okay, but she is not okay,” I said, then I pointed my index finger towards Clementine who’s being examined by our physician.

“Who is she?” mom asked as we went near Clementine.

“She’s Clementine… and just by looking at her, you know where she belongs, right?” I said.

“There’s no doubt, but we won’t still be sure, unless we saw her eyes,” dad replied while examining Clementine.

“I finished examining the lady, your highness,” the physician said.

“What's wrong with her?” I asked.

“Her physical condition is not goood due to the torture that she recieved and I think that she tried to escape because of how many bruise marks that I can see in her body… another thing, I can’t say that she’ll be mentally okay,” he said.

“What do you mean by her mental health?” Wolf asked.

“The lady received too much beating and feeling her power, it’s already weak… some young children who experienced continuous abuse tend to close themselves… they tend to separate their mind and their physical body so that they wouldn’t feel anything when the beating happens again,” he replied. I clenched my fist as I got angrier.

“Son, control your emotions… you’ll end up burning our place if you don’t calm down,” dad said, then I tried to calm down.

“Your highness, it’s ready,” the maid earlier said.

“Clean her, then change her clothes too, use my older sister’s clothes when she was young as a change of clothes,” I ordered.

“Yes, your highness,” she replied, then went out to ask one of her colleagues to fetch my older sister’s clothes.

“I need to meet with the Duke of Whistleton… I hope that he already caught the Baron and the Baroness,” I said.

“What do you mean?” dad asked.

“The Baron of Blaire is the reason for her to be in that state… I will never forgive those who will hurt my queen,” I said as I exited the room.

“Cole, guard the lady that I bought in my room and make sure that nothing bad will happen to her,” I ordered my personnel knight, Cole.

“I will devote my life to her, your highness,” he replied while kneeling.

“You should because she’s my queen,” I said before completely leaving.

“It’s a good thing that your parents did not ask where you found her and how you found her,” Wolf said.

“I guess that’s because they’re focused on determining her true identity rather than knowing where I found her,” I replied.

“So? Where do you plan to go now?” he asked me.

“To Duke Whistleton… I will be the one to torture that Baron,” I said, then I teleported, in front of the Grand Duke’s gate.

“Where’s the Grand Duke?” I said.
