I heard my room door open but I didn't turn around to see who it was.

Soon enough, my bed dipped and someone put his arm around my waist.

I sighed in relief as Matteo pulled me against his body.

For a few seconds, we just lay there silently until Matteo broke it. "What happened to your laptop, baby?"

Fuck. I had forgotten about that. Now, I had to add that to the list of things I needed to buy. "My hand slipped. Sorry." I didn't know what I was apologizing for but I was still in my head about my mother.

"It's okay, love. I'll get you a new one."

I didn't have the energy to argue with him on that and I had also learned that arguing with Matteo was useless. When he put his mind to something, there was no stopping him. He had put his mind to spoiling me with his money and there was nothing I could do about it. He said it was his love language.

"Rowan also wanted to come," Matteo spoke again when we had been silent for too long. He probably thought I was thinking a
