Chapter 6: Memories

BETH

I wake up to the sunshine through my curtains.

I get up grab my phone and head to the bathroom.

I put on some music, and got into the shower.

About to finish my shower when I heard a ping from my phone.

I quickly get out, look at my phone and it's a notification from I*******m.

I open I*******m and look at the dm.

He sent me a number, with a little message.

The messages asked if I wanted his number so we could text. Of course I wanted his number then I replied, "What is your name?".

I sat my phone down so I could dry off and get dressed.

Then like clock work another ping from I*******m.

He asked, "What is your name beautiful?" I began to blush then replied.

"My name is Elisabeth Rose Freeman ,but everyone calls me Beth", I messaged back.

He then replied, "Vladius Lee Sinclair, nice to meet you Beth".

I then in return sent my number to him.

I finished getting ready for the day.

I was planning on cleaning up my dorm room.

Then I started in my bathroom, the tooth paste on the mirror and sink.

I also put away my makeup and wiped the countertop.

Scrubbed the toilet and shower.

I noticed the laundry basket that still had the clothes and sheets in it folded everything then I started putting everything away.

I grabbed all the dirty clothes that were on the floor and put them in the basket, so I took them to the community laundry room.

I began doing my laundry separating whites and colors, as I began my phone pinged.

It was a message from my girlies group text, "Whose hungry?".

I was getting pretty hungry, but I had to finish my laundry.

See if you leave your laundry someone might steal your clothes.

I remembered it like it was yesterday, my first year here as a freshman, I brought my laundry down to do it.

Then, I got a message from my mom that she wanted to talk.

So, I went to my dorm room for some peace and quiet.

I called my mom on my cell phone.

She finally picked up, "Honey we need to talk, but I need you to take a flight home."

I didn't like the tone in her voice, it was like she was hiding something from me.

So, I told her, "Sure I will be flying home in a few days."

Then she said, " No, I need you to come home a lot sooner than that." So, I got a bag packed and called a taxi.

I arrived at the airport a few moments later, then bought a ticket.

I boarded the flight, I was sitting in my seat and pulled out a book my father bought me that I hadn't gotten around to reading yet, at some point I fell asleep.

*I was suddenly, awoken by the flight attendant. She informed me that we had arrived at Fort Worth International Airport. I jumped out of my skin and grabbed my carry on bag. I rushed off the plane, I made it to the airport lobby where I found my mother waiting. She had a look on her face that I had only seen one time in my life, the morning I left here for college in New York. I ran up to her and gave her a big hug. I would never admit that I actually missed her being away for a few months. She slowly grabbed my hand and guided the both of us to the doors to leave the airport. Once we arrived at the car I opened the backside door of the passenger door and placed my carry on in the back seat. Then I closed the door, got into the front passenger side seat. Mom was already in the car, she seemed very quiet which was unlike her normal bubbly self.*

*We passed by the street of the house I grew up in. I became overwhelmingly confused, I turned to look at Mom she didn't even look in my direction. I started to realize that we were heading towards the hospital, I had no idea as to why we were heading there. We pulled into the parking garage, and we parked the car. Mom gets ready to get out of the car, but before opening the door to get out. She turned to me and said, "Your dad is here, it's not good". She turns to the door opens it and gets out. I sit there for a minute in conclusion, then all of a sudden my door is open. I turned to see my mother looking at me, waiting for me to get out of the car. I unbuckled my seat belt, and started to get out of the car. I think I am going a mile a minute trying to figure out why my dad is here at the hospital. He was over the seas fight for our country two months ago.*

*We enter the elevator and head to the coma floor, my dad is in a coma. As we arrived at a stop the elevator doors opened, we walked out of the elevator to the desk. A woman is sitting there looking at a computer and flipping between a pile of papers. My mom spoke to the woman, she looked up from the mound of papers and pointed to a door. The door opens up there's a long hallway, we start walking in the direction of the door. The whole time we are walking down the hallway my mind is racing The heart is pounding so fast, I think it's about to pop out of my chest. We arrive at a door, my mom reaches for the handle then opens the door. As I stare ahead I see my dad, there are all kinds of wires going in all different directions. We began to walk into the room, I felt tears going down my cheeks. I have never seen my dad like this and never imagined I would see him.*

*I walk over and stand next to the bed, I can't stop looking at him like that. My mom was talking to the doctor, she turned to me and said she would be right back. They both walk out and shut the door, a few minutes later my mom walks back in. She reaches me in seconds and gives me a hug, while tears stream down her face. I finally worked up the courage to ask her what was going on. She tells me, " Your father is never going to wake up again, he is dying". I let go of my mother and hugged my dad. She turned to me and said, "They are going to have to pull the plug, so this is your time to say your goodbyes to your dad".*

I heard my phone ping again, which brings me back to the previous time line.

I look at my phone, just in time to see that my girlies want to go to a diner.

We had never been there, it is on my bucket list to try all the foods here before returning home or maybe I get a job here and an apartment here.

I still haven't made up my mind after losing both of my parents.
