Chapter 3

The next day

They had breakfast together as usual, it rained every morning, but it wasn't as heavy as yesterday. The way she eats her food, her mother makes soup and it refreshes her throat very much, her body feels warm and she feels better. Her mother is really good at cooking. All the dishes she makes are delicious.

"Cara, you have to remember, your heat cycle is coming in 6 days, have you asked your boss for permission to take the day off?" her mother said.

"Yes, I have asked my boss for permission, I have to go before it's too late" Cara said.

"Don't forget to take the blocker your father gave you" her mother said.

"Yes mom, bye i love you" Cara got up from her chair and approached her mother and kissed her, she also hugged her sister before leaving.

That morning the streets were very busy, maybe because it wasn't raining as hard as yesterday, that's why many of them wanted to walk. As she was walking, she suddenly saw a man, a man she seemed to have met before, but she forgot where she saw the man.

The man walked towards her, she could see his face clearly, but when he passed by Cara, Cara's eyes widened, her whole life, as long as she inhaled various kinds of scent, only this time, she really liked that scent. It smells like wood and musk in one. A fragrance that can calm her mind. She turned her head to look at the man.

But it didn't take long for the scene to last, Cara regained consciousness from her reverie and continued on her way to the coffee shop. But when she got there, she just focused on her work and forgot about the man's face, the scent also slowly disappeared from her nose.

"Hey what's wrong with you? You look like you're daydreaming" Gemma said.

"Gemma, I met an Alpha before coming here, she passed by me, I seem to have seen him before, but I forgot where I met him, I'm sure he's never been here, I must have met him somewhere else--"

"So what do you want to convey?" Gemma said.

"For the first time, I feel calm when I smell someone's scent, it smells like wood and musk in one"

"Wait, wood and musk in one? Are you seriously smelling that scent?" Gemma said and Cara just nodded.

"Eric once told me that an Alpha's scent is different, just like an Omega's, but the Alpha's scent is more of a natural scent. Many have a seawater scent or a scent like the smell of rain hitting the ground, that's weird, but that's what Eric say"

"Did he say anything else? I mean, what's the difference from them?"

"He just said that not all Alpha and Omega meet because they smell each other's scent, even though that can indeed make them crazy and addicted, but if you want to know whether he is your mate or not, just look into his eyes, if he is crazy about your scent and his eyes turn red, that means he's your mate"

"His eyes turned red?"

"Yeah, I've never seen Eric like that because I don't have a scent, he can't be crazy about my scent even though he's already crazy about my body"

"Gemma, are you crazy? What do you mean?"

"Come on Cara, that's something everyone would do in life including you"

"I don't understand" Cara said.

"Cara, are you serious? Sex? Do you know about sex? Maybe Alpha and Omega only do mating when he marks you, but it's the same as sex, only if your Alpha has marked you, be prepared, he will do knotting and you will get pregnant soon "

"What? No, I won't let that happen".

"You idiot! Of course you have to do it, that's life, there's a customer, serve him, I'll clear the table first" Gemma left Cara stupidly.

During lunch time, their coffee place is packed with so many people, they do get a little hard at certain hours. It makes them work harder so as not to keep customers waiting long for their orders.

Then the sound of the door rang again, indicating a new customer had entered and Cara immediately turned towards the door to welcome the customer, but her eyes widened. She was the man she had just told Gemma that morning.

He stood in front of Cara who was at the cashier replacing Gemma at that time.

"What coffee recommendations at this place?" The man said, his voice cold. He didn't even look at Cara when he spoke, he just focused on the menu in front of him.

"Isn't there a recommended menu in this place?" The man spoke again but this time he turned to Cara.

"Ah i'm sorry, of course we have coffee recommendations, do you like machiato?" cara said.

"Give me anything" The man said, they were very close, she really liked the man's scent. It made her heart flutter.

After that, Cara approached Gemma to ask her to make the man's order.

"What's wrong with you? Is he very handsome? You keep daydreaming looking at his face" Gemma said.

"Gemma, he is the man I told you this morning, his scent really comforts me. Give me your hand" Cara pulled Gemma's hand and brought it to her chest.

"Do you feel it? My heart flutters when I smell the scent, is this a good thing? Or is it the other way around?"

"Have you put on your blocker yet?" Gemma said then gave the man's order to Cara.

"Yes of course, why?"

"We don't know the answer if he can't smell your scent, but now deliver this order to him, don't make him wait" Gemma said.

Cara also doesn't know why she feels like that, all her life she has just felt her heart like that, like she's running a marathon.

She took his coffee order and brought it to his table, she placed the coffee on the table and smiled at him before leaving, the man looked very cold, he also looked very quiet, he was only busy with his phone when Cara came to give his coffee.

It didn't take long for the man to finish his coffee order, he immediately left after finishing it. Cara didn't have time to watch the man leave because she had several customers to serve.

Many Alphas came as customers, but no one made Cara like that, their scent wasn't as good as that guy's. Cara doesn't know what happened to her nose.

It was 5 pm, time for Cara and Gemma to close their coffee shop, yes their coffee shop doesn't open late, the reason is simple because the night is a dangerous condition and the owner doesn't want to be responsible to the waiterss if something bad happens to them.

After closing the coffee shop they parted ways, Gemma went to the nearest bus stop and Cara walked back to her house. In fact, this activity make Cara bored, because that was all she did every day. She never goes anywhere other than her house and coffee shop.

"I'm home" Cara said, she entered her house, but didn't see her mother and sister. She went to her mother's room and knocked on the door, but there was no answer from inside. Cara decided to open her mother's door and saw her mother answering the phone, turning her back on her. She decide to closed the door back to his mother's room and went up to the room.

She walked into her room and plopped down on the bed closing her eyes. She was tired because that day a lot of customers came to her coffee place. She also thought about the man she met this morning. The man was indeed handsome, even very handsome for Cara.

"Cara, are you in there?" Rosie said from outside the room.

"Yes, come in" Cara said and Rosie entered the room, approached Cara on her bed.

"What's wrong with you?" Cara said.

"Nothing, I'm just bored. How was today?" Rosie said.

"Rosie.."

"Hmm"

"You can keep a secret right?" Cara said.

"Why? Did you do something?" Rosie said she lay down beside Cara.

"No, I didn't do anything, I just met someone"

"Someone? Who? A man?"

"Yeah, I met him this morning on the way to the coffee place. Strangely, when he passed beside me, his scent put me at ease. I can't describe how I felt at that moment but my heart was beating fast. my workplace, he stood over me to order coffee. His scent made me freeze, I just stared at his face, he's so handsome, but it's his scent that distracts me the most"

"What do you mean he's your mate?" Rosie said.

"I don't know, I told Gemma but since I was wearing my blocker at the time, I can't figure out the answer"

"If he really is your mate, that means you guys are missing each other" Rosie said and Cara was silent.

The statement was true, if they were indeed a pair, the universe should have brought them together that day. But they instead missed each other. Although fate will bring them together again at another time and that's for sure. But hopefully when that time comes, Cara will still be in this world.
