Chloe’s POV I finally got the jade ring. This was the key to everything. My heart raced faster due to the joy I felt at the moment I clenched it tightly in my hand as I slowly slid off the bed. This was my only chance to become Alpha. My father had put me through endless tests, each one harder than the last. He promised me the Alpha’s seat if I passed every single one. This was the final trial—the only way to prove I was worthy to lead the pack. I slipped the jade ring into my pocket, stealing a glance at the man rummaging through the drawer. Satisfaction spread across his face as he found what he was looking for. A condom. Antonio. His smile vanished the moment he saw me standing. He wasn't satisfied with me being not being on the bed. “Where are you going?” Antonio’s voice was low, dangerous. He stepped closer. “The fun’s just starting. You’re not going anywhere.” My wolf shivered inside me—weak and trembling, barely able to protect me. All I had was a little martial arts, and even that was shaky. “I—I need to use the restroom,” I stammered, forcing my hands to shake like I was scared. Innocent. That was the bait. He liked them innocent so I needed to act weak and innocent as much as I could. He closed the distance, that smile fake and cold. My fists curled at my sides. Did he know I had the ring? The ring wasn't important to him with what I had seen so far. My father always spoke about the power that ring held. But this was the first time I’d seen it with my own eyes. I have going through a lot of trainings, and now that I finally had it. I wanted to leave before he could realize. A part of me wanted to see my father being happy genuinely, and this was the last thing I could. Things aren't going to get ruined this night. His hand slid to mine, pulling me toward him with slow, cruel pressure. I wanted to hit him really hard. But I knew what would happen if I did. “You want to pee?” His eyes dropped to my chest, lingering. My corset offered no hiding. “How about holding it in and enjoying me fucking you so hard, little princess?” His finger traced my chin. His thumb brushed my lips. Sweat pricked my skin. My heart hammered in my chest. Desperate, my mind raced for a way out. My nails dug into my palm as his fingers were still on my face reminding myself to act along. “I paid the Mistress a fortune to have you,” he bragged, gripping my waist tight. Faster. My heart pounded faster. “I know,” I whispered, smiling sweetly. “I wanted you too. I’d heard stories... I wanted you to be my first.” I slid my hand around his wrist, easing it away from my waist. “But it’d be better if I freshened up first. So it’s more... exciting.” I blinked my eyes several times, pouting my lips as I let go off his wrist. His eyes darkened with desire. He swallowed the bait. He stepped aside, watching my back burn with his gaze as I walked past. “Expect me in five minutes,” I said, flashing one last wink before shutting the bathroom door. “Expect me,” my foot. --- Two Days Later “You!” My father’s voice tore through me like thunder. “I knew you weren’t worthy of becoming Alpha!” His words hit harder than any blow. “Every day I curse the Moon Goddess—why did she curse me with a daughter like you?” He paused after pacing front and back several times, obviously disappointed. "How could the ring get stolen!? Gosh." He expresses his emotions further. Tears stung behind my eyes, but I fought to hold them back. This was the angriest I’d ever seen him. “It wasn’t just me after the ring,” I said quietly. “Someone else was waiting—” “Excuses!” He snapped. “Did you really think you were the only one who wanted it? How foolish can you be? I wanted you to catch that other person. How could you let your guard down?” He rubbed his forehead, frustration plain on his face. My hands clenched the hem of my dress, biting back tears. I remembered that night clearly—how I escaped. I slipped out the bathroom window while Antonio waited in the bedroom. I ran barefoot in the rain, soaked and shivering, hiding beneath a streetshade. Right before my ride came, I bumped into someone. His scent hit me so hard, but it was too late before I could even talk with him. Mate. The bond was sudden, strong, and confusing. I didn’t see his face never expected to meet my mate that night. When I got into the car,, the jade ring was gone. When I looked back after we drove off, he was already gone. My mate had stolen the ring. I had only one clue left and it was the bond. I needed to feel it again. “What punishment do you suggest for yourself?” my father’s voice softened but grew colder. “I’m sorry, but—” “Punishment, Chloe!” He barked. “Do you think sorry is enough to fix all of these?” “Please, give me another chance.” I swallowed hard. “Everyone makes mistakes. This was my first since we started the mission rule—” “First?” He laughed bitterly. “That’s why I miss Astrid. She never failed. Sometimes I wonder why she had to die and not you.” I froze. He said it every time. Always blamed me. But he never told me what really happened to my sister. Everyone said it was suicide. He suspected otherwise but wouldn’t fight the school. I also believed my sister had killed herself. Tears finally slipped down my cheeks. Why was I the one he hated? Why was her death a weapon pointed at me? I blinked fast and pushed another set of tears that were about to fall back. “She never made mistakes. Now, can we talk about what matters? Leave Astrid out of this.” Inhaled sharply. "Do you think Astrid is going to love it if you keep on comparing her to me most times?" I questioned him. He stared like I slapped him. I stood, brushing dirt from my clothes. “Oh! Now you think you are on the same level with Astrid now, huh?” He stepped closer. “Fine. I’ll send you to that Academy. You need more training." No. Not that place. My stomach twisted at the mention of me going to the Academy. “I won’t set foot there,” I snapped, hands shaking. “Not after what happened to Astrid.” “Do I look like I care?” he scoffed. “You should!” I shouted. “You know what happened! And now you want to send me there like I’m nothing? I’m your daughter! Do you think Astrid would be proud?” It was really rare for me to stand up to him this way. I had always been scared of my father, but everything was just different this night. “I don’t care. You want me to stop comparing? Then let's see if you survive in that school.” “Then let’s make a deal.” My voice was steady now. “Give me six months. I’ll find the ring. Bring it back. If I fail, banish me. Kill me. Whatever you want.” His eyes narrowed. “Six months?” “Yes.” I held his gaze. “Just six. I won’t fail.” A long pause. Then— “Fine.” Relief flooded me. “Thank you, Dad. I swear I won’t—” “But you’ll still go to that school,” he interrupted. “This is your last chance. Fail again and I won’t protect you.” No words came. My chest tightened. He really meant what he said and he has made up his mind about it. That school took Astrid from me. Now it’s coming for me too.Chapter FourChloe’s POVI didn’t speak much when we got back to the dorm that night. Ena didn’t ask any questions. She just walked in, pulled out a pack of ice from our mini freezer, and pressed it into my hand.“Put this on your face,” she said softly.I stared at her for a second, then nodded. My cheek still burned where Anne slapped me earlier, and honestly, I was still trying to process everything. What's up with her sudden change in behavior? Was it because I stood up for he today. Ena sat on her bed, legs crossed, her eyes distant.“She’s not going to stop, you know,” she said after a while. "I had warned you not to interfere in my life. You will end up quitting."The room went silent before I decided to utter another word."I am not that weak, you know?" I slowly removed the ice pack, placing it on my legs. "I know we are omegas, but I wasn't the type to just give up easily." I made it clear to her shrugging off my hands. “She picks the weak ones. Especially Omegas. The scho
Chapter ThreeChloe's POVThe car came to a stop in front of tall iron gates. My heart pounded as I stared up at the massive banner overhead.Nightshade Academy. The driver opened the trunk and handed me my suitcase without a word. His cold expression said enough."Enjoy your stay. We’ll... pick you up during breaks. Maybe."Maybe.That was my dad’s way of saying: Don’t come back until you’re someone worth being proud of. It has been two months since everything happened, and now I'd be resuming in the school I have never thought of attending.I nodded silently and dragged my suitcase up the stone path. The place looked like something out of a dark fairytale. Gothic towers, endless forests behind the fences, magic in the air that made my skin prickle. The academy was located in the central according to people. Children from different Alpha's, Beta and Omega's all attended this school. Most of the children. It screamed power! Some were here to impress their parents just like me too. The
Chapter TwoTHE NEXT DAYChloe’s POVMy feet tapped against the floor as I waited for Ansel to pick up his damn call, but he didn’t. My sweaty hands clenched the phone tighter. I was a mess, and honestly, I was scared.I needed someone to talk to. He was the only person I could think of. Probably my best friend too. They were the two people I had trusted with my fucking life. And now I needed to tell him something important. I felt my mate bond—with some random stranger. I wasn’t ready to let go of Ansel. We’d made a deal, damn it. We promised to reject our mates if we ever found them. But ever since I bumped into that guy, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Not for a second. What if he came back for me? What if I couldn’t say no? What if everything changed?Too many fucking “what ifs.”I tried calling Riri’s number too, but same result. No answer. I needed to talk to them. I needed them to know I’d be going to Nightshade Academy. That I was falling apart. That my father had made a d
