After Felix had gone, Adrea asked Mrs Lynch to dispose of his gift as she saw fit. She never wanted to see that thing again. The older woman had nodded and picked up the jewellery box, examining the contents with admiration. Adrea did not care if she kept it, binned it, or pawned it. As long as she never saw it again, she was fine with it.

Memories of the night he had ruined her life entered her mind and she felt physically sick. She remembered that he had kissed her. She wanted to scrub her neck raw. What he had done that night… she saw it in a different light. It had been assault. Had he intended for Rafael to come when he did or had he wanted to take things further? Adrea felt a wave of fear chill her bones. She did not feel safe in this house. Rafael was gone and Felix could clearly bypass the paltry security there was.

She needed to get out. She needed to go somewhere safe. Somewhere he would never be able to find her. Somewhere where the security would not be bribed, charmed or

Please note that my chapters this month may become a little big (I saw one for 1.8k words), It is my duty to not fill them up with filler junk (cause I hate that) and keep the story moving. Thank you for your understanding. With lots of love, Ano <3

The last person... okay maybe not the last but Belinda had expected to see Rafael’s motheron her doorstep when she responded to the doorbell. But that had been just as well. She needed someone in her corner, and the sweet, sympathetic expression on the older woman’s face told her she finally had that someone. She let herself dissolve into uncontrollable tears. She did not fight as Irene pulled her in for a hug.“You poor child,” the older woman cooed into Belinda’s hair, “I should have come to see you sooner.”Belinda sniffled as she drew away from the older woman and shook her head.“No. It would have been too troublesome for you.”Rafael’s mother scoffed. “You could never be trouble if you tried.”Belinda offered the woman a rueful smile as she said, “You are too kind. Even my neighbours do not want me anymore.”“What do you mean by that?” Irene studied the younger woman’s face as if it could answer her questions.Big, fat tears spilled from Belinda’s eyes as she let out a wail.“Th

A soft knock roused Adrea from the warm cocoon of sleep. She blinked, eyelids heavy, her limbs unwilling to leave the comfort of the bed. For a second, she had no idea where she was. Then her eyes focused, and the scent of Aris’s apartment—clean linen, citrus, and something distinctly him—reminded her.The knock came again, followed by his voice.“Adrea? Breakfast in ten. Unless you want me to eat your pancakes too.”She smiled before she even realised she had. That voice, rich with mischief and subtle concern, eased some of the stiffness in her shoulders.“Coming,” she rasped back, her voice rough with sleep. She sat up slowly. The events of the day before tried to rush her all at once, but she forced herself to breathe. Not now. She’d get through this morning first. She could process everything else later. She stretched her arms above her head and caught sight of herself in the mirror. Hair in a wild tangle, eyes puffy. A slight flush from sleep lingered on her cheeks. Still, she lo

He had packed a bag and left. Adrea had learnt from the maids gossiping when they thought she was far from earshot. Her soon-to-be ex… it was weird and somehow final thinking of him like that… he had left. Had he gone to live with Belinda? Was he going back to his mother’s home? He had a penthouse apartment in a hotel… was he going to move there? It did not matter. They were going to live apart sooner or later. This house had been a gift to her from her father. She was going to sell it and use the funds to buy a different property. She wanted nothing to do with this lot. It now held one of the worst memories of her life. She still had not mustered the strength to get into what was once her and Rafael’s bedroom. She was never going to walk into that room willingly. In fact, she had half a mind to move out. There was nothing holding her here. The only thing that was stopping her from selling the property was her lawyer. The man had told her to hold on big financial moves until after Raf

  • Condemned Wife's Compliance   73. Serrated Opinions

There were mixed reviews on Adrea’s little speech. One group of people still thought that she had been coerced into doing it. Another group thought that she was saving face and/or just keeping a brave face in the face of betrayal. Some people thought that maybe the divorce story was real and wondered who had done what for it to be initiated. They did not believe that they “just agreed to divorce”; no one was buying that hogwash. Not when the couple had been seen together merely months back and had looked so in love. Sure, looks may have been deceiving, but you couldn’t fake the love the pair had shown in their eyes. There was speculation among the masses. People wanted to know about the timeline. Adrea, who had never shown signs of wanting to be in the poker world before, had now just debuted and won the Golden Aces Poker Game. They assumed that maybe the reason she had switched to poker was probably because she had found out she was cheated on. Others said maybe this was why Rafael h

  • Condemned Wife's Compliance   72. Addressing The Masses

The cameras were pointing at her and so was every eye in the room. Adrea reminded herself to breathe and not to focus on who else would be watching her when the camera was turned on and live. Her eyes strayed to Aris, who was talking to one of the guys on his team. The guy, to Adrea, felt like he was fresh out of university. He had said little to nothing but was now in charge of setting up the equipment for the livestream along with their dedicated camerawoman.Aris and the guy were looking at the screen of a laptop while Adrea was sitting in the chair in front of it. She looked down and tried to remember her speech. She needed to acknowledge that she had seen the viral situation that was her marriage. From there, she needed to address the state of her marriage and declare Belinda and Rafael innocent. She would thank everyone for fighting for her and then end the stream. Yes. That was it. She took a breath and looked up.That breath was robbed from her, as she had not expected Aris to
