Leah

The air between us grew thicker as I held his stare, the cup of coffee forgotten in my hand. His baby blue eyes were fixed on mine with confidence, and I hadn't seen them in him before.

"Do you like me?"

His answer came without hesitation. "Yes."

Heat shouldn't have crawled up my neck, but it did.

"I thought I'd made that pretty obvious by now."

I knew he was interested, but confessing he liked me was unexpected.

"I'm a divorcee with a kid," I said quietly.

"I know."

He stepped close enough for me to catch the faint scent of his cologne. "And it doesn't change anything, Leah."

My fingers tightened around the strap of my bag.

"I'm older than you."

"It doesn't matter."

"It should."

His fingers grazed my cheek. "Not to me. I've felt this way since the first day I set my eyes on you. Nothing is going to change my mind."

I looked away, my heart thudding so hard.

What are you afraid of? It's not like you are cheating?

"I don't think I can return your feelings," I muttered.

Leah"And you wonder why he doesn't tell you things.""Sam—""Don't 'Sam' me." Her voice shook with anger. "I'm the one who gets to look after your kid while you work. You didn't even bother going to school to pick him up cause you assumed I was going to. I called you ten fucking times and you didn't pick any of them. Is your work more important than your own son?"My chest tightened."You're drowning, Leah," she said quietly, "and you don't even notice you're dragging people with you."She had no idea how hard it had been for me these past years. How much effort it takes to act normal. I'm holding everything together with shaking hands, praying it doesn't all collapse one day."And your solution is that I find a man to fuck me?" I spat. "Cause that's the only thing you keep hammering in my head."She blinked, hurt flickering before anger returned. "You know what? Fuck you." She jabbed a finger at my chest before turning to grab her purse. And she made sure to slam the door behind her

LeahYou know how there is someone who has been around you all along, but you never notice them until one random day, and suddenly they are everywhere? Yeah, that was what happened with the stranger I met in the elevator. The one whose name I had already forgotten.I woke up late that morning, thanks to the man who keeps slipping into my dreams and making it impossible to sleep. I only passed out around five, thinking my alarm would wake me. Well, it didn't, and Roman had to go late to school. As I walked towards the company building, I saw the man from last night standing at the entrance. A coffee carrier dangled from one hand, and his phone was in the other. "Damn it, I forgot to get coffee," I muttered under my breath. That was the only thing that would keep me from dozing off at work.He looked up at the sound of my heels and straightened with a smile. "Good morning, boss.""Morning..." I said, slowing down as my brain scrambled for his name. This is embarrassing."Edward," he sa

Leah I couldn't focus at work. That damn drawing kept flashing in my mind. How long has Roman known about him? What else does he know? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I could still remember what he said about not wanting to bring another him into this world. And I'd told him I wasn't his mother. So why are you scared, Leah? "Baby, how was school today?" I asked, glancing at him through the rearview mirror. "Not okay," he said simply, playing with the action figure he'd left in the car that morning. "Why? What happened?" "Nothing." "Come on, sweetheart. Tell mummy what happened," I urged gently. "Nothing," he repeated. I sighed, stopping at a red light. "So... do you want to talk about your drawing?" "Nope." God, who did he get his stubbornness from? "You think it's creepy too?" He suddenly asked, looking up from his toy. That made my chest tighten. "No," I said quickly. "I don't. Did someone say that to you?" He didn't respond. "Roman." "Miss. Parker." "T

Leah"Leah," a deep voice said right as I screamed and whipped around, spraying the pepper spray straight at him."Fuck! My eyes!" My supposed stalker grunted, stumbling back and clutching his face."Oh my God, Desmond?" I gasped as I recognised the brown haired man."What the hell, Leah? Are you trying to blind me?" He glared at me through one eye, the other squeezed shut."Why the hell would you sneak up on a woman walking home alone at night?!""I called twice. TWICE!""Well, I didn't hear you!" "Why would you?" He muttered under his breath.I sighed and searched my purse for a tissue. "Here. Don't be such a drama queen."He snatched it from me, dabbing his eyes."What are you even doing here?" I asked, folding my arms, adrenaline still buzzing through my veins."Sam told me you were working late. I had practice, so I figured we could all have dinner together.""We?" I repeated, raising a brow."Yeah. You owe me one after what you just did," he said, squinting one eye open to test

Leah"Hey," he whispered.I turned my head.He was lying on his stomach beside me, his head on the pillow, watching me like he always used to.His black hair fell over his eyes. Eyes I'd spent years trying to forget. The thin scar that cut through his right eyebrow and down his cheek was still there. I used to trace it with my fingers while he slept."Did you get the life you wanted after killing me?" He asked. My heart ached. "Yes."He chuckled. "Then why do you keep bringing me into your dreams, doll?""I didn't.""I'm only here because you're thinking of me again," he murmured. "Like every other night."His hand reached for me, fingers brushing my cheek. They felt too warm, too real. His thumb pressed my bottom lip. "Leah," He said, my name in that soft, broken voice that undid me.I closed my eyes as goosebumps spread across my skin."Please," I breathed."Please, what?" His voice dropped lower. He moved closer, his breath hot on my face."Please go away.""Five years, and you
