NATHANIEL STORM

Setting my confusing reaction to Sarah Pierce aside, two things keep tugging at my heart: Shaw Clawford and Sarah’s insistence that we dated.

My soul wants to believe that the evidence is wrong, and Sarah’s constant and very serious, sometimes angry, reminder that I knew her before didn’t help.

Sure, I easily dismissed her claims as crazy talk. But my mind keeps going back to it, as if I want that crazy talk to be true. I even caught myself wondering if a DNA test would confirm Raya’s mine.

God, I really am losing it

Anyway, my grand confusion is the reason I am currently driving into my father’s compound, the sight of the huge house barely eliciting emotions from me. Growing up here was not friendly, I always felt suffocated. If anything, I am glad I found a permanent way to escape my mother’s frequent warning to move back in with them.

After parking my vehicle, a space jeep, my favourite, I headed inside after Butler Samson informed me that my father was in the d

NATHANIEL STORM“Your mother did what?” Amir queried, his cup of whiskey almost spilling off the table. We decided to have a brief discussion after the end of the second quarter meeting, which I had with other executives and department heads. Working on a Sunday already annoys the hell out of me. Add Sarah’s decision echoing in my head, and it’s worse. So, I’m a little grateful for our chat, which started because Amir was curious about the weird package Sarah messaged him about.“What can I say, Amir? My mother surprises me in the worst way.” With a determined frown, he said, “You need to do the same to her. You know, tit for tit.”I gave him a long, deadpan look. “That’s not the right phrase.”“It should be.” He shrugged. “Feels accurate.”My eyes narrowed, and I replied, “Dealing with my mother is easier said than done. Who knows what might get worse if I decide to kidnap my mother for a few hours? I am not willing to deal with that.”“She needs to pay,” he insisted. “Sarah is st

NATHANIEL STORM“Sarah,” my ragged breath returned as I glimpsed the spreading redness on her cheek, “allow me to apologise about my mother. She-”“Why is Raya wearing this?” she firmly asked as she lifted Raya onto her lap, her eyes narrowing at the blue gown. “It’s not familiar.”“I bought it.” I leaned to get a look at the emotions in her eyes. “How are you feeling?”“How do you think I feel?” She rested her head against her daughter’s and a little shaky exhale left her. That pointed an arrow of guilt at me. It is my fault she faced abduction and slaps, both verbal and physical, from my insane mother. “Sarah-”“When are we canceling the contract?” She was quite intent on interrupting me. But that question doubled the arrows pointed at me and released them into my chest. “What?” I asked, my voice barely audible.“When? I need a date.”“I was hoping we would think about that a little more.”“I made myself clear yesterday, Nathaniel.” She closed her eyes and seemed to search for

SARAH PIERCE“Is she out of her mind?” I ended up blurting out.‘Who’s there?’ Rosaline sounded spooked. ‘Sarah? I think I heard her voice.’‘You must be imagining it.’ It became undoubtedly clear that it was Mr. Storm’s voice. ‘No. I know her voice.’ Footsteps followed, a door slid open, and with an eerie chuckle, Rosaline walked closer and yanked the cloth off my head. “What the hell are you doing here?” After blinking to get used to the light in the room, I glanced to see Mr. Storm standing close to her, his walking cane supporting him.“You’re sleeping with Nathaniel’s father?” I queried, my voice weirdly hushed. “What's it to you? I asked you a question.”“You tell me. You kidnapped me and brought me here to listen to you make fuck plans with this man.”“Get off your weed, Sarah.” She eyed me. “Why would I bother myself with you?”With a scoff, I wondered aloud, “I can’t wait to find out what Nathaniel and his mother think about this…” My eyes flickered to Mr. Storm, who was q

NATHANIEL STORM“Do y-you like cartoons?” I hesitantly asked Raya, who continued to focus on her almost-finished meal. I have tried about ten statements to pique her interest, but she has refused to look at me or even speak to me. “Should I call your Mum back?”She finally reacted. With a small nod. “Okay. I will call her in.” Sarah doesn’t know that Raya and I have a little terrible history, so it was easy for her to think that leaving us to bond was a good idea. But, maybe it is. Now that it’s eighty percent certain that Raya is my daughter, I clearly have to try harder so that she accepts me. But, where’s Sarah? It’s been more than five minutes since she left.Did she end up walking more than intended?I stepped out to the porch, but she was not there, stretching and ignoring my presence as usual. As I scratched the back of my neck, I recalled that her hands were bare when she left the house. So, the chance of her being with her phone was slim. “Sarah?” I hopped to the back of

SARAH PIERCEI was looking forward to this weekend because I finally got three days of amazing sleep during the weekday. I shouldn’t have rejoiced so fast. Since yesterday night, I have tried to sleep. But, nothing. All I did all night was stare at the ceiling, listening to Raya’s soft sleep sounds, while imagining how nice it would be to work at MODAline. Then, while I tried to stop it, I ended up thinking about my conversation with Nathaniel yesterday. I hate to admit it, but I sort of like how yesterday’s talk was softer compared to the bomb that exploded in his office. But, I am slightly worried about the ear thing. It looked like he was in severe pain but he masked it before I could pry further. I wonder if that pain is linked to the things he forgot.I know I am supposed to hate him, but his memory loss changes things. A lot of things.“Mummy,” Raya stirred.“My baby,” I replied and lifted her onto my chest. “How was your night?”“I dream about Mama Kus.”As I gently detang

  • Contract With The Ex That Left Me   Bloody mess

NATHANIEL STORMWhile Sarah’s anger rightfully burdened my heart, I praised myself for not uttering the wrong words and ruining our fragile moment. And all was going fairly well until she firmly told me that there was no we. My body began to react, just like it did when I saw the first picture evidence of our relationship. Thankfully, she faced away, so I was able to hide as the painful ringing in my ear threatened to split my head apart. She mustn’t see me this way. I must leave before that happens. As my shaky feet slowly turned, she said something, but it was muddled. Not being able to hear her voice irritated my soul, and I decided that experiencing the pain twice was enough reason to demand a solution at the hospital.“Nathaniel!” I suddenly heard her again, this time, worry filled her tone and I felt her hand briefly touch my back. While pinching my eyes to fabricate a smile and pretend that my head wasn’t still splitting, I stood straight and said, “Sorry, you said?”“What was
