Lily's POV
Did I hear well? Or was I imagining things?“What?!” I turned to look at Mr William. The seriousness in his eyes told me he wasn't joking but I still found it hard to believe.William sighed and relaxed more into his chair and said, “It’s going to be a marriage contract between me and you, you become my wife and conceive my child and I'll cater for your every need”This was too surreal, too good to be true that I had to ask, “Why? I am no use to you and we are not of the same class”“You shouldn’t be worried about that, that's my problem. All I need is for you to act like my wife in front of everyone and convince them well enough. Are you willing?” If his face wasn't so serious, I would have really thought this was just a prank.A fake marriage with a billionaire… What games was fate playing? Is this what it means to have struck gold?I wouldn't have had too many problems with the idea except that… “Urmm, I have a five year old son, he has been diagnosed with down syndrome” I spoke up about my condition. The only person that mattered to me was my son, if he didn't want him then the deal was off without second thoughts… my son goes where I go.Mr William shrugged casually with batting an eyelid, “It’s no problem, he will be well taken care of and given the best medical care”I released a breath and nodded, “In that case, I have no objections, I agree to the deal” it all sounded crazy when I heard myself but it was really happening. It was just yesterday that I was calculating how to work overtime to buy some essentials for August and today I was signing a contract with a billionaire, some supreme being must be working for my favor.“Great, my lawyer will prepare the papers so you can sign. I would love to introduce you to my family as my wife to be” William's face turned brighter at my answer and he said.“Oh, right now?” I stammered in surprise. Why was he in such a hurry?“Well yes, if you are not busy. You and your son will have to move in with us” he answered.I glanced at the Manager who had been watching quietly and he nodded with a smile, “Don’t worry about work, you are dismissed” he said.I snickered and returned my gaze to William, “Okay but I would have to pack and get my son, will you be able to wait Mr William?” I asked.“Sure, no problem. And please call me William or just Will” he replied as he stood up.I nodded and and stood up as well, we greeted the Manager goodbye before I followed Will to his car. The drive to my house was awkward, I was still getting used to this marriage contract of a thing and Will's intimidating presence made me shy. Soon we arrived at my house in a few minutes because it wasn't that far from my workplace, it was a one room shabby apartment.“Do you need help?” He asked when I got out of the car.“No, I don't have much anyways” I replied then walked into the building alone. I really didn't have much so in about 20 minutes I was done packing me and my son's belongings into a medium sized luggage, I rolled it out and Will helped me put it in the boot of the car.“Now, I have to go get my son. Please wait here, he's just across the street” I said before walking away to the building opposite mine. I usually left him there for the nurse to babysit while I was at work because of his condition.August was a happy child despite his condition, he was so happy to see me when I arrived at the place, the thought of him finally having a better life brought tears to my eyes. I picked him up and hugged him so passionately and he hugged me back too.“Hey, baby, how are you? Did you have fun today?” I asked him with a warm tone.“Yes!” he cheered and laughed, my heart warmed in an instant. I always wanted him to be happy every time because he was everything good in my world.“Awesome! Come on, let's go to our new home” I said after saying goodbye to the nurse. I began walking to William's waiting car and when I got there, I gently put him inside the backseat of the car and sat beside him.“We can go now” was all I said and William grunted in reply. I noticed he was staring at us from the mirror so I looked away. I didn't like the pity looks I got when people stared at me and my son.A second later the engine roared to life and we began our journey to a new chapter in our lives.***Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the Carter Mansion. It was even more majestic and beautiful than the pictures on the internet, it definitely didn't do enough justice. I had to consciously remind myself to close my mouth because it kept dropping in shock. We got out of the car and together with August, we stepped into the building. The inside was ridiculously more beautiful than the outside even when I thought nothing could beat the majestic outside look. It was brightly lit with chandeliers and everything screamed expensive, they would definitely cost a fortune. This time I couldn't stop my mouth from falling open, I was completely lost in the beauty of such an estate. I guess the family owning the best real estate company in the country was true, their family house was the best example of what they could do.“Eww, what are beggars doing in our house?” The unfamiliar voice pulled me out of my thoughts and then I heard footsteps of heels clicking.CHAPTER FIFTY-THREEDamien’s POVI love when I set out to do one evil deed and a free opportunity to do more presents itself. I came today with no plan; all I wanted was to disturb Will’s peace a little, remind him I am still alive, and maybe remind Aria that she said she would help me inherit the company. But then heaven blessed me, and I found August outside. The boy had run to me, calling me daddy. I watched in amusement as he hugged my legs, giggling, then looked up and frowned.“You are not my daddy,” he said, puzzled.“No, I am not,” I replied with a sly smile.August giggled again. “But you look so much like him. I thought you were him.”“No,” I said, shaking my head. “But,” I continued “We are brothers.”I was amused that Lily’s son called Will's father. Lily sure knows how to make people take responsibility for things they did and did not do, just like she made me pay for... our incident. Now, she has Will playing daddy for August and her so-called unborn child, whom we are
CHAPTER FIFTY-TWOLily’s POVWill and I had successfully avoided work for an entire week, and Aria had been planning creative ways to kill me. But with Will always on my mind, I found it hard to care. Will thought I didn’t know what he was doing when he ‘accidentally’ locked my room door and lost the key, or when the maid ‘mistakenly’ dropped my laundry in his room. I didn’t say anything about it. I liked it. I liked to pretend I wanted my room, but if Will ever asked me to go to my room, I would die. Literally, I would fall and die.It was 10:32 AM on a Sunday, and August was free today. Will had his therapy session canceled so we could all go out as a family.I gently disentangled myself from Will’s body and quietly climbed down from the bed. I threw on one of Will’s shirts because I was too lazy to go to my room or find my clothes in his second drawer.Tying my hair into a messy bun, I walked out of the room to spend a little time with August alone, something that was hardly possib
CHAPTER FIFTY-ONEWill’s POVI don’t blame Aria for hating Lily. She is right. Lily is good for me.Should I be dressed and ready to go to work? Yes.Do I need to go to work? Yes.Am I dressed and ready to go to work? No.Will I go? Hell no!I had called Toby again to tell him I wasn't going to make it to work. My excuse? I’m sick. Was I sick? No, but I would be if I didn’t taste Lily one more time. Lily had excused herself to go back to her room to get dressed. I’ll have to get her things brought here, or if she likes her room so much, I can move to it. It doesn’t matter, but all this separate room nonsense is not going to work.“You’re not dressed?” Lily asked, barging into my room to pick up clothes she left in my bedroom.“No,” I said, grinning.“What?” She asked, stopping to look at me. “Why are you staring at me like that?”“I like the way you entered my room like it’s yours.”Nothing can replace the pleasure of seeing Lily blush as she quickly disappeared into the bathroom to p
CHAPTER FIFTYLily POVIt was Monday morning, and I woke up to small kisses being trailed along my neck. I groaned and sank deeper into the feel of Will.It is Monday morning and after what could only be described as the best weekend in history, I do not want to wake up let alone go to work.“Open your eyes, Lily,” Will growled. “I know you are awake.”I did not open my eyes. I did not want to open my eyes. Maybe if I keep my eyes closed long enough, I would be able to keep him here in bed with me throughout the day.“Can we not just stay?” I groaned.“Of course we can, we can stay as long as you want but that would only give Aria more reasons to hate you and make the papara—Will didn’t get any other words out as I brought my lips to his kissing him gently. Will sighed into the kiss and wrapped his arms around my back and my neck drawing me deeper in. God, I’d missed this—it had only been hours, but I missed it already. I missed feeling like we were both going to lose it if we did no
Damien’s POV“You foolish man, I thought getting drunk was my thing,” Lyon said. He had been scolding me and telling me things I did not care for.He is right though, getting excessively drunk is his thing, not mine. He was leading me to the car so we could go home I suppose.“I do not want to go home.” I slur.“I am sure. Your wife will kill you if you go home like this.” Lyon said and laughed loudly. “I thought you said you were a changed man? Change my ass man.”“Oh shut the fuck up.”Lyon laughed again and retrieved the car key from my pocket.“shit.” He cursed. “You have to stand on your own, wait while I go get the key, I think you left it on the table we used.”Immediately Lyon left me I fell flat on my butt drawing unwanted attention and Lyon's unwarranted laugh. He left me there struggling with no success to get back on my feet. He came back a minute later with the key. “Remind me to never let you drink this much ever again,” he said helping me into the car.“Fuckkk-you,” I sa
Lily's POVOne day, I would rip out my heart and throw it away. It had made it its life mission to always embarrass me when it came to William Carter. I couldn't even pretend to act cool and composed around him, especially when I was this close to him. The only thing giving me comfort was the fact that our heartbeats were synchronized, and I could hear his heart too.He was sniffing my neck, nuzzling his nose against it, and gently running his hand from my neck to my waist consistently. I wondered why. Before, when he was just a client, he would quickly go straight to the point. He made sure I was comfortable first, yes, but there was hardly any cuddling or sniffing.“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this,” he said.“Sniff me?” I had long ditched the thought that I would have any composure or class when it came to Will. My voice sounded like I was struggling to breathe, let alone talk, and that couldn’t be closer to the truth. Will chuckled. His voice was low, lower than us
