Chapter 3

Maya’s POV

The photograph of Alpha Dante burnt into my memory like a curse I couldn't escape.

Sebastian's father.

They had the same chiseled jawline and the same intense eyes, but where Sebastian was reckless and carefree, Dante looked powerful and dangerous.

“I can't take this job.” I said, passing the envelope back to the man who gave it to me.

He only smirked. “You’re really going to say no?”

“Yes.” I replied defiantly.

“You’ll have money, freedom, a new life, and…” He leaned forward. “a chance to ruin Sebastian from the inside.”

The air felt colder than it already was. Sleep with the enemy? Manipulate him? Use him the same way his son used me?

The answer came easily when I thought about the video. Loretta's smiling face, Sebastian's lies, my entire world crumbling down.

I couldn't continue this fight for survival. I had to start living again, and to do that, if I had to seduce Alpha Dante, it was the only way… then so be it.

A week later, I started working at Hotel Stone, one of the most luxurious hotels in the city.

I wore a black uniform and heels that pinched my toes. I had been trained for weeks to blend in, smile when necessary, and serve discreetly. The pay was ten times what I made at the bar, yet nothing could prepare me for the moment I would see him in person.

Alpha Dante entered the hotel lobby like he owned the very ground it was built on.

Dante wasn't just handsome. He was sculpted, refined, and dangerously out of my league. He was the kind of man you'd see on the cover of Vogue.

Even as he sat, he towered over me. His broad shoulders and chiseled physique were honed from years of training and leading the Blood Moon pack. His raven-black hair was neatly trimmed, framing his sharp jawline. His tailored black suit accentuated his powerful build, a crisp white shirt and necktie completing his elegant look.

His gaze landed on me, and he didn't blink.

His silver eyes raked over me like he was trying to place where he saw me.

My throat tightened.

“Go and serve him.” My supervisor whispered, nudging me forward.

I approached Dante's table in the VIP lounge, nerves raking up my spine.

“Good evening, Alpha,” I began in a smooth voice. “May I take your order?”

He tilted his head slightly. “Have we met before?”

I kept my voice steady as I lied. “No, sir.”

“Hmmm,” he hummed. “But you look familiar.”

“Maybe I just have one of those faces.” I smiled thinly, praying he'd stop asking me that question, but the man didn't look convinced.

A few seconds passed before he spoke finally. “Whiskey, neat, and keep them coming. I had a terrible day.”

I nod. “Alright, sir.”

I left and returned with his order, placed it in front of him, and turned to leave.

“Stay,” he said.

I turned back slowly. “Sorry?”

“Be my server tonight,” he continued, his eyes never leaving mine. “I want you and no one else.”

I hesitated before nodding finally. “Of course, sir.”

Over the next hour, I served Alpha Dante, refreshing his drink and exchanging small talk. Slowly, his guard began to soften.

“What's your name?” he asked.

“Maya Sinclair.” I lied.

“Where are you from?”

“Nowhere special.” I lied again.

“Any families?”

I swallowed. I didn't have to lie for this one. “I grew up an orphan.”

He frowned. “I didn't know they let Omegas into schools.”

“They don't actually,” I swallowed, finding it strange that I'm telling him the truth this time. “I… got in on a full scholarship.”

He grinned, looking impressed. “So…what are you doing here?”

“I fell in love with the wrong person, and it cost me my scholarship.” I said bitterly.

His jaw clenched. “Who was he?”

“Doesn't matter.”

Dante's gaze turned colder. “It does. Men who betray their lovers should be put down.”

I nearly laughed. The man in question is your son.

I shook my head and sighed.

By the time we were done talking, Dante was on his fourth drink, and I wasn't far behind. He had tipped me with champagne, and I'd taken a few sips just to ease the nerves. I shouldn't have, but his voice… his eyes… The way he looked at me made something loose within me.

Around midnight, my supervisor came over. “He's not getting up anytime soon. Take him to the penthouse. Use the VIP elevator.”

I nodded and turned to Dante, watching me with hooded eyes.

“You're beautiful, you know that?” He said, his voice slurred.

I swallowed. “Come on. Let's get you upstairs.”

I slid my arm over his shoulder and hoisted him to his feet.

While we rode the elevator, I prayed I'd get everything done and just leave.

However, with Dante slumped against me, his breath fanning my neck, I was struggling.

“Thank you, Maya.” He murmured.

I looked at him. “For what?”

“For listening.”

I didn't answer.

When we got to the penthouse, I helped him inside and dropped the key on the dresser. He shrugged off his jacket and slumped on the bed.

“You can go if you want,” he said, uncertainty heavy in his voice.

My pulse pounded. I was supposed to think, but I didn't; instead, I acted.

I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his.

Dante shoved me back, his chest rising and falling as if he had been punched. I swallowed hard, regretting why I did what I did. Feeling devastated, I turned to leave, but before I could take a step, strong hands grabbed mine and yanked me back. And then Dante kissed me, hard and rough, like he was trying to punish me but also like he needed me.

Heat flared between us, blinding and consuming.

Dante's fingers encircled my waist while mine fisted his shirt. He lifted me effortlessly, and my legs wrapped around his waist as he carried me towards the bed.

I knew this was reckless. I knew I should stop, but tonight, I didn't want to be careful.

If Sebastian could betray me easily with Loretta, then I could damn well have a little fun with his father.

How—did I find you?” He cut me off, crossing the distance between us. “Let’s just say… I felt this inexplicable pull. There was no mistaking it. This is the connection I've been searching for.” I froze as he reached for my hair. “What?”“Looks like fate had other plans, huh? Who would've thought you'd be my mate?” He grinned. I swallowed hard. “No. That's impossible.”“But it isn't,” he smiled. “I felt the bond, and I know you do too.”All of a sudden, I felt an inexplicable tug in my chest and nearly gasped. Chapter 2Maya’s POVSix months later,“Table 3 wants 2 beers and a whiskey, no ice!” My manager barked.I gave her a dull nod and grabbed the bottles off the shelf. My back ached, and my eyes were red from lack of sleep. I had pulled 3 night shifts this week just to afford rent on a room I shared with two strangers. This wasn't the life I'd dreamed of, but dreams, as we know, don't matter when you're broken, alone, and trying not to fall apart.I slid the drinks onto a tray and weaved through the crowd, dodging drunk hands and fake smiles. The bar reeked of sweat and desperation. I hated every minute of being here, but I needed the job. No one asks where the scholarship girl went. No one even remembered the top student who was once promised Luna's crown by the Alpha's heir. No one remembered me, Maya Sinclair, except maybe Alora. My phone buzzed in my apron, and I whipped it out.Alora: “What's up? Thought you'd like to see this. I was too woozy to remember who that body belonged to. But the moment I leaned back, his scent, Arabian Oud, and a sweet taste of fire hit my nostrils. My eyes went wild. Oh. Oh, shit. I turned around, and the air nearly got knocked out of my lungs. The crushing weight of realization hit me when I noticed something was wrong.I was naked in bed with Alpha Dante.I sat up slowly, still reveling in the shock, when the sheets slipped down my chest, exposing a trail of bite marks and bruised kisses.Flashbacks flickered through my mind, and I gasped.
