Chapter 4

Amelia slowly opened her eyes and stood up, she did a little stretch and yawned, her back ached a little due to how she slept, she refused to leave her mother's side and has been with her all through.

Getting herself to sleep last night was so difficult, apart from the fact that she couldn't stop checking if her mother was still breathing through out last night, she also kept on thinking about her mother and where to raise the money for her surgery. Tears rolled down her cheeks when she realized that there was nowhere to turn to anymore.

Her mother's eyes opened a bit and she called her name. "Amelia?" Her mother called in a whisper, her voice sounding so weak.

Amelia instantly wiped off her tears, she wouldn't want her mother to see her crying, it would break her heart.

"Mom? Mom how are you feeling? S... should I call the doctor?"

"No my dear." Her mother replied weakly. "I'm fine, there's no need for you to call the doctor."

"I'm sorry Mom, I'm really sorry, please forgive me, I'm really trying my best to raise up the money for your surgery and I..." Amelia trailed as she got chocked by her tears. "I won't let anything happen to you Mom, I promise that you'll be fine, I'll do everything I can to raise the money for your surgery, I promise Mom."

"Please Amelia, you shouldn't let yourself go through all this just for me, I'm old and weak, I don't have much time either so there's no need for you to suffer yourself for me, everyone will have to die at some point my dear, and it just so happens that my time is near.''

Amelia broke down in tears on hearing her mother's words. "Don't say that, please don't say that, you won't die, I won't let anything happen to you."

Her mother sighed. "Amelia." She called softly. "You're my life dear, my joy and happiness, you've got your whole life ahead of you, you should be happy and living your life to the fullest, you shouldn't let me hinder your happiness my child. I feel like I'm just a burden to you and you should just let me die in peace my dear, I know you've done your best and I'm so proud of you."

"Please Mom." Amelia cried. "That's enough now, don't stay things like that anymore, you're not a burden to me and you never were. I'm going to raise the money, no...I must raise the money."

"Amelia." Her mother called softly, she wanted to say more, but the whole talking already exhausted her and she soon fell asleep again.

Amelia caressed her mother's hair lovingly, she looked at her mother with so much love in her eyes, the more she looked at her, the more determined she was to raise the money for her mother's surgery.

Amelia stayed with her mother for sometime, then she decides to go out and get some fresh air, she felt suffocated inside the hospital and a lot was going through her mind, the cool breeze outside might help calm her down.

Amelia had no idea where she was going, she only kept on walking and praying for a miracle to somehow happen to her.

A car suddenly parked in front of her and the glass rolled down. Amelia was shocked to see the man who had flirted with her at the restaurant, the same man who caused her to loose her job.

"You!!" She yelled in anger.

"Get in." Jason said.

"What?'' Amelia scoffed, she literally couldn't believe his guts. "It's now clear to me that you really are a mad man. You crazy bastard!" She cursed. "You made me loose my job and as if that wasn't enough, you still have the audacity to show your stupid face in front of me and ask me to get into your fucking car. What am I? A dummy you can just order around?"

"Rather than sit inside your fancy car, why don't you come out and let's have a nice discussion huh." Amelia said, she packed up her hair and rolled up her sleeves. All she wants at this point was to give this man a serious beating and she doesn't care about the consequences. If he hadn't come into her life in the first place, then she never would have lost her job.

"Why did you take your hair up and roll up your sleeves?" Jason asked in surprise.

"Why don't you come down and find out." Amelia retorted.

Jason couldn't help but chuckle softly, now he finds her very amusing, he can't believe she really wants to beat him up.

"Please, just get in, all I want to do is talk."

"You're crazy, just get lost!" She snapped and was about walking away when he said something that made her stop dead in her track.

"I want to help you, I can help you, I know of your urgent need for money and I want to help."

Amelia slowly turned to him. "What?" She muttered in surprise.

"Get in." Jason said, then he opened the car door.

Amelia looked at him for sometime, one part of her wanted to walk away and never look back, but the other part of her wants to get in and hear what he has to say. If he can help with her mother's surgery then she's willing to put her anger aside and hear what the idiot has to say.

Amelia reluctantly got in and Jason smiled proudly, he knew those words were bound to get her, after all, he's well aware that she's going to do anything for her mother, so he's going to use that to his advantage.

"Speak fast, I really don't have your time." Amelia folded her hands across her chest, then turned her face the other way.

Jason heaved a deep breath. "Fine then, I won't beat around the bush and go straight to the point." He then said the last thing she ever expects to hear.

"Marry me Amelia. I want you to be my bride."

Amelia turned her head so fast that it felt like her neck would snap due to how she turned it.

She then blurted out in shock. "What!?"
